I am on the fence as to whether she was a victim. I have a friend who was in a similar situation and because of her story it makes me question whether she was in true danger from someone there. My close friend told me on her particular night she was with a john and was on: heroin and cocaine She may have had lingering drugs she'd taken within the last week not sure on that. The john was paying for her to stay at a hotel room. He went with her to purchase drugs and paid for them. In the middle of all this she literally leaves from the motel running down the road screaming and crying. She called her father screaming "they're recording me" & "they are trying to hurt me". She genuinely believed she was being drugged, video recorded and was fearing for her life.
Later she told me it was lack of sleep, paranoia and drugs that caused it. She doesn't remember much about it. My problem with her explanation is, she had never acted that way before in all her drug hazed addicted years, what happened in that hotel room? I can tell you this...she was an addict for 5 years and she got clean after that night and hasn't relapsed since.
I hope FBI involvement will turn up something substantial. Good thing they do in FACT consider the 911 call evidence. I know that has come into question, "if SG died accidentally why is it evidence and evidence of what?" Maybe the public not having access to it was a positive thing. Now while the FBI investigates they'll be able to question the people or thoughts she may have referenced during the 911 call. Because those persons aren't privy to the content of her 911 call, they would not have had time to come up with a fancy lie. I am not sure if I articulated this line of thought correctly..it is my 1st or 2nd post lol

So if I'm not mistaken Shannan's Death was ruled accidental, so this means that any investigation into her death has officially been closed? If so, why was Dr. Hackett so easily cleared as a suspect? He Lied to the SCPD as phone records proved he did in fact call the Gilbert Family and specifically mentioned Shannon.
He also shouldn't have any prior knowledge of Shannan's existence aside from the circumstances of what may have taken place that night, unless of course he had been a client previously, which would be very coincidental for Shannan to flee Joseph Brewers home only to run into a client who had been already stalking her far from her normal areas of operation. So we can safely assume the probable way she crossed paths with Dr. Hackett was somehow after she had fled the last home she'd approached for help, maybe she approached his home for help as well, or maybe he saw her while driving down the road in the early morning hours, Is it a coincidence while running from one potential killer or group of killers that she ran into another killer, or were several men acting together, however it happened Dr. Peter Hackett called the Gilbert family from Shannan's phone during the time of her disappearance, the only conclusion is he HAS to be involved somehow at least with Shannan's Death, and is it also circumstance that Dr. Hackett calling the victims family fit the profile of the "suspect" that is likely LISK, I don't think so. Why was there no mention of Dr. Hackett on this show or at least a mention of Shannan Gilberts sister receiving a call as well.

This has always been a ding-ding-ding moment in this case for me.

Is Shannon's phone now in custody? If it was found along with her clothes, strewn in the marsh?

Is lisk a solo act or a group of men who order up a sex worker to kill and each gets a turn disposing of the body and that is why they don't appear to be connected?

Yes, I feel he (the master of ceremonies) is wealthy and travels extensively both domestic and internationally.

the Long Island case seems very tainted and has different implications on possible suspects. One interesting scenario brought to the fbi was that James b**k, ex high ranking cop in Suffolk and others engaged in sexual parties where they alledgedly could of possibly killed escorts. In which it is alledge that the cop slowed down investigations and the LI killings possibly had some powerful people possibly connected to these ritual parties?
Yes, not sure who the players are but this is my hunch.

as I watch The Killing Season... I keep wondering how many more bodies are actually out there, that haven't been found.
The fbi should hire the necrosearch pig people and they will find more and all they need to do is find one that has evidence.

Not sure if this is the correct thread to post this:

When I connect JANE DOE Nr.3 ( mother of toddler, found just off the service road on Jones Beach) in a straight line to where LAQUETTA GUNTHER was found (alley across from 650 between 703/705 North Beach St, Daytona FL) or Daytona Beach in general or Atlantic City in general, look at the locations:

  • Jones Beach NY, at least 10 on JB and GB/ Statepark
  • Atlantic City NJ, AC-4
  • Norfolk/Virginia Beach VI, any unsolved murders?
  • Wilmington NC, any unsolved murders?
  • Daytona Beach FL, DB-4
  • Orlando FL, any unsolved murders?
  • I-4 all the way to Lakeland/ Bartow FL, plenty unsolved murders

If LISK was to be responsible for all 10 murders ("lineup")from JB to N of GB, then I find it highly interesting, that LI/GB, AC, DB and most of the I4-stretch lies on one straight line!!

I watched and rewatched one and two and had questioned specifically with the calls to the relatives. Are you going to end up like a *advertiser censored* like your sister? It made me think he'd been watching the victim before the kidnapping.

While serial killers sometimes partner with others the wealthy angle to me doesn't fit because they could order an escort from one place and take to another. Back page has women who will come to you who aren't high-end material from a call in service. It seems to me to more for in with the old troll for a prostitute only back page makes it even simpler. Wealthy people have others procure people for them not line them up so many feet apart IMO. He took body parts from old site to new site meaning he takes pride in having them be in his garden so to speak. It just doesn't seem to fit with being wealthy.

Does anyone think the serial killer could be killing men too? Just curious since there were eight male skeletal remains found in Fort Myers Fl not long ago.

This goes along with the call to the sister. It's hard to believe she's telling someone torturing her about her sister. He either watched before hand or she knew him enough to speak of the sister

Think Hurricane Sandy could've seriously impacted the investigation?

Looking at some of the videos i.e.: https://youtu.be/P30BdV6zcFU
I can't help but wonder if additional evidence or remains in the area were swept out to sea. Curious if anyone more familiar with the timelines can shed some light

I agree . There are special dogs that train for remains over certain lengths of time. Also curious if any grid searching was done of the areas by the dogs then ? If so is there a map of that ?

Just watched both episodes back to back and just wanted to ask if anyone thinks the killer could be a road department worker? Or the several theories that the killer is a cop? Could it be that the killer is a State Trooper that has patrolled that area in the past? Maybe retired trooper? Reason for this is the comments that were made about the killer having to know the road. Great show, and good luck! Thanks!
I was thinking someone with a badge could easily con the girls into going to a second location that they would normally not agree to and would also make them much more submissive to the perps requests...

If it is one killer, maybe the different ways he disposed of some of the bodies, is indicative of how he perceives those particular victims and what they represent to him?
speculation, imo.
Like the ones who fight back are disposed differently than the ones who didn't or something...?

I was thinking all along about the theory of it being someone who may have been working on a boat but the most compelling evidence was the guy from the nursery. My question is what did a sex worker do to this person? I drive a truck and i remember the guy who was murdering prostitutes at truck stops where he would stop because he Had contracted the aids virus from one .He seems to have a issue with women that are in the sex trade

Welcome to Websleuths. A brief cursory review shows me that many serial killers have "mommy issues." It could be that LISK's mother was a prostitute or unstable...something.

Had to look that up!

FT MYERS, FLORIDA — On the morning of March 23rd, around 10 o'clock, Detective Sgt. Jennifer Soto received a phone call that would lead her and other officers into a dark forest, and involve them in an unsettling mystery.

The caller said a human skull had just been found in a thick stand of melaleuca trees off Arcadia Road. At first, Soto and her partner were skeptical, because the area had long been used as a dumping ground by hunters disposing of hog and alligator remains.

Walking through the thick brush, however, it didn't take long for them to confirm the report was true. In fact, there was much more than just one human skull.

"Immediately, the officers had discovered that where the one skull was, there was a second. And within minutes I would say, the third had been discovered," Soto recalled.

"By seven o'clock that night, when we had branched out, we had a total of eight skeletons."
