We don't know how much cash he has, just that it's over $1k.
Perhaps he just swings past Steve Bertolino's place or that of some NY relative if he needs more. Let's face it NY is the ideal place for him in terms of money resupply and places to go to be with covid masking, family friends and relatives up there ...

I think that was just another one of his lies/boasts. If you look on his Instagram he is often shown wearing hiking shoes or at least shoes that are more appropriate for walking in the wilderness.

Example:

Login • Instagram
I have gone hiking barefoot on occasion. I once, moons ago, hiked the Kalalau trail (11 miles one way) barefoot. My feet were tough though from years of going barefoot. Yes, hippie island life. No ka 'oi.

Gabby's Dad was NOT THERE.

Gabby Petito’s family lawyer casts doubt on ‘incident’ with father at Laundrie’s home

September 10 is when Joe Petito called the North Port, [Florida] police department to report his daughter missing,” Mr Stafford told The Independent. “That whole day he was in Vero Beach, which was on the other side of the state. ““He’s never even been to Brian Laundrie’s house, and he’s never been on the block,”
Just to add more info on the 9/10 police visit. Joseph Petito never went to the Laundrie home. Several news articles. Maybe we can put this to bed? :)

"Joe Petito did not physically go to the Laundrie home, but “expressed concern” over his daughter, the outlet reported Thursday"
Police went to Laundrie home day before Gabby Petito reported missing

"Petito did not go to the home physically, North Port police said separately, but expressed concern about his daughter's whereabouts."
Missing Gabby Petito's dad linked to Laundrie home incident report evening before daughter reported missing

North Port police confirmed that Joseph expressed concerns over his daughter being missing, but did not visit the home physically.
Who is Joseph Petito? Missing Gabby's father expresses despair in Instagram post

Actually, that is a question I have wondered about. The video of Red White & Bethune who happened to spot GP’s van on 08/27 showed flip flops at the back of the van. I’ve always wondered if when LE went back to that site where they were parked, were the flip flops still there...and if so, whose were they?? That is one image that sticks w/me(sadly)

I think it's fair to say they went back to where the van was parked because GP's remains were found somewhat near it. As for the rest, we can only speculate. They probably wouldn't miss a detail like this.

I've been reading articles about that very first press conference that her parents gave, shortly after they reported her missing. I find that I often see things that I didn't notice the first time around, and often the early articles contain things that people involved subsequently stop talking about.

Mother of missing Gabby Petito says boyfriend and his family IGNORED her desperate texts | Daily Mail Online

In this article, GP's mother talks about how BL's mother welcomed her warmly into the household, knit GP gifts for Christmas, and was very excited when the two got engaged. She goes on to say that she is now wondering if her daughter's relationship with BL "isn't what it seemed."

So, the idea that her mother had concerns about BL or didn't like his parents, doesn't seem to be true. GP's father has said in interviews that he didn't like any of her boyfriends, but I don't get the sense that he had grave reservations about the relationship until GP went missing.

Given what we know about the stop in Moab, I think this means that GP didn't always confide everything in her parents, and may have put a happy face on things, even when there were problems. I have been in the position of not wanting to "badmouth" a boyfriend for fear that it would turn my parents permanently against him. I don't think it's uncommon not to share everything with your parents at that age.

Apache truck campers similar to the Laundries -- and features vary quite a bit -- cost new around $30,000 and up.
I just checked an ad.
Source:
How Much Do Truck Campers Cost? (With 21 Examples)
OK - to add to the discussion of the Apache camper, my husband and I had one in late 90's. Ours was sized for a full size truck bed, no back hangover. They are not called towable, they don't have a hitch, only sit between the wheel well in the truck bed and are bolted down by eye bolts. We had a 2 burner propane stove, a short 2-way refrig, no bathroom. Even in the later model we saw with a bathroom, it only consisted of a petition at the back with a basic RV potty. I have not studied the picture of the parents camper, or their truck. The insides of these are quite compact, we didn't want to waste cabinet/storage space for just a RV potty. I believe according to the color of the strips on the outside that their's in a used model although it does look to have roof A/C which later models came out with. I am more interested in when they bought the camper. Was it after BL arrived home? MOO

As a side note, by taking precautions (looking out for them, noting signs of their presence, knowing which local areas to avoid due to chummed waters etc, keeping out of the water at certain times), one can canoe, fish, wade and even swim in alligator areas for extended periods of time with out ever being attacked by one- well almost always.

In the end, alligators are far more deadly in movies rampaging though New York sewers than they are in reality.

As for the idea of hiding in a swamp, I think it depends on who is doing the hiding. Familiarity can lead to effective hiding.

I think there is a pretty good chance that the suspect is comfortable outdoors and does not get easily fazed by swamps and associated creepy crawlies. Rather, he could be pretty comfortable in them- at least for a period of time.
I've been around alligators many times close-up, so I'm not basing my opinion on "alligators in the sewers." I've been to Okeefenokee Swamp in southern Georgia, which is like Alligator Central, and there are no gates or barriers between the visitors and the gators. But there are warning signs everywhere, and it's probably not a good idea to leave.your small child alone near the water there. I've been to Congaree Swamp in South Carolina where people have gotten lost for days just wandering away from the walkways. My daughter went to Law School in South Carolina. True, I've never been attacked, but I also wasn't going to camp at night near a lake full of alligators. I think alligators are dangerous animals. JMOO and what I've learned from my own experiences.

On Sept. 10th, Gabby's mother tried to report Gabby missing in NY, and Suffolk County Police would not take the report. She persisted and connected with Tracy Barry, on September 11th, whom she calls her "angel."

Mother of missing Gabby Petito says boyfriend and his family IGNORED her desperate texts | Daily Mail Online

On the same day, she said in one of the first interviews, she also texted BL and his mother and did not get a response.

I would imagine that she and Gaby's father were in contact and were both worried and were both trying, to get the attention of the police, she in NY and he in FL. My guess (MOO) is that that's the reason for the calls that were placed on September 10th in North Port.
Any clue to if the calls on September 10th, were the calls from the Laundrie’s home or from outside the home ?

Which just makes it all so strange that the Laundries never answered any of the calls or texts from Gabby's family.

Idk, New York is expensive (unless he's suddenly taken up busking to earn income). Masking applies to pretty much anywhere in the Northeast right now, and I feel like staying with family or friends is a bad idea; LE will explore those possibilities. MOO, I'll keep my eyes peeled up here in CT, but I doubt he's anywhere particularly populated. He's persona non grata.

I live about 5 minutes away from his lawyer and about 10 minutes away from where he lived on LI and I can tell you people are on alert with eyes open here as much as they are down there..

I would like to hear your answers to the following. All Opinion Only.

1) Do you believe BL killed Gabby? (If not, scroll and roll)
2) When ?
3) Why ?
4) Premeditated and Deliberated or something lesser ? Accident ? How did he kill her?
5) How did BL become the person he is ?

For me it’s
1). Yes
2). On August 27 shortly after the Merry Pigs incident.
3). He felt she “made him look bad” by apologizing to the staff for his behavior and his ego could not handle that - he has no self awareness. It was like a last straw on the trip in his mind. I also feel he is psychotic.
4) Yes thought about it for some length of time however short. Deliberately delivered a blow.
5) Spoiled by mother who overlooks all his faults. Fruit and trees scenario. MOO

I have enjoyed the Okeefenokee as well. I was really impressed by "Okefenokee Joe", though he died recently.

As for alligators being dangerous, I agree- they can be very dangerous.

Thanks. Yes, I would think that Gabby was well-liked by BL's parents ... after all they housed and presumably fed her for two years.
Perhaps the tension lay with Gabby's father and them, if he didn't like any of her boyfriends.

I agree that if they thought Gabby was in a dangerous relationship, her parents would have tried to bring her home or get her out of there.

I agree.... but just seeing those flip flops outside the back of the van in that image when they passed..
I don’t know if they were GP or BL. Maybe some day we will know, maybe not... or maybe I don’t want to know.

You are right, and alligators should be taken seriously. It is true that they are naturally afraid of humans. However, you never know when the one swimming past you or the one you're about to step on because you can't see has been fed by humans and lost that fear, or is guarding a nest, or whatever that might make them lash out. It's very dangerous and minimizing the risk of alligators or suggesting that they are only deadly in the movies is unwise, especially if you're, say, on the run from the feds and trying to hide in swampy regions. JMO, MOO, etc.

Debit cards could have also been used to purchase goods - not simply withdraw cash. May not have much cash at all.

I think he confided in his parents and that’s why no calls or texts were answered - I don’t buy the “break up angle so don’t answer her parents calls” at all.
