I don’t know WI family law. But in CA, legal custody involves decision-making. Physical custody has to do with where the kids primarily live. Sole physical doesn’t mean that the other parent has no contact.

Charges detail how US kayaker faked his death and left his family

Ryan Borgwardt was charged with obstructing an intense lake search for his body.

I imagine EB worked at St Lukes to cover tuition for the 3 kids. A self-employed carpenter, how lucrative could that enterprise have been for a selfish, pretend husband/father? He probably long deprived his family socking away earnings for his planned getaway.

Had it all worked out. Would leave them behind with $325,000 to ease the loss. Except he didn't earn it, wasn't his to give. (Also called a crime, especially if he'd pulled it off.)

I sense a fragile ego who fell in love with who he could be online, threw his actual life away, without regard for the true cost to LE and to his family left behind.

IIRC, he had to wait for an hour at the airport after calling her to pick up him (rather than her being there to greet him), so I'm wondering if she never expected him to actually SHOW UP in person. If she did expect him, why did they stay at a hotel instead of her place? (Maybe because he needed to shower after walking hip-deep in muck at the lake! I'm sure he was quite the sight to see when the met.)

I bet she thought, "what a doofus." Maybe it was a love match, but I still think it was scam for his money, and he took it way too seriously while she took him for everything he had.

Are there reports of him missing back in Aug? I feel so bad for his family.

I'd not heard of this case until the fraud discovered/reported so trying to assemble earlier MSM reports from when first reported missing-- I noticed they did not release his name in those earlier reports dated to the early September. I wonder if they were suspicious of his disappearance from the beginning:

In many countries (not saying this is the case in Georgia/Uzbekistan in general) getting a boyfriend/husband from an English-speaking country e.g. the USA, England, is considered a huge achievement, like I wrote here the other day ''a trophy'' and lots of females out there tend to have the idea in their head that all Americans are wealthy (with mansion, huge savings in their bank account, etc.) That, coupled with him probably ''embellishing'' his biography and financial circumstances, made this woman eager to ''catch'' him at all costs and convince him to move there so that she could live the high life. Just my own speculation.
