That would be a roughly 4 hour walk.

If you were fit and young and trying to avoid being caught for murder I'll bet you could do in 2.5 hours.

Maybe it wasn't a red flag for her family, specifically because her father had already heard the story of Brian separating from Gabby in order to fly back and do the storage thing.

It doesn't have to have been the 100% simon-pure only reason; and it doesn't mean she and Brian didn't argue, etc.; it just has to be true enough for Gabby to be comfortable proffering it aloud as the sole reason.

Well no maybe. The father says it wasn't. I suppose hindsight is 20/20. It would seem the first sign of trouble her parents noticed was when his parents nor him responded to their questions.

It is also curious to me tho, why only Gabby would have been reported missing initially. At what point did anyone know for sure Brian made it back? Not that it would matter, but this undertone helps me leave a small place in my mind to understand his parents behavior. Tiny, but still there.

After I put that timeline together last night I am not confident the van was still there at that point. There is a real possibility someone else came and took it. He was on foot on 8/29 and the timeline if right has Gabby gone by 8/29 with no reason why he would not have that van unless he temporarily ditched it after the act out of fear and went back to it later. That is a possibility. It is possible he used the TikTokers as a makeshift alibi. Because by now we know he is more cunning than we first thought.
I think at the point TikTokkers let him out it's about to be dark if not already. He's got a parking lot full of folks but he might strike out. There's a solid chance that someone who'd pick up a hitchhiker (whether in the lot or back on the highway) is a longer term camper and likely not looking at national news.

That would be a roughly 4 hour walk.

I suspect they let him off right at the intersection rather than going clear back to the dam, so probably a bit less than that. What time did they say they dropped him off? I think he still had several hours of daylight.

From what I have seen neither BL nor GP are really trekkers or hikers and probably would would have low survival skills. The basic lack of water. They dont mention what they were cooking/eating. How they coped with this adventure in practical terms.

Is it possible that his parents have disclosed what they know now, and that is why the police are searching that specific campsite?
Police spokesman said this morning BL parents said nothing about Gabby, on instructions from their lawyer.

IMO phone pings were tracked to that campground.

FBI and Park Rangers search campsite believed used by missing YouTuber Gabby Petito

A team of FBI agents and park rangers have carried out a major search of a wild campsite believed to have been used by missing YouYuber Gabby Petito.

Officials spent hours searching for clues at the site at Spread Creek Road, about 20 months of Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Rangers from the National Park Service blocked the public and the media from entering the site, campers who had been using it were told to be gone by the time the search started on Saturday.

This is not only a "ditto" but an added piece to your last part: and she was already gone. Remember, this occurred on 8/29. He's really something. They need to find him right now.
Well, if that was indeed Brian, technically all we really know is that she was not with him. If you take his word for it (since he was honest enough to give his real name) she was on her own, not gone. There could be many reasons for why she was not and incommunicado with family. What I mean is, if you're gonna lie, why stop there? If you're gonna say your name to establish an alibi, why stay silent and act all shady all this time? It's very confusing.

I can't believe people are still asking why they are bothering to look for BL.

He drove back from the West to Florida in HER van. Without HER.

At the very least, he has some explaining to do.

At best, he can provide information that leads to Gabby's whereabouts.

https://westchester.com/this-whole-...an-laundrie-could-be-manipulative-controlling

She says she hung out with the couple often and while Laundrie had a sweet, nice composure - she also saw his controlling and manipulative side.
"He was always charismatic, making Gabby breakfast almost every morning and but, you know, you could see the jealousy side," Davis says. "He also wanted what he wanted when he wanted it and he'd find a way to get it. Not in a violent manner. But you know, if he didn't want Gabby to do something. He'd find a way to make it so she couldn't do it."

Davis says there were times when the couple fought and Petitio would ask to stay at Davis's house because she needed a break from Laundrie. She also says she didn't think the fighting was anything out of the ordinary for a couple.

I'm sure that tiktok has convinced herself that the hitchhiker is named Brian and that he mentioned Gabby by name before he panicked and demanded that she drop him off immediately.

Other than her after the fact story where she mentions missing Gabby and suspect fiance, what else about her story aligns with facts? Why was she in "constant contact" with FBI for days and why did she then run to FoxNews? Does she want to help, or does she want attention?

I'd say a little of both. She's gaining followers *and* helping to raise awareness about this case. I happen to believe her.

Yes, it's very unlikely there's another Brian that looks just like him, who has a blogging girlfriend etc. I just mean, if this incident was for real, wouldn't it point more to his innocence than his guilt?

This tiktok thing reminds me of the thousands of tips that investigators must get after a missing person case goes national. The tipster know roughly where the victim disappeared (Wyoming/Yellowstone), knows the names of the victim and suspect (MSM), and was in the area in the same timeframe. The tipsters saw something or met someone, and convince themselves that it is related to the disappearance.

The difference here is that the tiktok woman is telling her story on tiktok - without any photos or other corroborating information. She called in a tip to FBI. That got her no where. She went to the media. Now we should accept this tip as fact?

This has since been thought since the beginning. Even her family suggested that it could have been an autocorrect/predictive typing mistake.
But the real question is “Who sent it?”

So it looks like they went from Teton, to Jackson, ID, back to Yellowstone? That makes no sense, if what I have read has happened. Thoughts?

I don't think that's what happened. So you are correct to think it makes no sense.

Well, he either dropped her off or she met up with another hiker or two along the way. She texted her mom (if its true) on the 30th I think that she was in Yosemite. Brian could have drivin back right away and be home in Florida by September 1st.
Her mom said she was sure that text was not from Gabby, though.

I saw today the park rangers are looking in parts of yellowstone too.
If she's in Yellowstone I fear they will never find her. She could be completely boiled and burned by now. Not trying to be graphic, just realistic.

First time posting in here. Thanks to all who have provided solid theories on what happened. I have a theory of my own...

BL must have been lost if he was spending a few nights on the Snake river with only a tarp. Maybe he tried to walk to Colter Village because that seems like the closest town to the dispersed camping site, and he needed a break from GL. If he was lost, that would be a good reason to offer someone $200 to get back to GP (and the Van). The TT's story seems legit, and it sounds like he was somewhat acting normal until they got to the Dam because he missed his turn. Maybe he didn't want to admit he was lost because it was embarrassing. Maybe GP went out looking for him if he was lost. She could be lost herself, or worse, a bear or kidnapper could have found her (seeing as there are two other people missing in that area). Maybe BL got to the Van and thought that since she was gone she had broken up with him, and that she had gone to see her friend to Yellowstone or Yosemite (or whatever) as planned. It's possible he thought she left him, and drove home using a spare keys (or he had the keys). He made a breakup playlist on Spotify while driving home. 10 days later while sitting at home her parents text messaged his parents wondering where she is at. This is the first he realizes she is missing. Their fight in Utah didn't look good, and for him to be the last person who had seen her, it not a surprise that he lawyered up.
