Oscar Pistorius - Discussion Thread #68 *Appeal Verdict*

Here we go, Professor Stephen Tuson of Wits University has nailed it, this is how OP will be vindicated and clear his good name. This is what lots of other legal experts have been talking about as well: He also said that on a lesser point, the legal test of what a reasonable man would do in...

Oscar Pistorius - Discussion Thread #68 *Appeal Verdict*

It's very impressive to see what Team Pistorius has achieved today. His lawyers have done a fantastic job of defending their client and obtaining bail on his behalf. Kudos to them. Once Oscar is in front of the CC, there's a real opportunity for change in South African law, perhaps making...

Oscar Pistorius is broke and needs 10,000 Rand by Friday to make bail. Time for him to start a Go Fund Me page.

Oscar Pistorius - Discussion Thread #67 *Appeal Verdict*

I can understand why LemonMousse was so desperate to have Advocate Kenny Oldwage represent Oscar and not Roux. Roux is a master. From the moment he walked into the courtroom, he was in control. He knew exactly what he wanted, he explained it clearly to the judge and he even had the judge...

Oscar Pistorius - Discussion Thread #67 *Appeal Verdict*

One thing I've noticed about this forum is many members are very hardened in their position and it becomes very difficult to have an open conversation to explore perhaps other issues. Such a shame that others that don't share exactly the same views get shouted down.

With a name like LemonMousse, it's ironic how many things you find distasteful. You're clearly not understanding this and this will be my last post on this subject to you. No one is saying that disabled people are more likely to be murderers and I challenge you to show me where that was said...

Oscar Pistorius - Discussion Thread #67 *Appeal Verdict*

Everyone is entitled to representation and if you are born into a family of privilege, you generally are able to get the best that money can afford. There are lots of stories going around about OP being broke, Arnold paying the bill, Roux working for free but no one from the Pistorius family...

Oscar Pistorius - Discussion Thread #67 *Appeal Verdict*

I don't think anyone would suggest that the disabled should be excused from any crime they commit. Sometimes however, there needs to be a way to address a handicap and I thought the reasonable disabled person test was an excellent idea that was put forward by someone in the SA legal community...

BIB, do you feel that Oldwadge is less competent than Roux and that's why it's ok for him to work for free on the OP trial? In the interests of justice, OP should be given the best defence possible and if Roux is willing to work for free, that should be no one's business but OP's and Roux's.

BIB I did accept Masipa's ruling of CH and felt that was appropriate. I also watched and read the SCA's judgement and can understand their rationale for murder. I also accept this and have no issue with this as OP received a fair trial and the decision was unanimous. But I don't feel this...

Oscar Pistorius - Discussion Thread #67 *Appeal Verdict*

My gut tells me this may still go to the constitutional court and OP may just have his verdict dropped down to CH due to his disability. When the SCA overturned Masipa's ruling and said this was murder, most on this board were pleased with the new verdict and said that 5 learned judges made the...

BIB, I think this is a really good example. I have absolutely nothing against Reeva, I never have. What's frustrating to read over and over is how some forum posters feel they personally know Reeva through this trial and believe she is angelic in nature. The reality is that none of us know...

Seemed like a non-issue to the PT who didn't make a big deal out of it but instead asked Roux about it who in turn gave it to the PT.

Oscar Pistorius - Discussion Thread #67 *Appeal Verdict*

If he's not under house arrest at this time, there is no legal reason that he can't follow up on his dream to teach young children in Mozambique. Why put something off to tomorrow when you don't know what tomorrow will bring. Perhaps today would be a good day to just make that trip to...

Oscar Pistorius - Discussion Thread #67 *Appeal Verdict*

BIB Seems a bit harsh. Mistakes happen in all facets of life, we're all human. To expect perfection from Masipa is NOT be a reasonably expectation. It's why there are appellant courts that can go through all the evidence again and make a new ruling. Masipa has been on the bench for 30...

That's good then because OP will need to decide before sentence is passed as to whether he will appeal this to the Constitutional Court.

Why wouldn't Nel or Roux attend today? Seems they have invested so much in this trial, not to be there on this day.

Oscar Pistorius - Discussion Thread #66~ the appeal~

BIB Let's not limit ourselves to just ISIS here but instead expand our view to include what the real threat is here....American gun owners who kill more people every year than ISIS ever has in the US. BTW, in case anyone hasn't seen the news yet another mass shooting is under way in California...
