In the Lunsford case, no suspects have been named but investigators say there are "persons of interest". They stress that the investigation is far from over. Her case is highly sensitive, and has drawn a lot of emotion from people around the world. Officers say that making threats or bribing someone to tell you information could actually do more harm than good.

While you might be trying to help and have good intentions, officers say there are some things you need to be aware of.

Wonder if a specific threat or attempt at bribing the truth out of these [unusual] parents is what prompted this comment.

I would not doubt it. Probably both have occured. I don't know if you ever look at some of those FB pages, but wow, some of those people are just, well, crazy. They even threaten each other. Real classy and a real nice way to keep the focus on Aliayah (NOT). it is really a shame. :(

never big a big one for following the social media end of cases, but recently I have begun to dabble. When this case first broke I meandered over to the rumor mill page and quickly discovered you are right. Some folks are well meaning, some are downright scary. I backed out and haven't been back since.

Since that experience, I take the FB etc pages on a case by case basis now.

I think part of the problem is that a lot of people are well meaning, but they also feel powerless. We can see how cases draw people in on a very personal level, even if they (we) have never met the person or his/her family. Usually we have the perspective or levelheadedness to realize that even if we strongly disagree with someone about the case (eg., who's responsible) that person is on the webpage for the same reason we are - they care about the missing person or justice (or however you phrase it). But I think that when someone who's really invested in a case (for whatever their personal reasons may be) starts to get frustrated with not a lot of progress for a specific MP's case...and maybe to that person it is not just one case, but represents a lot of injustices that they perceive...people take it to heart and internalize it, especially when the person has strong opinions about who's to blame. And then s/he gets frustrated, angry, or hurt when other people don't see things the same way. It's like they (the other people) are denying the injustice that this person now not only perceives but feels. The person knows that s/he can't take out those feelings on the "bad guy" himself because the law forbids it, so the negative energy gets directed toward others who might be seen as defending that person.

:waitasec: Not doing so well with the putting-words-together-and-them-coming-out-good-thing tonight. I'm not trying to defend anyone on the FB page or anything like that. Just wanted to share how I see it.

No, you explained it just fine! :) I agree totally. It IS frustrating, and I do understand people venting these frustrations on others. Mainly what I am talking about on the FB pages, is just the, I don't know, CRASSNESS (is that a word?) of some of these people. The absolutely horrible language, name calling, etc. And they really make themselves look bad, and ignorant in my opinion. I do go to these pages, but I rarely find anything worth noting on them, but sometimes I do see a scrap of info I will file away.

I think a big part of the problem is that we are used to Websleuths, and treating fellow posters with respect. It is a huge culture shock to begin participating or even read some of the FB pages regarding cases we follow here. We are spoiled and I am so glad.

Every day I pray for Aliayah and so many others who are missing or have been abused and for justice for those who have been murdered.

Many times I get very discouraged then I remember a prayer I prayed for a long time. It went like this, God please give me another sister or brother to love. My baby brother had died then my baby sister died. I kept praying it every night. I didn't stop because I saw my mother's tears and I missed them too. Five months after I graduated from high school my little sister was born.

I have to keep telling myself that God does answer prayers but in his own time. A month after my sister was born my father left and my sister was the only thing that kept my mother going..............

So we have to all keep praying no matter how long it takes. Never give up!

We love you Aliayah!

Thank you SO much for sharing this with me. Means the world -because you are right.. he does answer prayers in his own time.

Yes , some of the FB pages are unreal. One guy even posted a DUI report on one of the ladies husbands from out of state yesterday. The funny thing is , her husband has never even been on face book anywhere. It is folks like this that make it difficult to get Locals to help find Aliayah. Wouldn't you agree Westinlund, since you are Local. We need to try to keep EVERYONE, even FB folks focused on Aliayah and the truth. I really believe Fb could be a good tool in getting info if it was used correctly. JMO

:bump::bump:

Bumping for you, sweet Aliayah..... still praying for you EVERY day, little one.....

I just listened to the Bring Them Home Now show. It was really informative and heartbreaking. I haven't posted on Aliayah's thread in a while, but I follow along and little Aliayah is always on my mind. I can't believe this little sweetheart still hasn't been found. I wish more national attention was being paid to this case.

I agree Vickie. Let's get back to thinking logically and seeing what we can accomplish.

Initial reports said that dogs tracked her scent to the river. Can it be searched? Has it been searched?

  • #137
It breaks my heart that Aliayah has been missing for more than four months. And to add insult to injury, all those people who spend virtually HOURS a day fighting on FB, could be and SHOULD be out searching for her. Lena Lunsford ought to be a woman-and stand up and take that polygraph test. And I don't believe for a second she is afraid of Ralph Lunsford. She is as big as a scammer as he is. Neither of them -or JoAnn for that matter should be allowed around children. EVER!

Aliayah, I am sorry that the people that GOD trusted you with -have failed you so miserably.....

I've been following but not posting - but I did come in "late" - around November or December I think. Anyway, is there a case map? TIA

It has been searched along with many other places.

I second that!

Initial reports said that dogs tracked her scent to the river. Can it be searched? Has it been searched?

I remember that there were some water searches back in the first days and weeks after Aliayah disappeared, but I don't recall which waterways were searched or any of the details. That info's probably in one of the early threads. I would think that they did search the river if the report about her scent being tracked there were true, or even just because of how close the river is.

The possibility still exists, I suppose, that she wandered to the river on her own and drowned. But when LE started referring to their investigation as being about a homicide or concealment, I kind of dismissed that idea. If she is deceased and someone disposed of her body in the river, though, I wouldn't think they'd do it right there, near her home.

I can't really jump on the 'they should be out searching' bandwagon, as much as I am disgusted by what I've seen on the FB pages about this case. Where should they be searching at this point, anyway? They can't just search private property without permission, and search parties have covered the public areas and those private properties they had permission to search. Besides, not everyone is able to be out searching. That doesn't mean that they have to go on FB and spend their time trash-talking and gossiping, of course, but I can't really criticize anyone who isn't searching at this point.

And as I've said before, polygraphs don't mean anything to me. If Lena and Ralph and anybody else people have decided are guilty took one and passed, would that change anyone's mind? Or if they failed, would that really confirm anything? There are too many convicted killers out there who have passed them, and too many innocent people who have failed.
