WS Members/loved ones who have Coronavirus or testing for Coronavirus (Group Hug)

That is a great reminder! I tend to get inpatient, so this has been quite a lesson on slowing down and having patience.
I was thinking about times in my childhood when I was ill.

My mother used to reassure me, when I was sick or hurt, that it will get worse before it gets better. She wasn't a medical professional or a psychologist, and sometimes wrong. I realize now that those words actually were beneficial to me, at least emotionally. I was always mentally prepared for a "bad" day, and also had hope that I had to get through the worst of it before I would feel better.

So, Seenit hang in there and maybe you'll feel worse before you feel better.

I am not writing this to keep on feeling sorry for myself, but maybe it is something that can help educate someone else....or maybe someone else has experienced a similar reaction.

So, I had written that over a week ago, my vision went blurry. Some fellow WSers said that can be a side effect of the steroids. Well, it was getting better and I had mentioned it to my dad (a retired doctor) that I still couldn't even see the ground. He said that I should get my blood glucose levels checked. We happen to have a glucometer at home, so I immediately checked it. It was 400! I am now having to check my levels several times a day and they are still very high! Not 400, but not a heck of a lot better. My doctor said this might resolve as the steroids leave my body.....or I might now become a diabetic. The steroids might have pushed my body pass it's threshold. Ugh. Freaking COVID! Who knew.

Thank you for sharing this information. I didn't know much about steroids' side effects, having only taken prednisone once. I stopped taking it because I couldn't sleep. I do use a dexamethasone mouth rinse daily but I spit it out.

Was your blood sugar normal before you started on the steroid? If so, maybe it will return to normal. I sure hope it will.

Just received text my granddaughter's (3yr old) preschool teacher has tested positive so entire class under 14 day quarantine. Grandson (8 yr old) started running fever and runny nose yesterday morning. GS going in for rapid test in next hr.
Although we knew this would likely at some point happen, seriously not prepared. I'm a wreck and keep thinking of how calm so many of you are even with positive results and symptoms.
I also know this is just the beginning. This is the only part of my family that has taken this virus seriously and tried their best to be super careful. I realized last night, I have just been trying to prep myself for the phone call when first of my family contacts this evil virus. Wasn't prepared for it to be who it is
Prayers, positive thoughts needed.

Sweet story of the power of a mom's words. I will remember this, too.

I am waiting for such news also. It’s hard waiting for something you can’t see and apparently a lot of people around don’t believe exists.
Hoping the little ones recover quickly!

You and your family are in my prayers. I know I'd be a wreck, too, in similar circumstances. Sending good wishes for mild cases of Covid in your family members who are affected, and quick recoveries. (((Hugs)))

Good to hear that, praying your blood sugar will return to normal.

I have more questions (sorry for being so nosy, feel free to ignore):
--How much longer will you have to take the steroid?
--Is the steroid primarily intended to protect your lungs from the virus? Or to prevent inflammation in general? (maybe both?)

Wishing you and your family well.

So sad to see an increasing number of our WS community being affected by the virus. Thinking of you all xX

Yesterday I heard from a cousin in Illinois (I'm in NC) that another cousin, older than us, has died from Covid. He was in a nursing home that has been having a serious outbreak. The virus is touching all of us, or will before long, it seems.

Just heard from my daughter, GS's rapid test negative. He still has low grade fever and slight sniffles. They will quarantine for next 14 days, the plan is to test the 3 yr old who was exposed on Monday, pediatrician said too soon to do so now.

Just awful that you have to deal with the unknown. To have to deal with such in a family, I cannot fathom yet so many are going through this turmoil of the unknown.

My heart breaks for so many and hopefully there will be a stop on that transmission cycle.
