I totally agree;IMO she knew Dr K threw in a few aberrant eggs in order to up the ante on the possibility of many of them sticking around till term.IMO she probably did not have enough..(who knows how many??) of her own fresh eggs,so a few were added to the mix, of which some of them took.DNA results would certainly be interesting! weren't those done though? I think the public is just not privy to the results, so I wonder what will be released publicly after this.
Am thinking the lady with the 7 embryos implanted may have some not genetically hers as well.question is,where did they come from??it's possible they were created using donor sperm and eggs, which would make it hard for anyone to come fwd and claim the resulting babies.(which I think they have probably signed all their rights away anyway).
that said,if it's true Nadya DID have 11 implanted, what would she and Dr K have done if all or most of them had taken?? they were both after a successful higher order multiple birth.a disaster in -the -making would have surely followed a pregnancy of 11 embryos. that would not do!
IMO the contingency plan was to do a reduction of embryos had that happened.
Kudos to them both for having such high morals, HUH???!!!
JMO You raise some interesting points - 11 mature healthy eggs would not be unusual in a young woman her age when being hyper-stimulated - except for the number of times she had already had the procedure done -
When I did the research on the process for adopting "leftover frozen zygotes" (I hate that term) it sounded to me that there are doctors out there who prefer not to hyper-stimulate more than 1 time, 2 times max. Some doc's after the woman hits 30, will try to get her to use donor eggs. It all had to do with egg quality. Almost all the donors whose photos and characteristics were available to read on line - were under 30, because fertility drops dramatically once we hit the BIG 3 - 0 and the age of the egg cells seems to play a huge part in the overall picture - not necessarily for everyone, but when there are fertility issues - older eggs and older sperm make conception more difficult.
There are different ways of adopting eggs - fertilized or not; open or closed "adoption" - adoption not being the true term because presently eggs or even matured zygotes aren't legally adoptable - only born children are. But the bottom line is once you give them away - they are no longer yours - exception being if you give them to "person A" - and A has leftovers once she's finished
you can state up front that A only "owns" the ones she uses - the rest must be returned - or you can state you don't want any left overs returned.
Unless there are stipulations in your contract, you have no other say - same with the "adoptive" parent - they can't change their mind and hit the biological parents up, if they had a child with a birth defect etc - although another scenario, if Dr K used zygotes for her that were supposed to be stored for later use by some other client. (Not saying he did) that would be a sticky wicket! Similar to the clinic that "mixed up" some fertilized eggs, 3 or 4 women were involved - at least 2 gave birth to a child that was not hers.
I cannot imagine the horror of seeing a child that looked just like mine, living in that house, after having treatment in that office!! I agree with you 1-6 look like siblings - the blonds look like sibs, the 2 girls look like sibs, the other 4 IDK - but IMO they don't look like 1-6.
I kinda doubt the woman who had 7 implanted used her own, due to her age, she would have been pretty close to a 50/50 bracket for Downs Syndrome, according to the research I did, it is almost impossible to get pregnant in vitro with a batch of "older eggs" or to even to get a "batch of eggs" that are considered good quality - these doctors live by their percentage rate - the doctors want you to have the best outcome per procedure.
Of course as we heard, Dr K has the worst #'s in the state! So who knows what he did? Ya-know? I always figure - once someone crosses one line (Nadya) they will cross other lines (45 yr old pregnant with quads) too - I'm actually surprised they released the NS info we read - what with HICFA and all - we can only hope we get more!!
yeah - this is my first reaction as well. i think this girl has dollar $ign$ in her eyes and
if its proven that she had some "disorder/impairment" then in her mind it makes her blameless and the doctor that did the implanting the one to blame EVERYTHING on... and maybe thats the way it should be - but she stands to gain financially and thats what i think is her main objective. moo

i think she is willing to SAY that she is looking within herself blah blah blah just to get a pile of cash. i did see some of the oprah special and poor oprah just looked exasperated with her in my opinion.... :/
NN It's weird, I was doing a story on using/adopting frozen zygotes - if you read the message boards available for women getting treatment, most of these gals know more about their fertility each and every day, then most of us think about in a lifetime! NS has a BS degree and she was working on her Masters - there are a lot of things she could be but ignorant of, but what she was doing is probably not one - I think you're right she saw $$$ she had 6 kids "by herself" in her mind - what's 6 or 8 or 11 more.
I don't think she sees that the doctor did anything wrong - I suppose if you see every life "as a gift" he didn't, but in every other way - he screwed up big time. That is undoubtedly his defense "I create life in barren wombs!" In old ones and BPD ones too - he reminds me of the doctor who used his own sperm. NS's story about using her last 6 stored zygotes was just that - a story, that the birth alone disproved - so going back to each life being a gift, what about all those she still has in the freezer?
