When I was listening to Dan Abrams, legal consultant for CNN say police could easily upgrade his status to ‘suspect’ but by keeping his status as a POI, being a more conservative approach, gives the appearance of not rushing to judgement and helps the prosecution fend off defense accusations of not looking for more suspects if this goes to trial. It’s a little bit of a game that changes nothing about how committed they are to finding him. And arresting him for murder if they do. We’re watching the manhunt when LE is also launching an intense investigation putting together all the leads and building a pretty tight timeline. IMO.
Thank you, this explains a lot to me! I had wondered if the status had some limits on the resources applied, but it thankfully seems not.

I wonder if I could, you know, donate money to the park for another camera or two… And if a bunch of people were willing to…. Jk (sort of). But so many of us feel helpless watching these events unfold and I do wish there was a way we could help.
That’s sweet but I’m sure they got all the resources they need. I’m wondering where do they go if he’s not found there.

The John Walsh show tonight was not about GP or BL. They had a brief tip segment about 50 minutes into the show and that was it.

Time and day
Brian Laundrie argued in Wyoming restaurant hours before Gabby Petito vanished: eyewitnesses

Angelo said she and her boyfriend, Matthew England, were in town for a wedding in late August. They were out to lunch at Merry Piglets, a Tex-Mex restaurant, between 1 and 2 p.m. on Aug. 27, when they said an agitated Laundrie began arguing with a waitress. Four and a half hours later, a travel-blogging couple passed Petito's van at a campsite north of town.

Geez… I didn’t realize the restaurant sighting was so close to the time the Behune family saw the van. In theory, he could have lost it on Gabby after that restaurant situation happened and she could have been dead or dying in the back of the van when the Behune’s drove by, thus necessitating him to quickly shut the back door when he heard them coming. MOO.

must have been too close to broadcast to change much, he did say though in one of his interviews they would cover it this week on wednesday ( today )

so something must have changed or gone wrong where they couldn't make it happen, maybe in the next couple of weeks then

my copy is only 42 minutes long and it doesn't even have the tip segment you are speaking about

No, I really think that because they keep pushing that he's not a suspect, etc and so on, that we can't expect the FBI to be violating any of their civil rights or privacy.
I respectfully disagree. The FBI and other LE are pursuing it all. The legal distinction between POI and suspect is subjective. OJ was a POI for a long while even after they found his bloody clothes discarded in a trash can at LAX on his way out of town.

An arrest warrant that they won't make public until he's captured.
That has to be filed before they arrest him. That has to be already done then and filed by the court. So I doubt that’s the case unless it’s on public record already and was approved by a judge. Plus he’s not guilty for anything right now and can go anywhere he wants as he’s technically a free man until charged. He could go to Mexico if he wants.

This makes me so sad. Something has gone on in Gabby's life that makes her feel that this behavior is somehow something that she has to apologize for.
It's also a testimony of her good character and nature.
She was just passing through, would never have needed to meet those people again, yet- she returned and apologised on his behalf.
A shining light!

My theory is that they were arguing in the back of that van and didn’t want anyone to see/hear, trying to avoid police being called on them again. Possibly Gabby left to “cool off” (or was ordered by BL to do so) and he followed her to the area where she was killed.

Yes sorry was frustrated lol

I did find the daily Mail video that shows the walk and the area. Depending what way one is facing its not far from trees but also not far from the creek. It just different angles of the same spot. (And I have no idea if there is one or two crosses now bc things are contradicting)

Video: Stone cross arranged where body of Gabby Petito was found | Daily Mail Online

There's a jump cut in that video right before it shows the cross, so it does not show the entire walk to where she was found. Also, the creek that is crossed in that video is not Spread Creek. It's a tiny creek that runs next to where they parked.

Gray Hughes measured the distance using google earth on one of his lives and it is appx 870 yards (Correction s/b 283 yards)

Yes I definitely believe a new show featuring them is coming up. John was very passionate and angry talking about it. I saw both of his interviews today on Fox and CNN.

The tip segments are right before and after commercials, probably not technically part of the show itself. I recorded it for the specific reason to see about the case.

just a detain and question or detain and hold

they can do that without naming him a suspect im pretty sure, so if he tried to cross a border or get out via a port they would pick him up
Right..so I don't think he's left the country...at least not legally.

If he crossed the border MOO he was well across before Friday and they found out he wasn’t there.

I heard on Fox one of the hosts say that as soon as he went missing a travel alert one have been placed on him by the FBI.

Do we know when or by whom he was officially pronounced "missing"? The FBI or the parents or other? I have not read all the threads here (has anyone read them all?!), so I guess missed that info along with whatever else... TIA.

Found this interactive map/timeline that seems to line up with most (if not all) of the events we have in our pinned posts here. Just a neat little resource.

My thought has been that the plan had been to set up camp there that night the 27th but it didn’t happen bc we know why now. I feel like her flip flops seen outside the van on the 27th along with a book and flashlight may have been items she’d bring along for the night and placed there while getting ready to take with and set up camp. IMO the youtubers drove by right around the time of what occurred and that’s why there was no sign of anyone but those items were still on the ground.
I'm not understanding the concept of "setting up camp". They camp in a van. They might own a tent, but that doesn't mean it has to be set up every night. Besides, this was not a legal camping spot. It was just a pull over. If you had a bed in the van, you can simply lay low. IMO no way you're advertising your presence by pitching an illegal tent. So, I don't think we'll want to assume we have to figure out where and when they put up a tent.
Just to illustrate, if you use any light in a tent, they kind of jump out of the darkness at you. No way you'd be out there doing this in an illegal spot. IMO

It’s the same day that red white and Bethune caught video of the white van at spread creek. Where she was found dead.
Do we KNOW this is the site they were refering to. I haven’t seen anything that says the merry piglet couple was at spread creek, just that the passed them north of town.

He probably went in the reserve Tuesday night. Put his cell phone 5 miles into the reserve in a tree and left. His parents during their camping trip got him a burner phone. So LE could be tracking his phone pings and he isn’t even there but his phone is while he’s in Mexico. Hasn’t been charged so he’s technically a free man and laughing at LE basically looking for a phone in a tree with no person to find

So if he is just missing and they found him they couldn’t do anything to him correct? He isn’t formally charged with anything. So they find him and he’s free to leave anyways correct? They cant throw him in jail so why even look for him if he’s not going to be detained?
They can hold him/arrest him. His legal status will be upgraded when/if they find him alive.

That's the thing. A massive search like this makes sense if he is a fugitive, but little sense otherwise.

I suspect he'll be arrested when/if he's found. Just because he hasn't been charged yet, doesn't mean he won't be when they get their hands on him.
