I just can't imagine that if someone had such a grudge or issue with James or Denise, that someone close to them wouldn't know about it. Surely there would be phone evidence OR witnesses at work OR witnesses at church or dance OR family or friends confided in at least to some degree if not the whole story shared.

If someone is even cross with me at the grocery store I'm likely to mention it to someone, you know? Car cuts me off? Mentioning it. But someone so hateful and full of rage to come shoot me dead at home? I'm pretty sure I would have talked about it. People would know if there was some major conflict that might get me murdered. Right??

If, on the other hand, there was some SECRET, then it makes sense no one would know. Like what though? An affair? Money troubles? Not sure, but what else wouldn't you confide to someone close? Ideas?

The longer this goes with no break it really starts leaning towards random home invasion to me.

MOO
I respectfully have a different POV; I do think this is grievance revenge. It could have happened five years ago, and the Perp’s life decompensated to the point of taking this action. I speculate it is work related.

Amateur opinion and speculation

Denise/bathroom

Actually, the bathroom line was subsequently removed from the recent article! No longer has final sentence with further details about Denise after second person down.

New Video Surveillance Search Expanded, Electronic Device Detecting K-9 Used in Jayme Closs Search

When Barron County deputies arrived four minutes later, they found the door appeared to have been kicked in and a male who answered the door, was down. There were multiple spent rounds nearby. As authorities made their way farther into the home, they came across a second person down.

Nothing big. But we have learned a few things.
-James owned firearms, the have all been accounted for (according to LE)
-Denise & her sister talked on the phone that evening around 10pm (according to family)
-Jamye did not have an older boyfriend (according to family)

What else? Anyone?

Edit for spelling, definition

Thank you!!

I think the timing could simply be explained two ways:

1. Getaway time -- Without the 911 call no one would have known she was missing until school began on Monday. Even then, it would still take few more hours after that before anyone went to the house to check on the family after not being able to contact the parents. That gives the perp a 10+ hour head start on a getaway. Taking her from a bus stop or during the day means she is going to be reported missing a lot sooner. A daytime abduction would maybe yield an hour or two of getaway time at the absolute most, probably less than that. Taking her at night gives you way more time.

2. Lack of others around -- If you try to take her from the bus stop you run the risk of being seen by someone on the road. Or even if you try to invade the family home in the morning you aren't going to have the cover of night, and there is going to be traffic going by. The likelihood that someone would remember your car or see you dragging her out of the house is fairly high. Between the darkness and lack of traffic at 1am you are far more likely to go unnoticed. There are far more obstacles to avoid at 8am than there are at 1am.

Take those things into account, if the goal of the crime was to take Jayme then doing it at night makes the most sense.

This is actually a statement that makes the most sense to me, after following this case for a month. Take away the 911 call, and the timing of the event makes so much sense.

How do we know all of this? The comment "No guns located at this time" IMO, means just that. As far as I've read and viewed, nothing has been stated as to what weapon was used or whose weapon was used. Do you have a link for source?

See Paul Blume tweets. They're shared/posted in this thread.

When the man broke in to get clothing of Jaymes’ LE said he was caught because of the cameras they had put around in the house. Which I read here, is not a common thing that happens typically. Did the killer(s) leave something behind? Who would be that crazy to come back to the crime scene? I have no idea.
At the time the cameras were installed, that house was still a crime scene.

They would probably have law enforcement watching the house at all times, but they’d want to cover their bases and prevent anyone gaining access to a part of the house that wasn’t visible.

It was a good thing that they did that here, as if a police officer was sitting outside the house, he didn’t see this guy breaking in.

So the cameras would have been there to supplement LE surveillance, or in lieu of a physical presence.

Here are my thoughts:

Those first shots heard by the neighbors matter.
James worked that day.
Casino video used to look for get a way vechile.
No drugs. No gambling.
Jayme was the target.

Opinion only.

This probably makes no sense to anyone else but me.

I have said from the beginning, I have a feeling a woman is involved in this. Why, you ask? She couldn't kill Jayme. Her anger was directed at one of the parents and just couldn't hurt her.

Just my opinion, feel free to laugh or tear apart my theory. I could very well be wrong. I just can't shake this blasted feeling a woman is involved in these murders.

One possible role for a woman: A woman knocking on the front door and a woman's voice from outside that door, requesting help, would be a good way to get James to open the door.

As to your first point, I’m not sure those shots do matter.

If they mattered, then this was a protracted event. The chief’s latest comments seem to indicate that this was fairly quick.

The shots being relevant, and the timeline put forth by the Sheriff, don’t seem to jibe.

There are parking lots for both - yes. If Turtle Lake is like most small tribal casinos then the cameras are always rolling but there isn't much active monitoring going on of the parking lot. Surveillance staff is short as it is in rural casinos an.

why notify the casino? its a 15 minute drive away.

Hmm. They would have talked about it though? Something like "so and so just won't let it go! I saw them today giving me the evil eye still!" might be said. I just can't make it work that someone would be so mad from years ago and not have had any contact for years and then out of nowhere decides it's time for revenge. I would think there would be signs and at least periodic threatening or, at the least, some sort of unpleasant fairly recent contact. Plus people would know, which is what I was thinking. Maybe there is such a person but they seem so harmless no one takes them seriously. No idea, I just think someone would have an inkling if there was this type of situation brewing. IMO

But why not kill her too?
Was there a woman involved?

They only thing that I can think of at the moment in trying to think like a "deranged murderer" and based on the violent nature of it. Is if you cant have DC whats the next best thing ? Her daughter?

I guess because the cameras would catch people coming and going on the road, maybe. Not necessarily that they had been at the casino.

The only thing that worries me is they didn't make the call and therefore didn't realize the importance of those noises "shots" they heard, until LE asked them about seeing or hearing anything. That makes me question their timing of the shots a bit or simply trying to be helpful.

Who was that confirmed by? Last I knew DailyMail and Radar published it first (without attributing quote or source) and it's since been removed from another more recent news source.
Yes. Let’s put that back in the we don’t know category.

Possibilities:
1. They're open 24/7
2. Hotel onsite/suspicious guests (?)
3. Security Cameras
4. Identify any employees, etc. traveling on US 8?
5. Another cop or VP may have been there

I'm grasping now, but I think primarily they wanted to secure video of the intersection w/ US 8

Yes, I feel the reason Jayme may not have been killed like her parents is because she was either the target
OR the parents were the target and the perp(s) involved just couldn't hurt her or the dog. This made me think a woman could be involved also. JMO.

I hope that is the reason- I have a darker theory however that she was the target, or became the target when she was found. The fact they are eliminating people with DNA testing and that they took out a mattress tells me that they suspected to find DNA on the mattress (i.e something was visible or tested prescriptively positive) and then they found some.

but right away, the almost very first thing they though to do is notify a place 15 minutes away in a different town but nobody else (at least on the record)- just a little weird.

The timing is off according to LE. I do believe they heard them. Certainly people wouldn’t make that up? For a crime as evil as this? It is my gut feeling, since day one. IMO

Yes. Let’s put that back in the we don’t know category.

Personally, it's in my "highly probable, but maybe not" category.
I can't decide if LE doesn't want the (DC/Bathroom) info out there because it's incorrect, or because it's important to keep sealed, or some other unknown reason.
