Review of the parole system in NSW
The NSW Law Reform Commission has released a Scoping Paper to obtain views on the issues in the NSW parole system that require reform...
If it goes to trial I can see barristers lining up to make a name for themselves by being the ones to set a precedent on the issue of prejudice in the digital / social media age unfortunately. Legal aid lawyer or not.
So if the pizza shop CCTV faced Sydney rd and that is past Hope st - any theories to connect the dots with the handbag in Hope Lane (if it was indeed placed back where the local found it) ?
Just a thought - if they are restricting certain info in Victoria for fear of prejudicing the trial any widespread public movement calling to reform sentencing in vic might be better launched when everything is done and dusted. Lobbying in other states though would be ok?
Talkback radio is also a very powerful lobby tool. I haven't been listening so I don't know what they're saying already - but I know pollies listen and pay attention to the big issues they pick up and run with on some of the big talkback shows. Any one been listening past couple of days?
I wonder what the stats are on rehabilitated offenders who have committed these sorts of felonies and display recidivism?
Maybe rehabilitation is just barking up the wrong tree.
Found this straight shooting American article...
I don't see any rings visible on this guy - there were quite a few rings on the Pics I've seen of the Suspect. Of course he may not wear rings when bike riding.
I now no longer care a whit about about privacy in that there should be more CCTV and police should be allowed to run image matching searches of indentikits through Facebook and all pics uploaded to Facebook.
