I live very close to where this happened. From everything I’ve seen and read she was talented, fun, engaging, successful in her new business, and GORGEOUS (didn’t hide it). She probably got a lot of attention. The husband being “injured” is not mentioned much at all in the news sources I’ve...
The “wow” factor for me is what if all the resources being donated and poured into this (likely) recovery mission (post the massive 3-week search by LE & SAR) went to other missing folks that have a better chance statistically of being rescued? Wouldn’t that be grand? Or to the families with...
While I think the most likely scenario is Sam got lost or injured and has since perished, I trust/hope all avenues are, or have been explored by LE. Because she summited the peak does NOT mean she wasn’t met with foul play on the way down or near trailhead/parking lot. Who would have been in a...
It sure is. I cannot imagine the pain and fear; denial is a survival mechanism for sure. As for me, I’d want to find my child alive (or deceased) QUICKLY before fall/winter. I couldn’t stand the thought of leaving her there to freeze, or worse. I’m so sorry for them.
And at the same time every human and dog up there is at risk of getting hurt doing the SAR. Seems the best use of resources would be to consider and search for all possibilities.
Bumping for Jamie. I live locally. Now that her remains have been recovered I am hopeful for movement on this case. But so far—-crickets!!! Her sweet dad posts regularly on FB that he misses her, not much posting on FB from her sister (who coordinated the memorial service). Is it so quiet...
Hi there, I am quite familiar with the WFMC , hello from Seattle! I’m not sure about the genius part tho, this is one of many (hard pressed to find any positive testimonials):
Harry Oakes Epic Fail
I had the same reaction and was intrigued, is he that awesome, or??? It didn’t take but a Google search to see all the controversy, complaints, and individual accounts of perceived incompetence and fraud. JMO.
I just finished my search on Mr. Oakes, I found more neg reviews, several re lost pet searches. Many professional SAR groups refuse to work with him. Caveat emptor as they say. JMO.
Seeing posts regarding Harry Oakes, private SAR expert made me dig into his FB page and website. He sounds knowledgeable for sure, if not a bit overly critical of others. Then I found this:
Checkered past follows search and rescue worker to Longview

This thread led me to learn more about SAR dogs, and the different ways they search. Very interesting topic, if you want to know more here’s a place start,

Today is Sky’s 9th birthday. When will Julia be charged for murder, manslaughter, whatever? He died in her care. what does LE need? Maddening. JMO
Happy birthday Sky, you are loved and remembered on Websleuths.
Missing Sky Metalwala
I haven’t seen any updates on this case in local news. The family held a service for her a couple of weekends ago. I would think by finding her body LE could move forward with the case. My guess is murder is related to the guy she was living with, JMO. They dug up the back yard of that house two...
Here’s the post about the 14 SAR dogs, and a screenshot in case you don’t have Facebook. As I understand it, some teams were helicoptered in due to terrain. This was no small operation. I believe this has been the costliest SAR in our county’s history, if the not the whole state of Washington...
