Wow. She certainly is concerned about Aliayah today. They won't offer any insight into what happened to that precious child? Wonder why. I hope they are not limited to media and will talk to LE. IMO

I guess I just don't have it in me to criticize or mock family members, extended or not, for the way they act or respond when one of their own is missing. So if there does turn out to be a press conference and any of Aliayah's relatives attend, I'll listen to what they have to say even if they don't have any startling revelations or newsflashes. I don't expect to learn anything new about the investigation from them, but that's okay--that's not their role. I feel really sorry for them at this point, and I hope this appearance tomorrow helps them more than hurts; they've had enough of the latter.

As far as the food stamp thing goes, I've filed that in the 'distractions' file, since I didn't learn anything helpful from it. Just one more sideshow, as far as I'm concerned. And this story has certainly been full of those.

In this case I find it easier to be cynical re: extended family because I truly believe IMO that they know something IMO. and I didn't see during the Q&A, that they were more interested in finding Aliayah, than they were chatting people up. IMO The other case I follow, LI, I don't see that at all.

But I should watch myself. Thank you for the reminder. :)

dillysmom11, this is a discussion forum. To express an opinion is not criticism or mocking. It's a point of view, which others may or may not agree with. We are a diverse group with different life experiences to pull from.

Read the TOS here at WS. If you get out of line it's the Mod's job to remind you. They are the reason this forum is so wondeeful.

The strange thing (to me) is that this so called "statement" was actually a post that V put on numerous facebook pages a day or two after the Q & A session. Since when does posting on facebook=releasing a statement?

I think that's strange, too. At the very least, it's shoddy reporting if someone from that news site just used a Facebook posting to make an 'article'. You would think that any decent reporter would have expanded on that even just a little bit by calling the phone number (that's right there in the FB posting) and actually talking to the person. It wouldn't have taken long and would have looked a lot better.

Maybe the family member also sent the request for help that was posted on FB to the local media, maybe through their FB pages. Even so, it would have been nice if the reporter had devoted a few minutes more to this to get a better story.

IMO...if an extended family member has no information pertaining to the missing person, then we shouldn't even know who they are.

Absolutely.

Now you all have me wondering if there was even a "press" release that the press itself didn't release first...

Knox, I noticed that about this forum and I like it. :)

IMO the whole Q&A thing was a waste of time. They basically confirmed or denied the rumors that were going around. The rules from the start told us we were not going to get any information from them. The person that I think has the info is grandma, and she's too distraught to speak or go through pictures. One uncle said he hadn't seen them since July 4, the aunt lives over an hour away, etc. Everyone wanted the family to speak out and they have done it. LE is not going to share information with them. It is very hard to accept and admit that someone in your family is capable of harming a child, even if you suspect that is what happened.

I can say it is hard to be the extended family. You really don't know anything helpful and you would like to do something to help, but you are limited as to what you can do.

Even when this investigation is done and they make their arrests, we still are not going to know what happened until when and if it goes to trial.

Right -let me lock my kids in the back or ill just leave them alone -it might take me two hours to "search" for you-but I'll be there ;)

Lynn-
thanks for all you do. these little ones deserved so much better!! I honestly believe that some people need to go to parenting school. ---How sad is it that 2 of these little ones mamas are having MORE children -:(.

Sometimes during these cases -there has to be light moments-or we would all be in a deep dark depression-:)

Yes, I believe she knows what happened to Aliayah. Poor little girl.

Hopefully there will be some real substantive info coming out of the press conference today @ 2 PM. It may be wishful thinking but at this point nearly six weeks later I'm really hoping there will be somethingthat will help with this case.

Lets hope this time we get some real info from the press conference.

Still praying for you little one, every day....

Less than an hour until the press conference and it doesn't look like anyone will be covering it......I'm not finding anything

What did they do - take one picture a year? And there are no pictures of the child being held by an adult or playing with her siblings? They could grey out the other faces for privacy. I have more pictures of my DD just from Halloween than they have of the entire child's life! Sad.

  • #579
I read on facebook that so far they cannot confirm anyone will be covering it, either... :(

Did anybody contact WBOY to see if they would? or are?
