Or let's put it this way: How common are meth-induced home invasions of people who are not involved with drugs?

I don't see that being a thing here.

Expanded Homicide Data Table 10

According to the FBI study, 43 of 12,664 were narcotic related during commission of a felony relating to strangers. 9 of 12,664 were during an argument over/while using narcotics with a stranger

Edit: according to that study, Gambling related deaths are even more rare

I've thought this all along. Why park in their driveway, as that's the only way out?
Park down the hwy, or in back to a connecting property that you can run to.

I have wondered how carefully they checked for footprints or disturbed ground like several people running on it, or dragging along a resisting Jayme. I just felt their initial (MOO) examination of the area seemed too cursory.

I still say they are foolish not to make an exception and turn this over to the cold case detectives, the BEST ONES in Wisconsin, and the BEST ONES in the FBI and state BI, to have a crack at it. Just make an exception and set the cold casers on it right now. Because I think (JMO) that it's cold, ice cold, getting colder by the second.

I just keep thinking about that door. That door was a heavy wood, solid door. Wouldn't they have heard the door being kicked in or hacked in or blown in by a gun? Wouldn't any of the 3 reach immediately for their phone and dial 911? That had to have scared them.
None of this makes sense to me. It could not have happened that way as you would think at least one of the 3 would have called 911 the with the first kick. It had to have taken some time to kick in the door and get to wherever they went. How could they have not dialed 911 sooner?

The door has been a head scratcher for me as well. I’ve read so many posts about the door, difficulty to kick in, amount of noise that generates...

I’m new at this, but what if the intruder kicked in the door AFTER the homicides? It would immediately give first responders the impression they had to force their way in. However, if the intruder did in fact know the family and the door was answered & opened for him/her, this action could be used to steer attention elsewhere?

I've attached a map showing you where the new search/meeting area is for tomorrow, with the 2000 volunteers.
  • Yellow Circle: Closs Home
  • Red Circle: Turtle Lake / Casino
  • Red Line: Previous search area along 14 mile stretch of road
  • Red Pin (1883 15th Street): Meeting place for tomorrow's search. This is about 6 miles northeast of the Closs home, straight line.

Oops, I was wrong. It was a painting company. Here's where it was posted: AMBER ALERT - WI - Jayme Closs, 13, Barron, missing after parents found shot to death, 15 Oct 2018 *endangered* #3

On second look, I'm not so sure it's a small window in the upper part of the wooden door but that is what I thought when I saw it (Photo is from 2016):
Sikora Prime Painting and Washing, LLC

(Ack, I can't get the photo to copy here)
Thanks again.... It does look like it could be a window.

Reporter Paul Blume believes that this search is an effort to look for evidence around “the other” escape route.

I can't keep up with these threads.

Is anyone here leaning towards the possibility that DC and JC were in the house with the perp and dad came home during the attack, seeing the door was kicked in, he was killed right away at the door? He fell in a way that made LE think he answered the door? But then they might have been able to tell he had just walked in if he had work clothes on and a bag or something.

Idk I'm thinking out loud and I'm not sure how the other pieces of the puzzle would fit into that scenario ....

I'm wondering if the door was ON the poor man, partially ON him.

The home I grew up in had a door that looked pretty much like this...the panel lay-out. We did have three windows at the top.

So the 14-mile stretch was an escape route down the highway heading west.

The "other" escape route? Any guesses? Some of us have wondered if the perp left his car in the area behind the house - beyond the woods. Could that be the "other" route??

so they're searching another area that could have been used. My question is, why the specific number?

BBM Interesting how everyone assumes its a male.

How many times has it been a female who has conducted a home invasion, murdered inhabitants and kidnapped a child, with the exception of those freaky women who attack pregnant ladies and carve out the baby?

Is the name "Hungry Hollow" a town name? Neighborhood name? Woods name? Is it known for anything to locals?
