Hey - sorry I do see you have spent a lot of time on this case. I am just posting that an episode was released about his disappearance.

I get your frustrations - my case I have spent a lot of time on is the disappearance of Cherrie Mahan. When i read or hear of info that I don't believe is true, it upsets me also.
Oh, I'm not annoyed or anything. This is law enforcement putting that Gacy info out there, it isn't like you guys came up with some looney idea. You are listening to the authorities on this, and that's what they are saying. I just think *they're* wrong and based on this and another case, a little distracted by serial killers. Has nothing to do with you folks, I'm glad you are talking about Bob.

I just happened to come across the episode today, I listen to all true crime podcasts, mostly missing person cases, and try to share on here when I see a missing person or unidentified person.

The podcasters also interviewed Bob's sister - wasn't sure if you listened to it or not.

I know I should, but after I found out what LE was positing, I got so mad I couldn't.
I'm calmer now, but I'm not sure there's anything I can do anymore. They need to talk to the locals, his friend in Baraboo, and dig into old crimes in the area, and I can't force them to do it.

I feel like Robert seen something he shouldn't have..like the retreat being robbed or maybe walking back from checking the hunting stand, he seen his own car being pulled apart. How thorough did LE check that tower area? Once..more than once?

Well, we know at least they brought dogs in. But the family and family friends checked it many, many times, according to their quotes in articles. I went up there and I don't know that anything exists to find. That area has been flooded over the years repeatedly. And it's been 48 years.

Yep - I concur with @Keiri that some specific LE are too interested in serial killer angles. Statistically the odds of a missing person or murder being due to an already well known serial killer are incredibly low odds. Even factoring in that serial killers were more common in the 70s and 80s, still very low odds. Time spent on looking into serial killers would, in my opinion, be better spent looking at every other angle first.

LOL - you can tell that the two of us have been similarly feeling some kinda way about this topic! I’ll gladly eat crow if I’m wrong. And yes on these old cases, some attention is better than none, always!

Bob was updated oh NamUs today, I checked exclusivions and there are 17. In my notes however, I have 46. Did a bunch get removed or did I typo?

Here are the 17

Was Bob's car keys found in the ignition or thrown on the seat?

There must have been several VA exclusions originally. I am noticing fewer on my lists as well where Virginia was removed.

Not only is this area where remains have been found close to where Paul Ferrall was last seen but also not too far from where Robert’s car was found on Tower Rd. Looks like about 10 miles.

This unidentified male is stated to have been 62 years old so would not be Robert. He is not yet named as NOK needs to be identified.

Do we know if it was routine for Bob to check the deer stands the day/night before?
The house that was robbed...were fingerprints lifted? If so, compared against fingerprints from Bobs vehicle?

  • #396
What stands out to me is Bob knowing this area well. Why would he be in the Nuns driveway, lost? The car was probably waiting for the person/people who were ransacking the house..and it doesn't sound like something Bob would be involved in. Probably the same people who ransacked the house, ransacked his car. I think Bob came across their illegal activity and was silenced. Whatever became of the car fingerprints? Was the Nuns house fingerprinted and compared?

They said they got a fingerprint from the car and were able to exclude family. But I have asked law enforcement whether the fingerprints and other evidence still exists but I never got a straight answer. Given that, I’d assume it’s long gone.

48 years ago. Time flies. Praying this is solved. Can’t imagine the pain the family lived through
