Finally got to a place where I could listen to this. He makes for an even less credible witness having gotten BL's last name wrong. That's pretty strange since he said he just Googled him. Hmmm

I actually find it more credible that he got the name wrong. I struggled with the name myself initially. I kept saying Lowry or Landry, names that I'm familiar with. I find it very normal that he could see the name and still not have it register fully. I'd likely do not the same thing, especially in a heightened state. How many reporters have we heard mispronounce his name? I know I've heard it repeatedly. I've seen his name misspelled in more articles than I can count.

I believe him.

MOO.

I 100% agree with you.
Ditto. He got the name wrong. He didn’t know what Brian even looked like in the first place. He gave no distinguishing characteristics about Brian’s hair, face, hands. I believe he thinks he is telling the truth. I just think he is mistaken and it wasn’t Brian.

If you lived in the Appalachian mountains (or where you believe BL is hiding) and a former FBI told you he is not armed and dangerous - first of all he doesn't know that. He can't say that. He isn't involved in the case.

Second, I didn't say I know it, I said I believe it. So his position, his certainty about the matter could lead to harm to the general public. Hope you can see the difference between his sharing his certainty to the general public and me sharing my opinion on Websleuths.

He has not been publicly considered armed and dangerous by any law enforcement agency as of this time.

Do you know who posted it or the post and thread number so we can see it in context?

I responded to post 973 by Cedar Sherwood, who was responding to this post by Sassafras:

Sassafrass said:
I like your comment. However - he did not seem awkward or inarticulate at the Moab stop, and that would seem to be a very high-stress situation, at least before he could see that he was not being looked at as the potential aggressor.

Sorry for not giving the post number. I quoted Cedar Sherwood's post in my reply, and I was responding to his tone of hesitancy and caution concerning drawing conclusions regarding Brains personality or concluding that he as a batterer of Gabby.

The point of my post, is that given the amount of evidence there now is, I don't feel any need to be hesitant about stating my opinion that Brian murdered Gabby, and that is now why he is on the run (or dead, as a few others feel).

S

So I just listened and thank you for posting it

Couple of things. Why didn’t DD stop and make his report if it was so important? Also driving a newer pickup truck? Going to California!
Can you imagine how many calls and tips they get?
Good hunting for the local Bounty Hunters!

DD said he didn't initially stop and report it because there was no service where he was and he wanted to look at some pictures to make sure it was Brian:

The Haywood County, North Carolina, Sheriff's Office said on their dispatch that they received a call from Davis after 2 a.m. Saturday near the Waterville exit, where he had cell service again to look at more photos of Laundrie.
Hiker claims he saw Brian Laundrie near Appalachian Trail

See approx minute 24-26, "we're a team, please please..."

That video still of GP crying with her head in her hands is so, so sad :(

I wish I could rewind time and talk to them both and try and persuade them to each go home to their respective families.

I am just at a loss now as to what to believe. I really believed the Davis sighting. However, now Dog is saying he doesn’t believe it and he has found a prior connection between BL and Davis!??? Whatttt?!

Whaaaat!!? I'm just getting on here today... DTBH is saying that there's a connection between DD and BL!? So DD might have been another decoy?

Lawdy..

Exactly. If there is a manhunt for anyone dangerous the headlines will say LE believe he is armed and dangerous, believed to be in this area so keep your children indoors or under watch at all time.

I understand what you're saying, but if you're not out experiencing and getting footage, what will you have to produce? Her first posting included scenes from their trip to California the year before. Was that a sign she was short on content? I'm not criticizing her in any way...I just think it may explain her anxiety level--to stay and edit, or to go and get the photography from the locations they were there to explore.
I agree. My son is quite involved in this social media stuff and yes, we wait for uploads and downloads to accomplish this when travelling. Neither of their follower counts or social media involvement prior to this trip stands out as something they care much about. It is just odd to me. MOO.

Also, having just done our own custom van refit for the trip we took in June as a precursor to many more to come, we subscribe to many of the same monetized Vanlife channels. Nothing either of them produced fit into this space or category. Most of that type of money making content includes either product promotion and/or insight, advice, education, tips or tricks filmed and shared with talking involved, not just video collages with a music background. It is all very odd to me and makes little sense. Again MOO!

Anyone kind of at the point where they think LE and FBI know where BL is for sure and they are just waiting until they compile enough charges before they arrest him? Why else would they not be calling eyewitnesses back, seemingly uninterested in the details…unless they knew where he was? I know the right to a speedy trial in Wyoming has been discussed before but I’m thinking this is exactly why the searches are scaled back. I think initially they may have been looking for evidence from cellphone pings etc.?

This would be the likely approach if they believe he is suicidal, would it not? among other scenarios
I’m glad you understood what I was trying to say. I should have just came right out and said that. My mind is in my childhood and I heard those stories like that when I was a kid. Hunting is a waiting game of patience and lots of it!. They want a live Brian Laundrie. They don’t want to hurt him. They just want to catch him.

I can't even look... what on earth kind of experience does this lawyer have?

My question is because the entire rules of engagement were changed after Waco and the Branch Davidians; to the point that a documentary film lensed upon the topic, in fact has "Rules of Engagement" as its subtitle.

Now, I admit I don't know how precisely this works if the bad actor is not posing a known danger to anyone else; but I do know that if the bad actor does/is, it's literally against FBI rules and regulations to sit on a location without going in and dragging the perp out.

Some of us recently (re)learned this when it had to be cast up to the top of our collective brains, with regards to Jayme Closs being kidnapped and held hostage by that appalling snail trail of a human being.

I wouldn't necessarily expect The Sun to know this (though research could teach them this); I would expect the Alabama attorney to know this.
Very interesting indeed.

BL is a POI in a Homicide. BL is a fugitive on the run.

Common sense has to prevail here. I suspect he is very much armed with at least a knife if not a gun or both.

Which Laundrie will Blink first?

For longtime Websleuthers, what is the typical arc for a case like this? Of course in the beginning there's a ridiculous amount of interest often furthered by the evidence, a better understanding of the timeline, interviews conducted with people close to the case, etc. But there must come a time when new information stops coming in, the amount of visible media attention dwindles, and updates from LE become less frequent, etc. When do you begin focusing on other cases even though the one you have been so wrapped up in still remains unsolved?
When do we begin focusing on other cases? Most of us always focus on other cases. Just because we're not posting doesn't mean we aren't reading.
As for when do we get tired and stop posting or following an unsolved case? Never. See Liberty German and Abigail Williams for reference. The beauty of this site is that it includes not only more recent cases, but it has cases that haven't been solved no matter how long ago.

Could be. But if BL had access to a pickup truck, IMHO, he'd be farther away than North Carolina. But then, gas prices are high, and he may have a limited amount of funds.

If you want a theory as to whether this putative Brian-with-a-truck would lag so much in heading to where ever he is now, mine would be that he's the. type of person who would gradually adjust to his new life by heading someplace familiar. Instead of realizing in advance that the AT is a place where he's going to be recognized sooner rather than later, he went there and then realized it. He then took a couple of days to adjust his thinking and make a newer plan. This will be a pattern in his cognition, IMO (if he's alive).

I also think BL is not a good navigator. I also think he spends a lot of time on the ground every day, walking around. To get across the US quickly, he would need to abandon that, and it seems to me, that aside from his rapid drive back to FL after GTNP, and the ride between FL and Kansas, they were accustomed to a very relaxed travel style, allowing both of them plenty of outdoor time.

This is in keeping with @RickshawFan 's theory that BL lacks a certain amount of "common sense." He has his own drummer.

not really...I don't think (I hope anyway) they wouldn't waste all those resources if they knew where he was. That would be in really poor taste.

Can any one of us say we haven't seen BL since he disappeared? I've seen him numerous times. Or some guy that looks just like him.
I made it a point when I'm driving/out, to see how many people look like him. I've seen a ton. LOL
