I think this is incorrectly conflating different criminals and their motives. Bernardo and Russell Williams did have their motives (sexual, power, etc.), but what is the motive for a wealthy individual to get involved in a risky chop shop venture? Sure, it could be greed, but it seems the...
Thanks for asking, I appreciate it. I feel a little relieved that it's a bit of a grey area, as some seemed to think it was obvious!
The classic prisoner dilemma!
At first I thought that a friend might be able to unfriend and then return without DM's permission (since DM already accepted the friend request - maybe someone can tell me if this is how FB works? I don't know if you'd need to accept a second time), but now I see that his permissions on the...

If the drive is wiped with software designed for wiping, the data is gone. The bits are overwritten numerous times so that the data that was once held on the drive is simply no longer there. There are no 'tools available to LE' to overcome this physical change in the drive.
Now formatting and...
I agree. It also doesn't explain why, if they were looking for a "thrill kill", that they test drove the same vehicle previous to TB's. That just leaves an unnecessary trail if it's just a random thrill kill they are after.
