Seems like there is an industry to create excuses....

[ETA:A round of applause (w likes and loves) for @positive, pls]

Not saying anyone is fabricating a "Mental Health" diagnosis to explain CR's actions and to defend against potential criminal prosecution for those actions.

But darn, sometimes seems to be true in other cases.
imo, jmo, moo, moo, moo.

Looking back here, I think reading that CR was trying and failing to get into the UAB nursing program after already earning a bachelor's Degree in Psychology-- because she wanted to be a Registered Nurse (RN), is confusing if not misleading.

For clarification, I offer the following:

A registered nurse (RN) is not something obtained by being admitted into a nursing program or earning a college degree but by passing a nurse licensing exam by the State Board of Nursing.

While one can certainly go the 4-year+ University route, and earn a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing, meeting the pre-licensure qualifications to sit for the State Board exam, the same can also be achieved by completing a 2-year community college nursing program-- earning an associate in applied science degree.

For example, reportedly, CR is/was attending Jefferson State Community College which states the following about its two-year, pre-licensure nursing program:

THE PROGRAM:

The Registered Nursing Program at Jefferson State Community College is a two-year associate in applied science degree program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN) and approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing. The nursing program combines general education and nursing courses in sequence while providing knowledge related to professionalism, nursing skills, and the tools needed to practice as a registered nurse.

In other words, 7 years ago CR could have graduated high school, and entered the community college nursing program, and provided she successfully passed the State Board exam, today she could have been practicing as an RN for 5 years already.

And this is not to discount going the baccalaureate route to becoming an RN, but somehow I get the feeling that CR requires instant gratification-- where at age 25, she's been floundering for more years than not. Also, it seems to me that CR probably could have benefited from focusing on a two-year program for either the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or RN license, until she gained some maturity to further both her education and her career. JMO

ETA: I come from a family of RNs -- Grandmother and Mum went the Bachelors and Masters route, becoming Hospital Administrators, but my favorite Aunt, at age 17-- followed the way of the Registered Nurse Apprentice which in UK was something like work-study and nursing school combined. However, she was also able to retire long before Mum and could then work on-call for emergency relief services. What I know for certain is that nursing is a calling -- a profession best suited for the selfless, and those of a caring and compassionate nature, plus the ability to work well under pressure! :)

Good thing she doesn’t live in Egypt:
An Egyptian graduate student and human rights advocate accused of spreading “fake news” was sentenced to three years in prison in Egypt on Tuesday, a harsh conclusion to a case that had inspired a mass outpouring of support in Italy, where he studied, and in Egypt.
I visited Egypt several years ago, absolutely wonderful experience but there’s a certain code of behavior expected somewhat out of respect is my thinking.

Nobody is, actually.
nobody is describing her irrational behaviour and presenting it as an 'excuse' for what she has allegedly done.
Those of us who have described it are exploring where and why it is irrational.
It's a massive leap to suggest it is being presented as an excuse.
That is all.

@Seattle1 et al

Check this out. Jefferson joined with UAB to offer a combined AAS and BSN program. Maybe that's where I was confused.

Jefferson State Community College (JSCC) and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) are excited to offer students the option to obtain BOTH an associate degree in nursing (ADN) from JSCC AND a baccalaureate degree (BSN) from the UAB at the SAME time!!!! Simultaneously completing the requirements for both the ADN and BSN programs will allow students to complete their programs of study in a much shorter time period while taking advantage of the lower community college credit hour costs!

i get a Casey Anthony vibe the longer this goes on. Another immature exhibitionist…maybe a serial liar…and a family that is frustrated, but will cover for her and lie, lie, lie if necessary to protect her.

That is not a healthy environment. She needs consequences. Casey needed them…then a child died.

Anyone see her post with the new car they got her for graduation? Then she references ‘an accident.’ VOILA! They get her a fancier car…a red Mercedes. Are they ordering her some lavish present as we speak…poor baby.

She certainly vacations a lot, always posing in multiple swimsuits…for someone in school who has a job as well. Is she portraying the life she aspires to?

I bought her lies 100% and so did millions of others. I wish we had all seen her social media first.

Now I’m puzzled that anyone could think it should all be swept under the rug. I’m puzzled anyone should think that enabling her, indulging her…is a healthy way to deal with her or guide her to a decent future.

Once some girl friends and I rented a cottage for a week in Muskoka, an area in Ontario with tons of lakes. The week started out sunny and warm but on day two turned cloudy and cool with rain four days in row. When we found out our beach vacation was going to be a bust we took tons of photos the day before the weather turned (this was before cell cameras) changing our bathing suits and clothes as if we'd had a glorious sunny week away. In reality, the one day we spent at a beach we got leeches on our bodies laying under a waterfall and played hundreds of card games for the rest of the week and ate too much food.

I also think her phone call from the RRI is a clue. I have a feeling that once she saw this blowing up on the news she actually called her parents to confess. But when she saw how freaked out they were it shocked her so she didn't confess. Just got off the phone and headed home panicking and coming up with a story the whole way home.

Reportedly, Mrs. Russell said she received a text purported to be from her daughter that she was at the RRI but the text did not provide which RRI and/or the location. From the 911 call by the Hotel Management, I thought it odd that Mrs. Russell did not alert Hoover PD (already being assisted by the FBI), about the text message which could have immediately determined the sender. Instead, it seems the extended family arrived at RRI and proceeded to knock on the doors of guests.

“There is one terrible and heartless hoax we want to address out of several. I received a text at some point from someone claiming to be Carlee and that she was at the Red Roof Inn. However, when my family went there and knocked on doors and looked for her and there was no indication Carlee was there nor that she had ever been there.

Had I had a bachelor's degree already, I would have fast tracked it too. I would do anything I could to use what credits I could towards a BSN or MSN. It's rare that anyone with a degree already is going downgrade to an associates when they can use their degree already earned to get a second bachelors or an MSN.
At 25 she hasn't been floundering-She already had a prior degree and changed her mind and wanted a different degree. I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life until in my 40s. There's nothing to be criticized about any of this here IMO.

Yes, this was posted early on in her "disappearance" in a lengthy discussion about her struggle to get into nursing school.

LE did not mention the family going to RRI nor the parents going to Atlanta. But there is a possibility the police went also and just hasn't been shared...(??)
