It is probably depression, anxiety, although from what we see of her she is hardly incapacitated by it. Work would be the best thing she could do to help herself. How does it get passed? Who knows. I worked with a woman whose husband never did a lick of work, she told me he was on SSI disability because he had an uncontrollable temper - I kept waiting for her to give me some diagnosis or other, but she said no, not mental illness, just behavior that employers would not tolerate so that was how he qualified....... go figure

No way! I am filing for my disability tomorrow....

If depression, anxiety, or even an uncontrollable temper is all that is needed, I am sure that I can muster up enough acting skills to pull off one of these, if not all three.

Personally, CA's depression and anxiety must manifest itself as urges to go on talk shows, cuss out the media, get tats, and take cruises. I can only remember one time when she appeared before media and look dispondent(sp)(must have been some good drugs that day). She is no more depressed than any other grandmother who lost a grandchild to violence and yet somehow others manage to carry on while she gets to draw disability.

That just kind of makes my blood boil!

Not to mention the facial cosmetic surgery for CA.

Yep...that is a pretty sure bet too. I wonder how the government and/or insurance company paying her disability would feel about paying out for someone who really doesn't seem to have a danged thing wrong with them.

I wish you the best, and encourage all of us to hang on to live with an iron grip during the tough times. They come for us all, but thank the Lord......don't last forever. moo
I completely second this and tip my hat (if I had one that is) to ThommyMac-you are an example and an inspiration and if the Anthonys had half the sense YOU do they would not be in this mess...

They did not do all of that with disability AND eat AND pay the utilities and the taxes and keep gas in the car and tissue in the bathroom...NO WAY!

They got $20,000 in one pop. (That is more than me hubby earns for the YEAR!) Donations POURED in for many months. Many many appearances on this and that show PAID...and yet, they did not pay the house payment? Something very fishy about this...

Snipped from article.

Headline: Anthony Family May Lose Caylee’s Home
Seems to me someone wants sympathy. However when KC decided to end Caylee's life a home no longer mattered.
The Anthonys attorney attributed the couple’s latest financial problems to the notoriety of the case and the emotional toll caused by their granddaughter’s slaying.
So this is why they didn't make the payments???
George Anthony, on the other hand, said he -- like many others in this economy -- is having difficulty finding work. But the Anthonys attorney said George Anthony has an added difficulty because he is instantly recognized and rejected by most employers either because of who he is or because companies fear he may bring unwanted media attention.
Hummmm!
The Anthonys said they plan to do all they can to save their home, if only to preserve the place where Caylee spent her life.
But everything else they have done has been a slap in the face to Caylee in my opinion.

Sorry for my rant. But GOSH.

George is a pretty good car detailer perhaps he could try and get a job at a local car dealership. Hey a job is a job...I'm just saying. IMO

I can't imagine the suffering of the Anthony family. To have to leave behind the house they shared with Caylee will/would obviously be terrible for them. My thoughts are with them, (and with all people losing their homes in these times of course).

Maybe they should have thought about that before they refinanced their house to pay off KC's debt on those credit cards. After the first bill came in I would have cut up those credit cards, but Cindy just let KC run bills up month after month. I don't feel sorry for these people they had ample funds over the last 18 months to pay their bills. If that house was that important to them the morgage payment would have been the first bill I would pay. JMO

when you have a married couple it doesn't matter if one or both buy, the general rule is one to buy, two to sell, regardless whether both names are on the title.
I don't know if Florida is no fault divorce state, but in most states, assets are split 50/50, and if there is a vast difference in earning potential of one spouse over another, then maybe alimony at least temporarily is given. Long term alimony can be given depending on age of spouses, and lenght of marriage. As far as splitting assets, one may get the house, the other IRA's or savings or whatever so doesn't just mean split the house equity as what matters is an equitable split. Cindy has/had more to lose if she has pension money as that is probably far greater than anything George would have in pension. House assets really wouldn't have existed even in 2006 during the divorce talks as this is when they took out the second mortgage, probably to cover their debts.

Florida is a no fault state with regard to divorce.

FWIW - Someone on another site states that they have already moved out and are renting in the same neighborhood, on Flatwood Lane, a house owned by a Minister. That would make no financial sense if they were really broke, so something else is going on if the information is true.. Your guess is as good as mine.

Maybe they are charging people to tour their house. Nothing would surprsie me when it comes to these people. JMO

For the past few hours, I have been going back through Cindy, George and Lee's SA depositions to see if I could find any information on anything that would be of use in this thread... so, here it is.

Cindy's deposition (July 28th and July 29th, 2009)

Question: All right. I recall last year (2008) at the bond hearing you had a morgage on your house?

Cindy: Yes. We still do.

Question: And you testified that you were behind in some of your bills.

Cindy: Yes. Not my morgage payment but some of our bills, a few credit cards.

Question: Are you being paid by your employer?

Cindy: I was being paid my normal salary up until sometime Sept/Oct (she says she had four weeks of vacation).

LATER

Cindy: They put me on short term disability. My short term disability ran out in January (2009) and I've been on long term disability. I've been approved for two years on long term disability. (which means she has about 10 months left on collecting long term disability).

Question: All right. Is that the money that you use to pay your bills?

Cindy: Yes, and then Lee moved back home in the end of December.

Question: Did you get money for selling any pictures of Caylee?

Cindy: I did not receive any money until last Friday (July 24th, 2009), I received a check for the first time.

Question: From who?

Cindy: From 48 hours. CBS.

Question: For what?

Cindy: For 10,000 dollars.

Question: Which?

Cindy: I'm not getting that much. $3,000 goes to Brad (thought he was working pro bono?) and then I have to pay taxes on it. So roughly 5,000 dollars for some pictures and video.

LATER

Question: Do you have a contract to receive more money in the future?

Cindy: Yeah, I believe there's another 10,000 dollars at some point.
(cont)
I believe that contract is also through CBS and it's just the second portion of the 20,000 dollar's that was negotiated, that Brad negotiated with them. (I'm assuming they got the second half once the episode aired in I believe October 2009?)

Lee's deposition took place on July 30th, 2009. The only information that deals with this subject is that he says he moved back into that house in January. Also, as of July 30th, 2009 (the date of the deposition) he confirms that he was still living at the Anthony home.

George's deposition was August 5th, 2009. He added absolutely nothing to this subject that can be confirmed... he only said "there could be" money coming in for books or movies but no contract has been signed.

Oct/Sept 2008 - Cindy was still being paid her regular salary
Sept-Jan 2008- Cindy was on short term disability.
Dec/Jan - (both say something different) Lee moves in to help with finances
Jan 2009 - Cindy is approved for two years of long term disability
June 2009 - last morgage payment
July 24th, 2009 - They receive a 10,000 check
July 30th, 2009 - Lee still lives with the Anthony's
Oct 2009 - CBS special is aired - Anthony's go on cruise (which matches with them getting the second 10,000 dollar check).

Hmmm...

Edit to add: That first check, even if they only got $5,000 (which I don't believe) from it, would have paid for six months of their morgage payment with $290.00 left over.

Something that stands out to me is that disability payments are not approved in advance- they are subject to ongoing review as to medical necessity at regular intervals- they don't approve you upfront for 2 years, as she stated. Just another mis truth...

Could be CA's company approved the whole two years in advance, just to keep her from coming back....if she worked for me, I'd do anything I could just to keep her from returning....just sayin'.:crazy::crazy:

You bring up an excellent point.
IIRC in my "sleuthing" I found that Gentiva also participates in a number of self insurance programs. While gov't disability might not apply in this case....if Gentiva ruled her to qualify based upon PTSD.....they could theoretically approve her for disability to be paid through their own self insured disability policy. I will look up my references again.....but the"traumatic event" of having a child accused of murder and the subsequent trial and related events that would be associated with it may have qualified her under their self insured program. Some employees can opt in to a company sponsored disability plan which has entirely different qualification requirements then the federal government programs.

I also agree that paying her under a self insured disability plan would remove the day to day concern that the general public may interfere with their normal operations. It may be a case of selecting the lesser of the evils, as well as lessening their liability exposure relating to actions she may take while on company time.

has anyone else heard or read about the A's renting a house close to the Hopespring but in another subdivision, and not even living in their home?

I don't know where else to ask, except this thread.

Does anyone live in the area and have any knowledge of this, one way or another? Would this, if true, have any connection to them "not having been aware" of the bank intention? Or their money was going to rent instead of mortgage payments. Rent is more expensive than mortgage in many cases.

I've seen other comments elsewhere suggesting they live in a different house now, renting from a minister, who no longer lives in the area. It was suggested the A's vehicles were visible at that house, and George had been seen mowing the lawn. How long has it been since the A's have been seen at the Hopespring house? is anyone in this forum aware of the information?

I haven't been able to read all the threads in the forum to see if this has been addressed elsewhere.

Please move if it's in an inappropriate thread.

I've seen those comments too, but from what we are seeing the informant is not a reliable source..:innocent:

I have read this as well, although I don't recall if I read it on another thread in this forum, or elsewhere on the internet, but don't recall reading anything that substantiated the claim.

I very much doubt they underwrite their own insurance. If her disability plan was purchased as most are from an Insurance company there is NO chance they would approve anyone ahead of time.Claims are approved based on medical necessity with regular reviews. 2 years is usually the limit of coverage, after which time the claimant can apply ( and usually has if there is no prospect of improvement) for SS disability. What has happened as I see it is that CA is aware of how long coverage is available on her policy, knows it is 2 years and has decided that she will use it to the limit. Why else would she say she has been approved for 2 years? Not happening...

Thanks for noticing that! I too was surprised at her statement. I also question the need for disability. Many others who have gone through traumatic events continue to work. Just MOO.

I don't know the terms of the Gentiva plans but here is a link that outlines their employee benefits. Short AND long term disability are listed.
