maybe he didn't realise it was human at first?

looking at a map I don't think it would be possible to travel from Weston to the Lesage area in the river, but could "whoever" have dumped a body further upstream from Lesage?

Is it a child's skull? tia

No way guys. Unless that child was put in a different spot than where the dogs sniffed to the river. It is just not possible. I don't live too far from the area, so I know the terrain a little bit. The whole area where this girl went missing is pretty rough anyway (along with most of WV). Don't mean to sound critical, but really....it is.

From Weston to Lesage it is an easy drive, I-79 to I-64 basically.
It is 146 miles.

If it is Aliayah, she did not get there via rivers.

I pray you are right!! I was just thinking --just because Lena Lunsford called 911 on September 24, 2011-doesn't mean that is the day Aliayah vanished. She could have been gone for days, weeks....and that is heartbreaking.

The person who found it said it looked like the skull of a "baby doll".

Well, if it isn't Aliayah, it's someone's baby. :(
Are there other missing children in the vicinity?

  • #868
According to WSAZ they will be taking the skull to the state medical examiners office in the morning and will have more details then. This is sad.

According to WSAZ's facebook there are several missing persons from both sides of the river. Not sure if they are children or adults. :(

I can't recall (though I know we covered this), when was the last confirmed sighting of our angel? I remember something about a possible party the night before but I don't remember if we were able to confirm that.

I can't remember the date she was last seen-but IIRC the last person that saw her alive was a woman that worked at a church or a mission. I had almost forgot about the party....they brought her home or so the story goes? (or am i confused...again) :(

That is the way I remember the party story too and now that you said it I remember the woman at the church seeing her. Seems like it was 3-4 days earlier and there was clothing involved. Thanks for refreshing my memory.

8/20/11 Susie Kerns saw Aliayah at a church clothing drive.
She said Aliayah was happy and had no visible bruising.

Aliayah was reported missing 9/24/11.

For almost two months, Susie Kerns has only thought about one thing...the day she met a little girl who she says stole her heart.

"Her eyes took me in. Her eyes grabbed a hold of my heart and I fell in love with that little girl," she said.

That day was August 20, 2011, a little more than a month before Aliayah vanished from her home.

The Bendale Church was having a clothing giveaway and Kerns says Lena was there with Aliayah and her older brother. She picked out a pink princess sweatshirt, and a pair of pink tennis shoes.

"She was so happy over that, a used pair of tennis shoes. She was so happy. And the day that she came up missing and found out she didn't have any shoes on, that was my first thought was she didn't have her little tennis shoes on," said Kerns as she started to cry.

Kerns has seen a recently released picture that shows a large bruise down Aliayah's cheek. The FBI says it's the most recent picture they have of her, but Kerns says there were absolutely no bruises on Aliayah that day.

"Any part of her little skin that was showing that day had no bruises. In fact, I made a remark to her mother that day that she had angel skin," she said.

Kerns says Aliayah was a happy little girl with sparking eyes. Now, she's haunted by that day, and prays for closure.

"Her little smile was worth more than words can ever say," said Kerns.

Perhaps not the most concrete, specific news in a while but good to know that local LE is still on the case. Bring Aliayah home!

Last February, authorities released a flier with a photo showing Aliayah with her hair closely cropped and what looks like a bruise extending from below her left eye down her cheek.

A month later, FBI agent John Hambrick said the bureau had a theory of what happened to the girl, but would not elaborate.

sadly I think we can all guess what FBIs theory they do not disclose to us is. Their names are Ralph and Lena Lunsford. :(
