I have thought for a long time that the report that the swim lessons were at the YMCA were wrong. I guessed that the Krims were Jewish when I read this (emphasis mine):

JUST AN FYI: May be Off Topic.

Just as all denomination can join the "Y" it is not only a Christen org.
The JCC also has many people of other faiths not only Jewish people.

At family wedding, memorial etc.. - i didn't see people wearing kippah(s)

... Marina's maiden name isn't Jewish either ...

... So even if Kevin is Jewish (which again I am not sure) ... unless Marina converted Jewish, by Jewish laws:

If the mother is Jewish - kids are Jewish

If the mother isn't Jewish - kids aren't Jewish...

... something like that ...

Elsewhere i read that Marina, especially, was very active in that JCC ..

But one doesn't have to be Jewish to belong to JCC (i know this from our Winnipeg's JCC)

So again.. who knows ... if they are Jewish .. or who of them is Jewish and who is not .. or how many % any of them Jewish (biologically speaking) or not

There are Spanish speaking Jews. I was good friends growing up (in Texas) with a girl who was absolutely Spanish speaking at home and absolutely Jewish. Her first name was Spanish, and her surname was Jewish (Lederman)

I went to synagogue with her.

The Krim's origins are California. There are certainly strong Spanish roots there. The children have Latin sounding name Leo Hidalgo, Lucia…

My best guess is that they were of mixed heritage.

As others have said, it is irrelevant, other than understanding that they were not members of the Y, but the JCC - which may or may not mean they are Jewish.

The "bacon" comment I quoted was the first thing I read that made me wonder if they might be Jewish.

Where were YO, Lulu, & Leo from 3:15-5:00pm? IF the reported phone call is true, I think that will supply answers to a lot of my questions. I also think LE would know exactly where YO was by a ping on her phone. I am honestly thinking YO went somewhere other than the Krim's apt after picking up Lulu from school.

Glad I could help. Regarding the dance class, it feels like a fairly safe assumption. The timing is right, we know the family was active there, and The Daily Mail article quotes an employee from, "The swim and dance facility" (yes, I know the Daily Mail is sensational.)

I don't know how long NK's swim class was, but, if it lasted an hour, it may have taken a few minutes to dry off and change, then wait for YO and other kids thinking they were coming, call YO once or twice wondering why they weren't at dance class, walk three blocks back to the apartment, go upstairs, see dark apartment, go downstairs, talk to the doorman, and finally go back upstairs, and flip on the bathroom light. It does say, "around" 5:30, perhaps it was a little earlier. Starting with a wet 3 year old, I can easily see all that taking nearly an hour.
