I have sent an email to media friends to find out WHY the FBI would place a "gag order on them." IMO a gag order on THE PRESS would put Aliayah in further danger. As far as the extended family goes..my heart hurts for the families of missing children and adults. BUT when a family member gets information from people like LL and takes it for gospel, and then repeats it as gospel-leading other people to believe the lies, it makes me even MORE sad for Aliayah. This poor baby....

The Uncle said he had been interviewed, but did not say when it occurred.

Westinlund does raise a valid point IMO. We here at WS, have seen enough cases to know what the signs are. Pretty sure if I went back and looked, we were all scratching our heads by day 2 and by the end of the first week, felt pretty strongly that LL or RL were involved in a cover-up of Aliayah's death.

We don't know what the extended family was told by Lena or even Joann for that matter. I may eat crow later, but with this latest revelation, I'm cutting them some slack. MOO, Quack-Quack and Baaaaaaaa

BBM.... I hate to keep harping on the same point...but the other night in the Q & A, the extended family that has been vocal so far...did state that none of them has been in contact with LL.
I am NOT saying the extended family is purposely spreading lies...
But it's beginning to look to me that Grandma JOann is playing this family, not LL. IMO.

A gag order? Hmm... that doesn't sound right.

I'll admit I am a little rusty in the constitutional law area, but don't think a gag order would or even could be issued against the media in this case.

So, as I am understanding this, the gag order is only that media cannot talk to immediate family members. It is not a gag order not to report about beautiful, sad little Aliayah. I am not certain that this is that unconstitutional. Gag orders in court happen all of the time. Maybe they just didn't want the press walking into the investigation because the entire investigation is basically centering on her immediate family. KWIM??

We have to look at the Q&A from the other night as exactly what it was, an impromptu talk, unmoderated, for the family to begin to tell Aliayah's story and answer some of the questions that others have. The extended family is not familiar with the media, unfamiliar with the circumstances involved in this case and overwhelmed both emotionally and physically by everything within this case.

Some members of the family still go out daily searching areas where they feel they may find Aliayah. Others have been passing out flyers, sending out emails, making phone calls, all to further spread Aliayah's story.

This family does not have a lawyer, agent or media spokesman. They are simply normal people who have been dragged into this tragedy. These are also people who have fallen victim to LL's lies and manipulations.

Also, these family members are NOT suspects. It is not our job to pick apart each and every little statement they make, trying to find inconsistencies and falsehoods. They are just a family, talking with each other like a family talks to one another, and not everyone knows what everyone else is doing.

But the main thing to keep in mind is that they are people, normal people who have normal thoughts, normal fears and normal emotions. And these emotions are running full-force right now, and will do so until Aliayah is found or the person(s) responsible for her disappearance are brought to justice.

The media had a gag order, which denied them access to the immediate family, searchers and organizers while the search was taking place. That was the only gag order that was given, and I have confirmed that with two media representatives. That order was given to the media on Wednesday, September 28th when the FBI took over the investigation.

Repost from my 3:28PM post.

Respectfully, I agree with everything you said...but I think you misunderstood my post.
I said I think these people are being played, but not from Lena. Someone else has been feeding them stories to spread to the public, IMO.
BBM....and the Q & A was far from being unmoderated

I think what's sitting wrong with me is that there is no "in court" here (yet). There is no case, no defendant, no formally established players.

I can understand why the authorities would want a gag order... I'm just kind of raising an eyebrow at the idea that they could actually get one. Maybe you're right and this happens all the time these days. I'm frequently surprised by how seriously our liberties have been eroded.

With all due respect...

We are also "normal people" who are innocent, and just concerned about a little girl that went missing. As innocent as you are saying the family is, so were the people that were in that impromptu talk, as you put it. They deleted questions, they cursed women and MOST importantly the questions they "hand picked" were often answered with false information. How is that going to help bring Aliayah home?

While you might see it as people picking this family apart, there are those that believe this whole family is covering up the vanishing of this innocent child. You can't blame THEM for their opinions.

Can someone help me out? Didn't the great aunt state that LE told her there was a gag order? Now I'm confused, exactly who told her this? If it was Lena or Joann were they being dishonest with their own family? Or is this a game of *telephone*?

BINGO-Telephone it is!! :) At this point, Knox...Im not so sure anyone but us wants this little girl to be found. And it makes me heart sick.

my Oh my---it only makes SENSE that the press doesnt do interviews at a command center of a missing persons search. Private citizens and LE and famliy are always "protected" there. That is a HUGE difference in saying there is a gag order on the family.:banghead: <----me
And there isn't a gag order big enough for me to keep my mouth shut if one of my family members ends up missing.

I, for one, will continue to pay close attention to what everyone in the extended family has to say. Not because of who they are, but because of what they are saying. They have announced that they have not been in contact with Lena....so someone else has been telling them the things that they want said. And so far they have all been lies. Do I blame the extended family? No...they are only repeating what they have been told to say. But someone behind the scenes has been trying to steer this investigation a certain way and I have to question why? And if family is KNOWINGLY helping to steer an investigation a certain way I have to wonder why about that also.
Is family reputation more important then this little girl being found?
........ All IMO and all the other disclaimers........

Well, I consider them victims of LL's lies. If you think about it, this is a very unusual case, and by the FBI not making daily statements to the press and not maintaining contact with the extended family, this is the end result. They felt that they were following the FBI's orders.

I agree with you. I have been following the extended families' statements on facebook since they started talking and there is no doubt in my mind that they believed they weren't supposed to talk and that all photos had been taken by the FBI. They had no reason to believe anything different until they were told by the FBI.

Am I the only one that is seeing the recent actions of LL's Aunt, only as attempting to cover her butt for failure to act sooner?

In all honesty, I get the impression that she hardly even knew Aliayah...IMO
