I love the 'complexion' of this new series. It has an allure all on its own. Sort of reminds me stylistically of one of my favorite movies, Dark Passage (1947), a Warner Bros. film noir starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall.

Also the series shows promise for actually containing some real substance. Kudos to the filmmakers, keep up the good work!!!

And, kudos to Tricia for your part in it all, thanks!!!

It occurred to me too, that he made those Wiki edits. So does that mean he has some relationship to the PD? Is he a tech, clerical or IT worker? If so, what's the relationship to the guard? Was he a prisoner there, with a grudge against him? or is he just trying to sow confusion? Maybe the editor is not the killer, but a hacker with no relationship to the PD at all?

The killer has been talking. He has called survivors of at least two victims that we know of, a sister and a best friend, to taunt and threaten them (imo, there's no question this was him!)
And that makes me wonder if there are other victims out there. Victims who managed to get away from him, and don't realize they survived more than just a "bad date"!

Lady Fey, I've been saying for years that LE needs to talk to escorts because there is always someone who got away.

The burlap sacks keep coming up, cannot help but wonder about the association between burlap sacks and potatoes and potatoes with the Irish.
Many of the named victims appeared to be of Irish extraction, imo.
Could the killer have been making some kind of statement in his taunting phone call to a victim's sister, about QUEENS and wh**e house, and the comment about "half bre*d?
speculation, imo.

When was the man found ( that some people on the show said he was a cross dresser or something like) .

Iirc years ago some people referred to folks like that as "Queens"

Was he killed before that reference to Queens?

I have followed this case from the beginning and we have gone round and round about the burlap and it's possible significance and myraid uses and this is the first time anyone has mentioned potatoes being grown on LI and packed in burlap. It sure is nice to have input from the locals.

Former SCPD Chief Dormer said in an interview police never confirmed the use of burlap. He said that was something the media ran with but then again he didn't deny it.

For those who haven't seen, search for his "Get Secure Gilgo Beach" interviews on Arrow Security's YouTube channel. Some interesting tidbits if new to the case, esp for out of towners

Most likely Lisk was quite pissed off for being tricked bc outraged the Man-woman ruined the "normal" addicted mindset uncontrollably beating him--deep rooted ugly evil rage

Great show! What caught my attention was the mention of the killer possibly posting here. Surely he watches every news story and this show would feed his ego too much to ignore. The show highlighted this site, so what if he's following this conversation? That is a chilling thought.

It can happen. It's happened before. Read here about the murderer of Abraham Shakespeare, DeeDee Moore posting on Websleuths.

All I ask is you please don't start accusing each other of being the killer. That drives me nuts.

Let me check with our LISK administrators. Their minds are much sharper than mine and can find things quicker. LOL

Any recommended threads for the "Manorville Butcher" and/or Bittrolff other than Tangredi & McNamee one? Curious if this side of the story will stay in LISK forum

If LE has no criminal investigation into Shannon's death, then why would the 911 tape be considered evidence? Evidence of what?
If nothing else, it would be evidence in the lawsuit against Dr. Hackett.

The Gilbert family has filed a civil lawsuit against Dr. C. Peter Hackett, a former Suffolk County Police Department surgeon who owned a home in Oak Beach. Gilbert's mother said Dr. Hackett had called her shortly after Gilbert went missing and said he had medicated Shannan to calm her down.

First let me say congrats on a very well done show. I had seen promos and wanted to watch but for some reason forgot when it was on and last night caught both episodes by accident and was literally lost in it. Very eerie and informative. As a New Yorker who now lives in Ohio I had heard a lot about the case but had not heard anything in quite a while.

As I was watching I was wondering one thing, the cross dressing male. If he was indeed the same person who went missing from the church is it possible that with the theory of 2 serial killers, that one intentionally kidnapped, beat and dressed the Asian as a woman as a way of taunting or insulting the other killer. I would assume that the handling of the body would suggest rage and most likely the intention of dropping a male dressed as a female would be to emasculate and embarrass the other killer when it was found on "his" dumping grounds.

In reference to the burlap bag, if you do an image search of farming and Long Island, you'll find many examples, including farm to market type endeavors. For example, the image below, though the farm to market site it came from no longer exists, shows potato farming.

The whole burlap decor look may often enough be found at events during the summer on the Island, so besides farmers using burlap, decorators, designers, florists, etc... may make use of it as well.

Exactly what I hoping for. Thank you & Tricia for all your patience while some of us newbs start digging in. Hoping these discussion threads for The Killing Season can become an index of sorts for past discussions on this case. Creating an easy entry point for new readers is our best hope for some new leads or perspectives.

Agreed! His explanation of not knowing "burlap" rang true, and that detail seems a little too embarrassing to be made up. He could be confusing the facts though, otherwise the PD have mis-represented the facts. Were they asked to clarify?

Hi, WM. I recall potatoes mentioned vrey early on, so I did a forum search, and sure enough, potatoes were discussed in the very first thread in 2010.

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/search.php?searchid=6337098

Other threads where potatoes and burlap are discussed:

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/search.php?searchid=6337093

For those who don't know, or are new to the site, one will have to do a word search of each thread to find the posts which discuss potatoes. In the upper right side of each thread, just beneath the thread title, are a number of selections. Choose "Search Thread" and in this case enter "potatoes". The search will return all posts in the thread which contain the term "potatoes". The other way is to do a Forum Search from the forum index page. Choose "Show Posts". Hope that helps. :)

If you have more questions about the forum mechanics, please post them in the designated thread. http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...About-Websleuths-HERE&p=12928747#post12928747

Thanks!

Thank you so much for your kind words! Can't wait for you to see the rest of the season. Ep 6 is the ep I'm most proud of I think.

Congratulations on a great start! Question, are you still actively investigating at this time?

Thanks,
Nin

Actively is an interesting word. I don't think Josh and I can separate ourselves from the case and cases we investigated in the show. I immersed myself in the LISK case for years. I'm no longer driving to Long Island every other weekend to interview people but I still read every article, speak to family, press, LE (when they'll talk), I hope we get something we can "investigate" out of people watching the show.
