One serious question is: why did CW confess? How likely is it that he confessed because he thought being in the jail was a better strategic position for him?

If CW was planning to escape then yes, a county jail, where the staff is extremely lax with procedures, suited his plans better than a state prison. And he knew how the Lauderdale jail is run, because he was there before.

Agreed. More likely that her orders carried weight since she was Assistant Director of Corrections. They may have felt she had authority to overstep policy or have felt like there would be negative repercussions for not honoring the Assistant Director’s apparent wish? (Speculating.)

Or everyone working there was so used to not sticking with procedures, nobody bat an eyelid when VW took the prisoner out saying she would drop the paperwork later.

Just some pondering on my part...

Wouldn't LE have a BOLO out on her personal vehicle if it wasn't accounted for? To me that only leaves the possibility of Uber/taxi or a third party directly involved. And I'm not sure she would have risked Uber or the like because of the ability to trace the transaction. Is the city large enough to have a taxi service that might hang out around the mall?

I can't see a way that Vicky is not voluntarily involved, which means she likely would have to have access to cash, because surely she's not planning on turning herself in. Having a large amount of cash with a murderer for hire seems like a bad combination.

Also if CW was only in the jail for 3 weeks, that's a really fast timeline to go from stranger to willing to risk your life to bust a murderer out of prison after a 25 year career. Not to mention make a solid plan. I'm sure VW would be in the ideal position to get him out of the jail, but the logistics of staying off the radar for months or even years for the heat to die down? Certainly makes me wonder if CW's desire to be at that particular jail was because VW was there.

I'm not buying the hit man confession for a minute. He's already in state prison until 2090 and a confession to a death penalty crime is not going to help him one bit. A crime they never even looked at him for or questioned him about, to boot.

Not to mention he suddenly and conveniently claimed "insanity" once he reached his goal of getting back to Lauderdale County jail. And then conveniently escaped. If he confessed in a moment of conscience and wanted to take accountability why would he suddenly claim to be insane and then escape from the jail?

If he wanted to take down the person or people that hired him he would have. But he didn't. He left for better pastures. Which, for him, is any place that is not prison. That confession was a complete ruse and the fact that it worked is beyond comprehension. IMO
Agree. I am still going with your early theory. IMO this jail house romance may have been going on for some time say back when he first landed in this jail. His confession is bogus IMO as well. One of the links stated when CW confessed he knew certain details. Gosh I wonder who would have access to details of a crime that only LE knew. It got him back where he wanted and needed to be. IMO

This, and with the problems from the Covid pandemic and supposedly the jail being very short staffed (allegedly this isn’t the first time a prisoner was transported by a solo officer), this was the primo time to attempt another escape.

Would a corrections officer have access to that information? Unless she’s one of the investigators that worked on that case, how would she know? I wouldn’t imagine an investigator telling her info that’s need-to-know only.

The family relationships have been out on SM for awhile. I'm just waiting for The Sun or The Daily Mail to print it.

ETA: oops.....looks like they just did.
I must have missed the family relationship before now. I thought LE was still saying there was no relation.
I just checked daily mail and the Sun and don't see it. You mentioned they "just did". Do you happen to have a link? TIA!

Could access be gained by computer at Sheriffs Office. Doesn't seem like there were many protocols followed.

She’s technically employed by the Sheriff’s Office so she may have access to that information, or could get that information from someone who does. MOO.

You don't need a computer. LE is a very close-knit community and they talk to each other about everything. Crime scenes, investigations, clues, leads. Everything. Especially in a small town like that. They all know things they are not supposed to know. jmo

ETA: My little sister was a county deputy for decades and heck, even I know a whole lot of things I'm not supposed to know. And I'm not even in law enforcement.

Additional ETA: I came to hate socializing with my little sister and her LE friends. All they did was "talk shop". Who did what to who, where, when. On and on and on. Every little detail about everything. And it was impossible to change the subject.

Not that CW and VW are related. The question was about if VW had any family (because normally you might see family publicly appealing for her safe return, etc. But no family has been mentioned in news reports). A DailyMail article today quoted an ex-mother-in-law from when VM was apparently married to a Tommy White almost two decades ago. Her ex-husband passed away in January of this year. If you read through the last page or two of posts, you will see the more detailed discussion.

Hope that helps to clarify things.
