I agree, but I see it time and time again that people lull themselves into a false sense of security.
“Oh the babies are asleep and I desperately need bread and milk for breakfast, do I wake them up and drag them all to the shop in the pouring rain or do I just nip out. I’ll only be 10...
I don’t think that poverty in and of itself is a marker for child abuse. The “poverty line” in the UK is set at “less than 60% of the median household income” so for 2020 a couple with 2 children living in London would be below the poverty line if they had less than £346 a week coming in, and a...
You can’t just decide to give your children away for someone else to adopt. It’s not like a dog rescue. If you approach SS saying you can’t cope (or you fancy going shopping or out on the beer) they aren’t just going to magically relieve you of all your responsibilities. SS philosophy is to keep...
All great questions @WiseOwl!
The Hereford Times just keeps re-writing the same article with no new information (no surprise there ) and WM police don’t seem exactly forthcoming either. Has there even been a press conference?
This. He’s a serial killer and obviously had no respect for human life whatsoever. That he “only” killed members of his own household is more by luck than judgement IMO.
Has there been any mention of where Janet was between the visit to Dunelm at 10.30am and the “sighting” at Beechwood Court at either 2.30pm or 3.00pm?
Even allowing for traffic, it’s a maximum 15 minute drive from one to the other.
“Hereford's Aylestone Hill/Venns Lane where she is last thought to have been seen” from the article above.
They don’t seem to have any real idea where or if Janet was actually seen at all after the Dunelm visit in the morning.
These roads are massively busy all the time. Traffic in Hereford is beyond horrendous - they’ve been arguing about a bypass for at least 20 years.
Could she have been running? If she’s a serious runner then maybe she had planned a route. I wonder if she had Strava?
She wouldn’t have been...
They haven’t said what form the “sighting” took either have they? Was it by a person or CCTV/dashcam?
The area they are asking for information on is quite a lot to cover on foot, given that her car was parked in Venns Lane (presumably at Beechwood Court) and it quite a long period of time too.
I very much doubt it. I imagine it wouldn’t be in the “public interest” to pursue further charges against her.
I’m still baffled why they weren’t charged with cruelty.
Venns Lane, Aylestone Hill and Overbury Road form a triangle around the Nuffield Hospital, with Aylestone Hill then turning into Commercial Road at the bottom of the triangle. I’m wondering if the hospital could be significant as that’s all there really is of note in that very specific part of town.
I think ultimately none of us want to see child murderers like ET or SB (and many, many others) walk away with anything less than life-meaning-life. Normal, decent people just cannot comprehend what they did and we need the sentencing to reflect the gravity of the offence.
Maybe it’s the...
IMO she’s crying for herself and the fact that she’s got to go to prison. I don’t think she (or her barrister) believed she would actually end up serving time. I think she genuinely expected to just walk away from this without a backward glance.
I’ve been wondering about this too. Even the...
This has been my main issue all along. Plenty of far stupider people than FS manage to look after their children, protect them from harm, and understand that letting someone beat their baby is downright wrong!
How anyone can look at the state of Star’s bruised face after she had been with SB...
