Quoting from the last thread :

Found Deceased - WY - Gabrielle ‘Gabby’ Petito, 22, Grand Teton National Park, 25 Aug 2021 #30 | Page 47

The only difference is that your wife isn't deceased by a homicide (thankfully !), you're not driving a car without permission after the owner has passed, and to be honest -- no one said hiking the trail is indicative of criminality.
No one was sleuthing ill intent until Brian was declared a poi , and after it was official that Gabby passed from homicide.

Add grand theft to that, and yes people will sleuth this man to find out where he is hiding and if he's had help ?

People were sleuthing to find Gabby and if she had gone off with a different party and neglected to inform her loved ones.
Her parent's demeanor at the presser left me with no doubt we were looking at a criminal scenario.

The purpose of WS is to sleuth and post theories, and it brings us together --- those who have a common sympathy and most of all compassion for the innocent victims.
Gabby was a bright light that did not deserve the hand she was dealt by an unspeakable perp.

It helps to understand the goal of this site, and why we are all posting and sleuthing for the truth.

Imo.

I wasn't dissing on this site. This site is awesome. I was commenting on how guilty I would look if someone started looking into my history. I've lived a long and varied life and had a lot of fun doing it. I'm impressed with all the things I've learned here that has surprised me, people can see whats on your music playlist if you haven't turned that off. That your site searches on The Dyrt and AllTrails might not be private. and so on.

Strongly suspect that parents know where BL is (they show no sign of being even remotely concerned about his well-being, no appeals, no interviews, just totally clamming up and visiting lawyer).

Lawyer will have told them in no uncertain terms that if they are protecting BL they are staring down the barrel of a Federal gun. They are not that young. Moreover, people are going to hate them if they've been assisting BL.

Cops are going to be very, very, very pissed at them if the whole search has been a wild goose chase or they've been withholding info.

It is clearly in BL's best interests to turn himself in at this point (as it always was).

At some point they're going to fold.

The weirdest thing to me is that they don't seem to feel that under pressure.
bbm
You think ? :D
Great post, btw.

On the bright side for the Laundry parents and son -- maybe they'll be housed in the same jail unit?
If the parents are charged, that is.
We know Brian's facing grand theft.
Imo.

Sorry if this is an obvious question but I'm really curious about police apparently doing surveillance on the parents today when they went to the lawyer. I'm not stanning for the parents here, just genuinely curious how the law works. To surveil someone, must there be some kind of evidence? Does it need anything like a warrant? I guess what I'm asking is if surveilling the parents suggests anything about their status in this investigation?

  • Christopher Laundrie, 62, and wife Roberta, 55, were spotted in Orlando, Florida, on Thursday, hours after breaking cover and leaving their North Port home
  • The couple drove 150 mi to Orlando to meet attorney Steve Bertolino and to stop at a library, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal
  • A federal arrest warrant was issued for their son Brian on Wednesday
  • In surreal scenes, undercover agents - believed to be the FBI - followed the Laundries inside and hovered in the aisles as they kept their eyes on them
  • They waited inside the library for around 30 minutes, not stopping to look at a single book or display, before hopping back into their red Dodge Ram truck
  • The pair stopped by another building for an hour before driving back home, tailed the entire way by the same convoy of unmarked law enforcement vehicles
  • Earlier on Thursday, the Laundries were seen returning to their home after a trip to the police station in North Port
  • At the same time, Brian Laundrie's silver Mustang was returned by a tow truck crew after being seized by FBI agents on Monday
  • The vehicle was impounded after it was found abandoned last week at the nearby Carlton nature reserve

I wondered if it was voice to text....sometimes those get funky...
Oh, that's interesting. This actually seems to me like a good possibility. Might be that she said "grandpa stan" and it dropped the "grandpa". She might have been trying to get a quick message out because she thought something was wrong with him based on the number of calls and VMs, and didn't have time (or the ability, from Wyoming) to help him with whatever he was calling about.

He can't keep his trap shut either. When they nab him he might implicate his own parents the way he yammers on.

You're after giving me visions of painful things done with plastic forks in high security prisons cos future dangerousness... I'll relish them awhile and spare everybody..
Wow Plastic bottles-plastic forks. BL just can't get away from plastic.

I've said this previously but I feel there is a real possibility that BL blocked Gabby's parents numbers.
The texts and calls wouldn't have come through to the Laundries.
BL could have potentially continued with his fairy tale to his parents, maybe they broke up and she continued on with a friend.
They'd have had no clue until LE came calling once GP was reported missing.

MOO
Extremely good point.

I really thought the parents would have been polygraphed by now.
This kid is very impulsive. Doesn't seem to have impulse control or any coping mechanisms when he gets frustrated.
Has he ever faced repercussions/consequences for outbursts? And where did he learn that it is acceptable to hit/slap your partner?
Probably at home.
This seems to be his first serious relationship? I was surprised to hear he had already proposed to Gabby while not having a job/career/education plan of his own. And his mother was reportedly overjoyed when she heard about the proposal. I bet she felt relief knowing that her troubled son finally found someone special who could tolerate him. Her son getting married young, not pursuing education, living in her home is the best outcome she had ever hoped for.
Feelin' a little salty today...

The parents can refuse a polygraph. Which would be typical of the behavior we have seen so far.

He got scared and went home to mama and dada. Didn’t know what to do. And they did put a legal hold on the matter.

the parents called an attorney they knew. Did exactly what he said to do. No idea what story BL gave them. Really, best thing for parents is to keep mum. If they knew he killed her, then they are up for charges. But no way for Feds to find out if they all don’t say. Best thing legally is for all of them to sa nothing and let the Prosecutor put together a case and let defense attorney tear it down with other possibilities.

The lawyer's advice not to talk to the cops is excellent legal advice IF AND ONLY IF Brian told them that Gabby was dead. There could be no legal jeopardy arising from talking to the cops if no crime had been committed.

Honestly, at this point I think his parents are complicit. Maybe they weren't in the beginning because he fed them a line of BS or maybe he came clean and they've been trying to do damage control the whole time. Either way, I very strongly believe they are now complicit. And I would not be surprised if their 3 day camping trip dropped him off somewhere far away.

Or make plans. Get a burner phone, cash card, bus ticket. I assume that bus would be the transportation, not air. He is easy to recognize, however, probably easy to change appearance. No beard, wig, and big covid face mask.

I'm sorry, I thought someone asked if he checked himself or his parents checked him into a hospital while he's "missing" or "wanted", which he is, if the hospital would tell law enforcement. I'm still pretty sure the answer is yes because HIPAA allows a hospital on its own initiative to disclose protected health information to law enforcement as necessary for law enforcement to *identify* or *apprehend* an individual who has escaped from a correctional institution or from lawful custody.
I didn't see that, these threads are moving so fast it's hard to keep up! I thought it was just a question about if HIPPA was still viable if he had voluntarily checked himself in and because he's never been in custody or escaped from an institution I was thinking ihat no, it wouldn't be applicable.

And I've never heard of a criminal staying in hospital indefinitely to avoid criminal charges.

Quite the contrary. Hospitals still have regulations. They can't just ignore that someone came in with a gunshot wound or were stabbed - and not involve the police.

I can't find the comment now but I believe the Appalachians are mountains/system of mountain ranges, in which the AT is at.

At the point BL was declared a missing persons, notification from LE would have gone to most area in patient centers. They are then obligated to report if he is there. And if he entered any once he was in national news they would also be obligated to report. HIPAA laws do not apply to law enforcement in missing persons cases and absolutely not now that he’s a fugitive.
Yes, for the safety of patients and staff.
