Hey! That's me!
The crux of the Frank affidavit is "RA didn't do it, these racist evil Odinites did!"
Why does Odinism have ties to racism? That is a long long long answer but the very high level is due to 18th-20th century European nationalism movements using Norse/Germanic myths and...
National Socialist Movement - aka modern Nazis (link goes to the SPLC, it's a safe click)
Yes! That wisdom was the runes aka written language. The proto-Germanic people (the folks who existed before the Norse or Germanic) were an almost completely oral society. Imagine how life changing a...
A few points.
1. Vinlanders are a secular motorcycle gang. They are not religious according to the SPLC. In my experience, you would not see an Odinist in another gang except the NSM and maybe the Aryan Brotherhood.
2. They do need to know the difference because these are so vastly different...
How do we know anyone isn't a white supremacist? I don't know, but in my experience, if they were, it would be easy to find a trail on them via social media, membership in racist groups, etc. I have looked and not seen anything of the kind.
Heathens are polytheists - which means they worship many gods. One of the gods they worship is Odin. So yes, it makes sense for Heathens to have religious paraphernalia that relates to Odin. The patches they were wearing are similar in meaning to a St Michael's Patch many Christians would wear...
I went on Court TV last night, and made the mistake of reading the comments. It amazes me that even after explaining the difference between Asatru, Heathenry, and Odinism, people are still insisting they are all the same.
Just a reminder -
Odinism: a prison gang with religious influences...
I actually know half a dozen or so. Not many, mostly because Freemasonry is dying off in general since it hasn't had much appeal to younger GenX and down. With one exception, all the ones I know are over 55.
You are a polytheist I assume?
The guards are Heathen, which is an inclusive form of Germanic and Norse Paganism. They worship Odin. Odinists don't have the monopoly on one God.
I would even argue Odinists don't really worship Odin. The founder of modern Odinism, Else Christensen, was far...
Why does a Christian wear a cross? Why does a Muslim woman wear a hijab? Why does a Wiccan wear a pentacle? It is an expression of their faith.
If that patch alone was evidence enough to find someone guilty, I know a dozen members of our military who have them on their bags and personal gear...
Hey y'all,
I'm your new resident expert on Odinism. My name is Lauren Crow, and I am the president and CEO of The Troth, the largest international Germanic and Norse Pagan in the world. I have been on Websleuths as well as Murder Sheet and Court TV.
I am also a historian of modern Paganism...
I don't get why she wasn't protected (and wouldn't be protected when she was over 18) if she was a victim, especially a minor. Honestly, this makes me really angry.
It's a really complicated question of who gets these drugs because of the ethical implications. From this article on CNN, the World Health Organization is going to bring together an ethics commission to decide who they will recommend should get the drug, but they won't be brokering the drug...
Part of me wants to believe that he is just grossly negligent and selfish. Maybe because I don't want to believe someone would do something so horrible.
There are two Greenwoods in Arkansas, and I always forget where the other is. I thought it might be in Yell Co.
Police are mandated reporters, and I guess that is why I am so baffled by this. As a seminary student, I've been through mandated reporter training, so I guess that is why I feel...
I am absolutely heartbroken reading the affidavit. Meth is a huge problem in Arkansas, and this isn't the first time that I have seen something tragic happen because of it. I do have to wonder why the Yell County Sheriff's office did not involve DHS (our version of CPS) during the previous calls...
I wonder if proper precautions were taken for those workers who were decontaminating the suits. It wouldn't take much for a spray of water to hit body fluids and splash back on someone.
That is entirely plausible. The one thing that sticks with me, however, is the father was having issues with his psychiatric medications. I wonder if the mother left the baby in his care, and somehow the child died (accident or otherwise) and they were trying to dump the body.
I've been lurking around here for a bit, and this is my first post. However, I have some insight into how these healthcare workers were exposed. I've worn PPE before, and even in air conditioning, they are incredibly uncomfortable and hot. Most of the medical facilities that these healthcare...
