An idiotically dumb thing to do... the difference here is that at least we can be sure that Rudi really loved his daughter - grief would be truly genuine.
Even given the level of exaggeration one expects from the tabloids, there is clearly a lot of truth in this, and anyone who's been in an abusive relationship will recognise the behaviour instantly.
Funny how some people can be so quick to assume a woman is lying, but far slower to acknowledge...
I am sure that if it had been in any way admissible it would have been used, but the minute Nel tried to get it out there, Roux would have jumped up and objected. I think in my limited understanding it falls under character evidence.
Nel really doesn't look happy, and has not from the time court was first in session today. He must already have known... I want to know what he's drawing on his notepad!
Oh, well, lucky old Oscar, and at least we now know we can pump bullets into people with impunity here in South Africa now, without worrying too much about the long term consequences!
There was an article published this morning on the front page of the Sunday Times, saying Pistorius "lost it" with a group of Sunday Times journos who recently tried to interview him. He had just arrived back at his uncle's house in a brand new Subaru. Interestingly, the article also explains...
I was thinking about this last night, and one of the thoughts which occurred to me was this:
Roux is an excellent and well respected defense advocate, no doubt about it. But how many times in his career has he had to defend a person accused of murder? With his prices, in the echelons that he...
Ugh! How tastelessly revolting, but at least we get a sense of why some of the Pistorius family behaviour is as it is, with a patriarch like that at its head.
After all, the timing of a phone call is irrelevant compared to the intent shown when you fire four Black Talons into a small cubicle knowing a human being is inside there, as Nel emphasized...
Surely Masipa could have just required it on the record that the phone records were not common cause? Just to clarify? (Before handing down her murder verdict!)
Thanks so much for summarising! Am unable to listen to Roux. He is so smarmy and revolting, and personally I think that defending somebody with smoke, mirrors and insults, who has proven himself to be a liar under oath, shows a vast lack of integrity. I know lawyers do it all the time but...
It must annoy Gerrie Nel having to even hypothetically discuss this ridiculous "three sound startle" scenario when OP has been caught out in so many lies on the stand with his constantly changing, tailored-to-fit-the-facts testimony - not to mention his inability to admit even to the obvious...
No, it doesn't!
I have known plenty of gun happy paranoid people who grab their gun at the first sign of any trouble. And they are not disabled. They are just a-holes. Does it occur to you that OP might possibly fit into this category?
Another thing about that report... surely the primary function of it (which they were testing for) was whether or not he had an anxiety disorder which might have caused him to act in the way he did at the time of the killing?
So this was tested and found not true. Surely anything else that is...
