So....why didn't JB and team have the tests on the carpet done in a forensic lab?? Did they??

A cross section of how Baez's cross is being received:

A WESH tweet says "No, the dogs are not here..."
"but the dog handlers are"...

Has anyone seen kc move recently or was she replaced with a mannequin?

Yes, there is, and the word "biochemist" was, in fact, added today at 17:55 (whatever time zone they use). Someone has, since, removed it.

I'd love nothing more than for the state to have a computer forensics specialist go in and find out just who added and removed this info. I'd love it even more if they could pinpoint it to someone with the DT! (And expose it as such!)

Vaas is so frustrated...but very in control and an excellent witness. No one should be subjected to Baez' lack of intelligence. I couldn't believe he asked about wiki...does he not know that anyone can contribute to wiki and anyone can set up a facebook account in another persons name....how did this man ever make it through law school!

what I find interesting during all this, as I watch day after day is Casey seems to have mentally disappeared from the proceedings.

She has, they are only talking now about her daughter's rotting smell, and the stages her little body went through after she killed her and threw her in the woods.

When it turns back to Casey and how good of a mother she was, she will perk up..I'd be willing to bet my entire savings on it :)

I think you are totally right. I have been thinking about this and I wonder if she is actually hoping for a death sentence because 1) Woman are not executed often, and death sentences for men under normal circumstances already take 10 years and that's like, a lifetime to people who live 10 minutes at a time and are that young. 2) she will get more appeals 3) she will keep the attention 4) with more appeals, she thinks she has a greater chance of getting out on a technicality. And finally 5) She doesn't at all believe that it will ever really happen. I bet she is baffled that they are even there at all.

Speaking from the position of someone who has done volunteer work with the IP, after your life is saved, you are left behind and forgotten (that sounds cold, and it actually isn't that cold, but real work that costs money gets cut drastically). The media doesn't have anything else to say about you and the organizations that help the innocent and the defense attorneys that are willing to do the pro bono stuff need to move on to save the next person they believe to be innocent whose life is actually at direct risk. Once their sentence is commuted to life, at least here in VA, you better get comfortable and settle in, because unless you have some really big fans, there are more pressing matters on the row.

I was thinking Casey was checked out because this is just too technical for her to follow.. probably doesn't realize the significance of the testimony? Also I really think ICA thinks she will get acquitted and walk away free and clear... thats what JB promised her isnt it?

Dr. Vass by far is not going to get rich off this and who cares which case he gets his ground breaking techniques out there on if it will help solve crimes.

Quoting my own post because Vinnie just agreed with me on InSession :rocker:

Rough day out. Just got here!!! :maddening:

I see the DT is at it! :banghead:

Baez could really destroy this guy on the quality control if he knew what he was doing. Sounds like this guy runs a typical research lab, not accredited under ISO standards and very lax in their quality control procedures. Personally I would take his results with a big grain of salt.

I think he implied that there was QC implemented, it just wasn't documented in the report.

Maybe you have discovered what ICA has been doing on the computer.

I know, it really is kinda freaky. I don't know what to make of this or if it is not relevant...it does seem quite a coinky-dink to me, though.

During the lunch break LKB (fill in your own adjective) said the prosecution should just accept that this death was an accident. This is what JB (use your own colorful name) expected. His opening statement would render the state's case null and we would all live happily ever after--no harm, no foul, no LWOP or DP.

Any chance one of these sidebars is merely a chance for JP to quiz the two sides on the pages he asked them to read during lunch?

I enjoy learning about forensic science and research, though not much time or opportunity to do so. Today is by far the most enjoyable learning experience I've had on the subject, thanks to Dr. Vass, Mr. Ashton (and Jose Baez, seriously, he is allowing Dr. Vass to further clarify what he's already said, imo!).

I think the good doctor is highly qualified and I am excited about the science's future application to aid the justice system...

Typically, the prosecuting attorney would object heavily to this sort of tone. I suspect that, in this case, they are leaving Baez alone because he is so effectively winning the prosecution's case for them.

I was thinking the same thing! Essentially, they are letting jb hang himself (or his client, rather) with his own rope!

Also, just wanted to say that I'm getting so angry at jb for being so rude, it is really uncalled for, but Dr. Vass is certainly holding his own! :)

Typical research labs have enormous amounts of quality control. Sometimes entire buildings built to keep from contaminating. Independent blind controls sent to other labs for frequent checks.

Again: research labs have enormous amounts of quality control.

I absolutely LOVE how openly annoyed Dr. Vass is during this sidebar!
