The aftermath of the verdict *MERGED*

<modsnip> Didn’t GBC work for Flight Centre twice? The first time was in the 1990s - he met Allison there in 1995 according to his court testimony http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?247680-The-Crown-v-Gerard-Baden-Clay-26th-June-Trial-Day-11-Week-3/page33. They were married in...

The aftermath of the verdict *MERGED*

BBM (hollow laugh) That will make a change from the undignified prattle that we've had from this family until now. Too little, too late ... And then they appeal. MOO

    The Verdict Waiting Room #2

On 7 July, when talking about the three Cs each lending him $90,000, GBC said "these were long standing friends I was borrowing from" - and that's when our smoochable QC made his "subtlety" remark.

GBC Trial General Discussion Thread #4

I’m fairly sure the defence team would have preferred that GBC not take the stand, but his choosing to speak in court may have worked in his favour. Here’s my take on the situation: • GBC hopes that he can charm the jury into thinking that he’s a saint who has supported...

    The Crown v Gerard Baden-Clay, 2nd July - Trial Day 14, Week 3

Diddums. Have a read of Stephen Fry's critique of this meaningless (and offensive) phrase: http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/706825-it-s-now-very-common-to-hear-people-say-i-m-rather MMO

    The Crown v Gerard Baden-Clay, 2nd July - Trial Day 14, Week 3

Kate Kyriacou @KateKyriacou · 3s Fuller says the first photos police took were just of his face. He asks why Gerard didn't tell police about scratches on chest. #badenclay BBM. Does that mean the face scratches were not self-inflicted? MOO

    The Crown v Gerard Baden-Clay, 30th June - Trial Day 12, Week 3

So apparently Nigelaine were more favourably disposed to TM than to Allison, and facilitated contact between GBC and TM after his phone was taken by the police. GBC had NBC leave the room when police asked about the state of the marriage - maybe this was not because NBC didn't know about the...

    The Crown v Gerard Baden-Clay, 30th June - Trial Day 12, Week 3

BBM Since you ask, Troops, I'd say every time he opened his mouth some sort of untruth came out. Outright denial, exaggeration, evasion, airbrushing ... everything he said seemed to have a spin on it. A confused audience might give him the benefit of the doubt - so I hope Prosecution ask some...

GBC Trial General Discussion Thread #3

On Thursday, it took GBC 1 hour 17 minutes to tell us about 1995 to the early 2000s. If he wants to spin it out longer he’ll maybe go back to his childhood, youth and adulthood before he met Allison. Then he might get around to telling us about the last ten years or so before April 2012 and –...

    The Crown v Gerard Baden-Clay, 25th June - Trial Day 10, Week 3

These posts pretty much summarise the way I'm thinking at the minute ... The prosecution case is circumstantial and it would be so ironic if GBC insisted on appearing in his own defence, only to drop himself right in the mire - and very publicly. Though I haven't posted in yonks I'm...

GUILTY Australia - Morgan Huxley, 31, stabbed to death, Neutral Bay, NSW, 8 Sept 2013 #1

MSM (and WS) frequently mention that 14 women were connected to or involved with Morgan in the time leading up to his murder, but I don’t think police statements were very precise about the nature of the involvements. Do we know how close the relationships were, and how long the “time leading...

GUILTY Australia - Morgan Huxley, 31, stabbed to death, Neutral Bay, NSW, 8 Sept 2013 #1

Hi Fruity. A NSW case that springs to mind (with the help of a little Googling) is Paul Wilkinson who was convicted for the murder of Kylie Labouchardiere. Her body has not been found and he maintains that he is innocent.

    Allison Baden-Clay - GENERAL DISCUSSION THREAD #46

Hi Humdinger, you could try a search on the Australasian Legal Information Institute's website (www.austlii.edu.au). This database has details of many court cases and if you're lucky the one you're interested in might be there.

    Allison Baden-Clay - GENERAL DISCUSSION THREAD #41

I agree, Ollijack. Not the brightest bunch, but as Thinking said in an earlier thread, GBC's attitude has from early on "given the police the following unspoken message: I know that you know I did it, you just have to prove it - and good luck with that. The message has been similar from NBC."...

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I meant virtual breadcrumbs like Facebook photos, posts etc that are in the public domain. (Then there's other stuff like phone records and cctv footage that the police might have access to.)
