This reminds me, I hope people do not being their children with them to search like we’ve seen before.

I hope LE says no kids allowed.
They apparently had more than enough searchers. They would take adults over children in that situation anyways.

In my mind I was thinking this was a Romeo and Juliet type of incident. Somebody she met on the internet or somebody her parents didn't like showed up for a rendezvous. But with that said..what suitor shows up with a shotgun?

Press Release

October 18, 2018

The Barron County Sheriff’s Office continues to work with our local, state and federal law enforcement partners in the search for missing and endangered 13 year old Jayme Closs. We ask the public’s help in continuing to provide tips at 1-855-744-3879. We have received over 800 tips since Monday, 10/15/18, at our Command Center.

Today, with assistance from community volunteers, we are conducting a routine search for articles of evidentiary value that may be related to Jayme’s disappearance. We thank the volunteers for their efforts, as the search efforts are still underway. As of the time of this release, nothing of evidentiary value has been recovered. We will update the public as appropriate.

Barron Area School District Superintendent Diane Trembley wishes to extend her sincere gratitude for the continued support from law enforcement, businesses, families and community. We ask that you continue to respect the privacy of our students, staff and the family of Jayme Closs.

Please follow our Barron County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page and FBI Twitter #FindJayme updates as this is the most up-to-date information as we know it, and continue to remain vigilant in reporting any tips you may have to law enforcement.

Nope. I haven’t seen this before. Anyone?
Hi margarita, They used civilian searchers at the very start of the Mollie Tibbetts case in the area , near where she lived with her boyfriend.

Yes, I'm pretty sure there was a tweet posted upthread that they had to turn searchers away.

But wouldn't they just kill her too though?
Reasons for not killing her include:
1. Suspect is in love with her, e.g. boyfriend or obsessed stalker.
2. He/they perceived that there wasn't enough time.
3. He/they ran out of bullets/shells.
4. He/they wanted a hostage/negotiating piece in case they got surrounded.
5. An RSO or other person that wanted to molest her.

But, other than #1, he/they may be inclined to kill her later on.

I think timing is also something to look at. That closed town hall meeting was held last night. I think LE got an earful from this small tight-nit community, wanting to do something to help and be involved. Also each group of civilian searchers has LE assigned to them, which I assume is why they only allowed the first 100 searchers...not enough LE to pair up with more searchers.
That's what I think too. The town wants to help, so LE has them looking in ditches.

Like I said, I hope it's fruitful.

I'm more curious about Turtle Lake and what led LE to zero in on that place.

I doubt it. I think it’s more likely that he didn’t kill her because she was his motivation all along.
That scenario is so horrifying -- I have no words.

Who throws stuff out in the open where you know someone is going to find it? Stupid people? Sorry but geez.

i mean i don't think any of us are thinking KGB agents are involved in this...

A map of the search, or what specifically? There have been some maps posted, but not sure what you're looking for. :)

Quick question. I have to keep refreshing my page to get new posts. Shouldn't they be automatic?

Important to note that investigators have received more than 800 tips since Monday. That's more than double that of yesterday. .@KSTP
