Glad I was never sympathetic to this woman. I thought the initial coverage was very, very easy on her, just because of her status as a middle-class doctor. There was widespread hand-wringing and the assumption that the poor thing must have been catastrophically mentally ill.
But no, it was...
It's hard to comprehend. From her confessional post-it note, she was saying things like "all taking over my life, overwhelming fear, panic, how will things ever be the same - they can't" "I'm a horrible evil person and I pay for that every day". In her 2017 post-it she was begging for help. So...
I'm heeeere!
Sorry for my absence. On Thursday, I left at 5:40am and only had 90 minutes sleep, and didn't get into court until 12:15pm (thanks to a stupid taxi driver - should have walked). I slept on the train home then didn't get the energy to write my second post. I had to go on a...
Mini update during lunch:
Judge Goss seems like a bumbling sweet grandad and keeps stumbling over his words. Sometimes really badly, including solemnly saying that Baby M did *not* recover from his vigorous resuscitation, when he actually survived.
There was lots and lots of medical detail for...
They never bother with the off peak/ anytime thing at my local station - the off peak tickets don’t work at the wrong time through the ticket gates but the guards always look at my ticket and let me through!
I’m going to be there at court at about 11:45. Got the train. Some jobsworth twat has just made me get a 30 minute later train because I had an off peak ticket
Didn’t LL go on about the chest drains only being taped on instead of stitched in, like she’d seen in Liverpool? Almost like it had occurred to her the chest drains could easily be tampered with, and she was setting the scene.
This reminds me of something about Baby J: Letby banged on and on...
A lot of this fits with what we’ve surmised about LL.
She has obvious narcissistic tendencies, which is rooted in deep-seated shame at feeling inadequate. She said she was “not good enough” in her note.
She is scornful of everyone less or more qualified than herself, as proven by her...
IMO he would have been better off not reminding the jury of Baby E’s screams at all, than disputing the mother’s account.
It’s not like the screams are vital to the prosecution’s case for this charge.
Buying a 3 bedroom family home as a single 26 year old is an expensive move. She didn’t have a lodger. A small flat, or even a two bedroom house, would have been cheaper and had a smaller mortgage. I can only assume she wanted to put roots down in that particular house long-term.
My post about Lucy's third bedroom having similar owl wall stickers to nursery 2 had the images deleted as I forgot to include the links.
I will repost them here for anyone interested. Lucy's third bedroom, which had this owl wall art from the previous owners in 2016, and was still there when...
When I was there he did actually always call her Lucy Letby. I stopped noticing it after a while. I figured he just liked the alliteration. Maybe it was to avoid the casualness of calling her Lucy and the vulnerability implied (young maiden associations) by calling her Miss Letby?
@Dotta I...
Basically good character witnesses from the defense would then allow the prosecution to bring in bad character witnesses.
Even so, given the defense has so little, if I was Lucy I would still want Mummy and Daddy to take the stand. It would humanise her and at least make the jury care about...
Like with many other minor details in this case, it's only relevant if she's guilty.
The relevance is that she purchased a house in March 2016, in the middle of the alleged June 2015 - June 2016 charges, that is the very house that is directly behind the baby memorial garden in a very large...
