What happened to Travis' rights? Oh, that's right, Jodi Ann Arias took them from him on June 4th, 2008. I'm sure Travis would have liked the right to live. His family would have liked that too. They didn't get a say in it. Jodi took Travis' and his whole families rights away. And now we're supposed to be all cushy to Jodi's rights? After killing Travis 3 times over, dragging his good name through the mud, she shouldn't have to sit there and listen to what his family has to say? Unbelievable, really it is f'ing unbelievable that she doesn't think she should have to listen to his family in person. Really, Jodi is a piece of _____. I'll let you all fill in the blank.

I wonder if our Wonderful Prisoner finally had an outburst of violence today that had her thrown right out of chambers? Why else would HLN report a gurney on that floor?

Gurney's have straps on them and EMS carry ankle and wrist restraints to be used as needed!

PHOENIX - Authorities identified the two people arrested Thursday in connection with a tweet sent Wednesday about an IED in the Jodi Arias courtroom.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies arrested the man and woman around 11 a.m. at a hotel near 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road.

MCSO identified the male suspect as 18-year-old Laquint H. Cherry, and the female suspect as his girlfriend, Christina Hogan. She was questioned and then released.

My bet is that she really is waiving the rest of the proceedings and asking for the DP. Here is the way I got to my conclusion:
First, she gives her attorneys notice of her intent to waive, and that explains the "heated discussion" widely reported last night.
Then she gives the infamous FoxTV interview where she reasserts her claim of desire to have the DP over life in prison.
Next, she is given special visitation with her extended family at the prison - I read here that it was the first time she has spoken to her Mother since the start of trial. She probably informed her family of her choice at that time. Jean Cesares reported that her Mom, when leaving the jail, told her that she didn't know if she would testify or not at the mitigation because she didn't really know what was happening - but JC said it seemed like she really wanted to testify.
She was transferred to a psych ward after the family visit.
And then we have the unexpected delay until Wed. We know she would be subjected to a mandatory psych eval if she was going to waive.
Last, but not least, we heard that Martinez and TA's family were seen smiling later today after being together in a room where it sounded like they were "watching news" - so they were listening to the interview tapes from the Fox piece.

I am not sure, but all this adds up to a very believable scenario for me that she really is trying to waive the rest of the hearings and go directly to the DP. That would be great for me, since I really am against the DP, but I have no issues if someone is really asking for it!

This is a very well-thought out opinion and makes sense to me. Is it possible from a legal POV that it could be a possible scenario?

The death penalty blows my mind. It's just not in my range of experience. I know elsewhere on the internet that it's a big deal that JA is facing a possible DP. This strategy, if the case, brings to mind that Kevin Spacey movie (The Life of David Gale). Not that she's innocent but by measure of her requesting the DP, it draws even more attention to it.

In fact, scratch that thought. She hasn't been sentenced yet. But, if she does get the DP, it will be a big deal. Globally. She will make the most of that.

There was no court scheduled for tomorrow and Medical Examiner was not available to testify on Monday or Tuesday.

They say there is no medical evaluation being done on Jodi.

I'd still like to know why the Alexander family were escorted out of the courthouse today, but Jodi's family was not.

If she is trying to waive her right to mitigation, it is because she's having a crisis of control. The M1 conviction was a big fat slap and she's reading the tea leaves, she's going to death row.

So she's thinking, "If I'm going I'm going to do it on my terms. If it's my choice they don't get the satisfaction of sending me."

My guess is that they'll do their evals, find her competent, her attorneys will work on her, trying to convince her she has a shot at 25 years with parole. She'll believe them once the sting of conviction wears off because she can't imagine she didn't snow the jury at least a little bit, and this time next week we'll be moving into mitigation.

Mitigation should go like this:

CFJA's mom: She gave me a Mother's Day card in 1996.

CFJA's dad:

CFJA's sister: she was nice to me once before school one day...well, I mean she WAS sleeping, but that's something isn't it?

CFJA's grandma: She's a good colorer. She colored me a picture once of a dead pig.

Jodi's behavior is not so much wanting to control the situation as much as being sooooo narcissistic she doesn't really see what's going on.

I realize it seems like the same issue, but what I'm saying is not. A control freak is fully aware and constantly planning/scheming to stay in control. It requires knowing what the other faction is up to.

A narcissist is only aware of how they see things, not really caring or seeing how their actions are perceived.

Hard for me to explain what I'm thinking.

Video taping removes some of the humanity, detaches things a bit and that's not fair because this family's suffering is real, it's honest and it isn't pandering it's the true impact of the convicted murderers evilness. She is so all about punishing Travis' family as much as possible. No doubt because they scoffed at the plea deal and support the DP for her IMO. It's disgusting.

A TOAST! (throws toast) yay And I've had hln on in the background today; because I thought court started earlier...so I waited and waited, and then all this...it was truly bizarre. I found getting everyone out the back door strange as well but HLN DID REPORT this morning that another bomb sweep would be done at that courthouse at 4pm; how do we know they didn't find something? Or were concerned about something....we don't. I have huge misgivings to find that the Sheriff is behind some of this. What a huge HUGE SNAFU.

I think it's another stunt to try to delay the proceedings, to continue to torment TA's family, and to possibly have one juror tainted by the outside world so that a new jury needs to be sworn in for the next phase! Her usual despicable tactics. I also do not for a second believe that her lawyers were unaware that she was doing the interview last night. They took off but it was part of the plan.
