I've thought this all along. Why park in their driveway, as that's the only way out?
Park down the hwy, or in back to a connecting property that you can run to.

I have wondered how carefully they checked for footprints or disturbed ground like several people running on it, or dragging along a resisting Jayme. I just felt their initial (MOO) examination of the area seemed too cursory.

I still say they are foolish not to make an exception and turn this over to the cold case detectives, the BEST ONES in Wisconsin, and the BEST ONES in the FBI and state BI, to have a crack at it. Just make an exception and set the cold casers on it right now. Because I think (JMO) that it's cold, ice cold, getting colder by the second.

I just keep thinking about that door. That door was a heavy wood, solid door. Wouldn't they have heard the door being kicked in or hacked in or blown in by a gun? Wouldn't any of the 3 reach immediately for their phone and dial 911? That had to have scared them.
None of this makes sense to me. It could not have happened that way as you would think at least one of the 3 would have called 911 the with the first kick. It had to have taken some time to kick in the door and get to wherever they went. How could they have not dialed 911 sooner?

The door has been a head scratcher for me as well. I’ve read so many posts about the door, difficulty to kick in, amount of noise that generates...

I’m new at this, but what if the intruder kicked in the door AFTER the homicides? It would immediately give first responders the impression they had to force their way in. However, if the intruder did in fact know the family and the door was answered & opened for him/her, this action could be used to steer attention elsewhere?

• Red Circle: Turtle Lake / Casino
• Red Line: Previous search area along 14 mile stretch of road
• Red Pin (1883 15th Street): Meeting place for tomorrow's search. This is about 6 miles northeast of the Closs home, straight line.

Is anyone here leaning towards the possibility that DC and JC were in the house with the perp and dad came home during the attack, seeing the door was kicked in, he was killed right away at the door? He fell in a way that made LE think he answered the door? But then they might have been able to tell he had just walked in if he had work clothes on and a bag or something.

Idk I'm thinking out loud and I'm not sure how the other pieces of the puzzle would fit into that scenario ....

I'm wondering if the door was ON the poor man, partially ON him.

So the 14-mile stretch was an escape route down the highway heading west.

The "other" escape route? Any guesses? Some of us have wondered if the perp left his car in the area behind the house - beyond the woods. Could that be the "other" route??
