I have the impression that this girl with this man knew drugs... a beautiful young girl who is told nice things by an older man, she gets involved with him and follows him everywhere... reminds me of Jenny Pratt with Curtis Craig... she is beautiful and popular and meets the perfect guy with money, handsome and popular... she fell into his trap quickly... only in this case she was savagely attacked but survived and did not disappear... in this case surely this guy Lund perhaps made a drug deal and did not pay and they were both murdered... and surely the murderer or thief abandoned the trailer they had... at 17 years old something like that could happen...

They removed the case from Wisconsin and put it under missing from "Florida" today

I forget, did you submit those? Did you submit it to the dane county sheriff or somewhere else?

I sent it to multiple departments including the Dane county sheriff. The detective assigned to this case confirmed he is looking into it. I’m guessing that prompted the change to Florida from Wisconsin.

Suzanne told her family she would be home on August 4, 1979. Stephen and Suzanne never arrived to their destinations and have not been seen since. Suzanne's U-Haul trailer was located, abandoned in Chicago in September, 1979.

I presume that Stephen C Lund went back to Illinois from Florida, either alone or with Suzanne. We don't know whether she disappeared in Chicago, Tampa or along the way. What's known is that Stephen was from Chicago (Riverdale to be exact, a community area of Chicago) before he moved to Waukesha, WI. What we don't know is where exactly in Chicago the U-Haul was found. Considering Lund is from Chicago and the trailer was found in Chicago, I'm assuming he's the one who drove it up from Tampa.

The Waukesha County Freeman Sat, Nov 26, 1966 Page 8 shows Stephen C. Lund, Riverdale, IL, married Gladys Rae Greene, 306 S. Washington Ave, Waukesha, WI on 27 Nov 1966. They were divorced 21 Dec 1971 in Dane County, WI.

US Search shows Stephen Craig Lund, age 75, birth date Jan 15, 1947, living at a boarding house in Tampa, Florida in 2003. This public record shows the boarding house is located at 2606 Corrine St in Tampa.

What's interesting is that a public records index shows Stephen C. Lund still living at 2606 Corrine St., Tampa , FL as late as 1994-2019. That boarding house is now an empty lot as seen in a Google Street View on Google Maps. Why no one has investigated this lead is unknown. At least to me.

One also wonders what a 32 year old man is doing traveling interstate with a 17 year old minor. In 1978, the age of consent in Wisconsin was 18 years old. Does anyone believe this was a platonic relationship?

Was this Lund's one time thing with a minor? Nope.

According to the Lafayette, IN Journal and Courier Mon, Feb 15, 1965 Page 36, 18 year old Stephen Lund and another 19 year old adult, Marion D. Oakley, attempted to smuggle a 15 year old minor child into a hotel room in Lafayette, IN. We can only imagine why they tried to do that. According to that same newspaper on Newspapers.com, Oakley was a one man crime wave in Lafayette, IN and has a long criminal record there. So, we know Lund has ties to that city, too.

This was about 21 months before he married Gladys Rae Greene on 27 Nov 1966.

So, here we have an obvious pedophile with a background of interstate child trafficking and all they have him down for is a missing person. No wonder this case hasn't been solved. Law enforcement and the FBI fell far short on this case. No law enforcement update on this case in decades and no newspaper articles in decades, either. Sad.

Cild trafficking: The illegal movement of children, typically for the purposes of forced labor or sexual exploitation. Child victims of trafficking are recruited, transported, transferred, harbored or received for the purpose of exploitation.

Also, aren’t uhauls pretty much like that? It’s towed or something in Florida, the U-Haul place brings it back and rents to another user who drives it to Illinois and abandons it. Who knows why. Or maybe a potential killer did it, used it and dumped it.

Stephen C Lund is almost a ghost. I cannot find any sort of birth record at all.

Feel free, no permission needed. That's what we're here for, to exchange ideas, theories and leads. If we're lucky, they might even throw us a bone and give out some new information like they did with the Robert Christian case. I've already had detectives visit me (they actually drove 180 miles) because of something posted here on WS's on the SMC case, but, it was a one way street. No info flowed back my way. Well, they did say they only found a few hairs, but didn't sound enthusiastic about it or say whether they submitted it for DNA.

We do need an update in this case, though. Actually, a first date. They never had one yet. Not even a press release.

I’m wondering if, although his “family” was in IL at the time the Uhaul was left there, perhaps he was actually born in a different state? Is Thornton High a school in multiple states? If we can maybe pin that down, and then see a yearbook, perhaps there’s an alternative spelling for his name that could be used to find his date of birth? Just brainstorming.

I'm going to go with the US Search dob Jan 15, 1947 for Stephen Craig Lund. I'm pretty certain that the Thorton Township High School in Thorton Township is where he went to high school, though his name didn't come up at Classmates.com for that high school. If he went to a parochial high school he wouldn't be on Classmates. Both Harvey and Riverdale are in Thorton Township. Since he was 18 in 1965, I'd assume he went to high school from 1961-1965.
