    TX - Jonathan Foster, 12, Houston, 24 Dec 2010 - Mona Nelson charged with Murder - #9

Like everyone here, this case has disturbed me greatly. A couple of random thoughts: 1. One minor thing that sucks is that she'll be housed with females and, unfortunately, I don't think any of them will be bigger or stronger than she is so she won't suffer the jailhouse retribution she...

His wife might not want him around right now. Just my 2 cents ... I can imagine if my son was slapped by my husband and I cared enough to leave him over it and my moving in with someone, etc., resulted in THIS, I might be *very* resentful for a few reasons, even if it isn't logical or maybe...

The author said it was straight from the PIO, Kese Smith. No unnamed sources. Houston Police PIO Smith provided information to Examiner.com Wednesday to clear up some misconceptions and to provide an update in the case (all updates and responses provided below are from PIO Smith):

I thought in that examiner's article linked here that HPD said initially he said 1:45 but it turns out it was just before all that happened? BBM

If MN has a distinctive raspy voice, didn't it ring a bell when she showed up again on Friday? And weren't there cops around to hear it, too? Since she is SE's friend, didn't she think of her as having the raspy voice? Talk about a reason to want to run a criminal history report on your...

Who knows why MN went to SE's duplex? I wonder if that was unusual or if she thought nobody would be home. He could've just let her in or she could've easily bullied her way in if he just opened the door a crack. (And that's why I tell my kids to NEVER open the door but they don't always do as...

RE: Speculation he might've been a runaway....I don't think that is completely from left field when you consider he was very new to the mother and stepfather's house AND that was apparently volatile enough for them to separate shortly after JF's arrival. I'm local and I honestly don't know...

A lie by omission is still a lie and still an inconsistency for HPD to deal with.

I read somewhere today that she said she did blame herself for leaving him alone. Most sixth graders (11/12) that I know are left alone or in charge of younger siblings for small stretches of time. (Not all day but certainly for an hour or two.)

HPD has said the mother basically intentionally misrepresented where he was because she was embarrassed he was home alone. (And I don't think she should've been. Plenty of 12 year olds stay home alone for small stretches of time.)

An HPD person named Harris has said in articles linked here that they did NOT wait until 9:30 to report him as missing. HPD was at the scene by 3:30 and stayed until about 4:15. They went down to a station on Mykawa to report him as missing and it was entered into the database at 9:30. The...

Yes. If "Mona" has a distinctive raspy voice, wouldn't that draw attention from people who know JF and Mona (like the babysitter and SF) since that was one of things mentioned in the Amber Alert? Of course, they could've been looking for "Mona" all along and just now found her.

I was watching the local newscasts at 5. One of them showed a "garage apt." They were filming down a driveway. To the right was the house and then to the left was what looked to be old apartments right next to the driveway. But then I've seen a duplex, too. Again, the reporting on this...

I have read quotes from LE saying they were contacted in about an hour. I think he wasn't "officially" listed as missing until 9:30, though. The media's reporting of this is awful. As bad as I've ever seen. I thought the police cleared that up but...you're right....they keep throwing that out...

Wondering if she could be the "roommate?" I know she was arrested at her house but I've known of people who bounce around from a parent's house to living with "friends," etc. Just thinking about the media erasing references to a "roommate" from stories. There must be a reason for that. (Then...

But it would've been much easier on everyone to send JF back to his grandmother or his aunt & uncle if, in fact, they thought JF was the cause of their problems. (Which I'm sure he wasn't. Apparently AD has been married at least 3 times? She does not have a history of stable relationships.)

How would a "close family friend" not know Angela was JF's mother (according to police reports of the phone call)? How would anyone other than some druggie acquaintance of the stepfather's not know that? I'd think any "friend" would know the mom, stepdad, and child.

Hi, I'm new here. I'm also in Houston. I just have to add to the chorus here that the reporting on this case has been abysmal. First there was a babysitter and now the mother made that up yet you still hear of a "babysitter" being interviewed. One thought -- I wonder if the female "suspect"...
