I don't know everything there is to know about computers, and I have not listened to the testimony, but I am a bit confused on the bolded stuff there. 1. If he was really talking about cookies in the normal sense of the word, they are usually placed by a website or third party website to keep...

OK, Here is is. Arrows pointing to the pendant and chain. Not good quality, but best I could get with the tools at hand.

It does get pixelated, and my work with the contrast, gamma, brightness and saturation tools have not yielded a good image yet, but at that zoom level I can see the pendant and a portion of the chain. Convert to greyscale and it is a bit clearer, but it is hard to pull it out.

Still working on it. It is hard to see, but it is there. If someone has Photoshop or something with a contrast tool to lighten the shadows, it will pop out. I have it zoomed @ 214% from what I pulled from WRAL. It is there.

She IS wearing the necklace in the picture! It is in the shadow, but is to the right and close to the strapline on the cover. It is HARD to see. I had to pull the image into Irfanview and zoom it a lot. I don't have a tool to change the contrast, but I can clearly see the pendant.

I am unable to watch this now, but: VPN is not an automatic connection. I am not sure if he is talking about an actual VPN connection, or a secure connection. Either way, the Laptop should not have been connected to an Internet Accessible (or non-private) network while in their possession...

BBM I agree. I was on a jury (non-felony) and I was something of a hold-out on an issue. It concerned a spouse possibly forging a signature on an insurance policy, among other things. I thought that was pretty significant in one area we were asked to deliberate on, and we had the documents...

They also did not find NC there, does that mean she had never been there?

Depends on the program. I have used several, and I know there are secure telnet programs, although I have not used them. PuTty comes to mind. In fact, I have suspected that BC was running PuTty on the Blackjack and that is how the remote call was triggered. Before my back gets overloaded...

Piece of cake. You hook the computer up to the router by either a serial "roll-over" cable or start a telnet session to the router. Type in the configuration commands and disconnect it. You have a configured router, and no logs or traces left on the computer. So, you DO have to use the...

ISTR Reading the usual flow of testimony goes something like this, when accused of being bitten by the defendants dog. 1. I don't have a dog. 2. OK, you have proven that I do have a dog, but my dog does not bite. 3. OK, you have proven that my dog does bite, but it didn't bite you.

Not to worry, they had plenty to do hacking into the Cupper WiFi network and planting Google search results on his laptop, so they were not bored.

BBM Yes, I have heard of that, I am looking forward to receiving my money, but it is from an important businessman who was killed in an accident. I was contacted by an extremely helpful gentleman who is helping me get several million dollars. I am already planning a big party and will retire...

Sorry, went to the wayback machine and grabbed this post to comment on. I have been very interested in Computer Security since the mid-80's and have followed that area pretty closely. I am aware of some of the certifications that you can get with regard to security, and some of the training...

I saw something about printer dots a few years ago, but did not follow-up with it. It would be pretty easy to get paranoid, especially with this Google Maps stuff and the hand cursor. Software is so complicated these days there is pretty much no way to know what it is all doing, saving and...

Not at all. My point was that when, and only when, it is on the VPN, it is for all intents and purposes a part of the Cisco network. It is using the home network as a pathway, but it is a secure tunnel. So, let's put it like this. You have a wide open WiFi network in your home. No...

Yep, Company requirement. It is a bummer to a degree. Here I got this all super cool all-in-one Fax, Copier, Printer with auto-duplexing and 2 types of network connection, but I have to connect via USB to the thing. All the other systems in the house can print to it over the network, but I can't.

The way you say that is incorrect and misleading. The VPN Client, which I use daily, does create a secure tunnel to the Cisco Network, AND prevents local network traffic from reaching your computer. It takes over the network connection as part of securing the tunnel, and traffic destined for the...

Slight correction. The 10. network is a private class A IP address. It is not used for an Internet facing network, but it is used for internal networks. Most home systems would not use the 10. address space because it allows a very large number of connected systems and this many addresses are...
