I am still curious as to how they got out of the original LE vehicle they were in when leaving the jail.

He was riding in the back in prison garb. She was up front. Maybe she had a handcuff key and clothes already stashed in the backseat for him? Because I think it would be something a witness might notice if LE is letting a handcuffed criminal in jail clothes out of the backseat in a random parking lot and putting them in a civilian vehicle. Kwim?

Has that been addressed at all in any of the news reports? I know they said the driving time from the jail to where the LE vehicle was caught on camera was in line with her driving a straight shot, no detours. So where did they find a place to move him from the backseat of an LE car to a regular car where someone else might not have seen it?

Thanks in advance.

I'm thinking of another angle entirely, and this is all JMO, but what do we know about the 'missing' brother of CW's? Would love to know more about him as far as CW is concerned. Were they close? Did they share WS ideologies? Could VW have met the brother & 'fallen in love'? Could the brother have them in hiding? If he is still alive, he has managed to stay hidden for 5 yrs. Was this escape plan started more than 2 yrs ago?
JMOO.
That’s a little too much like a Danielle Steele novel for me. I’m thinking no. But nothing is impossible.

Western Maryland in the Deep Creek Lake area--a lot of mostly unoccupied in the Summer ski chalets or condos all around that area. These places are pretty nice, usually multi level with many bedrooms and walkout decks and full kitchens etc. I wouldn't necessarily go seasonal squatting in one, even tho they tend to be used more during ski season than warmer months. The owners do usually offer them for vacation rentals even in the off-season and you could have someone show up who legit rented the unit you're squatting in.
But if you find one that was independently owned and leased by a private owner, probably be pretty easy to work out a deal to lease it throughout the summer into the Fall, until ski season started. That would solve the problem of having to turn on utilities/internet etc in someone's name at a place VK bought and owned. It's all in the owner's name in the case of the vacation/ski condo rental and you pay them to cover everything.
And for what's a very rural area, out of town faces or a strange vehicle parked outside a vacation condo would not stand out, due to people vacationing in the area for winter skiing and even summer boating on the lake and hiking etc.

Some people thought it could look like he was tucking something into his sleeve in the video where VW was taking him out of the jail. Someone threw out it could be a key. Other than that, I’ve seen absolutely nothing.

I think in that footage, though, it was a guy LE officer beside/behind CW. So when/where/how would CW have gotten the key at that point?

MOO.

I would really like to know more of the logistics of how they got out of the LE vehicle and out of town without being seen.

Yes! And if they broke down, how did they get off on foot with whatever belongings they had in the car without being seen. And what are the odds of the car breaking down 2 hours (give or take) into their get-away-plan?
That seems to be the question of the day. How could they have gotten out of that rural location with their belongings?

Did they have help? Another car hidden nearby? Im waiting for LE to verify if the car had any mechanical or engine problems.

<modsnip>

It might be a good idea to keep an eye on the news for any incidents involving a man, a woman, a shotgun and an AR-15. They could be anywhere. Even in Maryland.

I've been keeping my eyes peeled for any possible lookalikes in my area in WA (you never know). We should all check our local news at least daily to see if there is any crime that shares similarities with Casey's known crimes IMO.

I’ve been wondering this same thing. Also, when officials say they had a lot of phone contact when he was at the other jail— inmate calls are always recorded, so how romantic could they have been??:(
Unless he had access to a burner phone or other device and they somehow used some kind of other tech to talk. Some correctional facilities let inmates take classes online or rent movies, I’ve heard, though I don’t know how widespread this is. But it sounds like VW knew how to get him special privileges if they existed.

And, as far as "acting the part", that was out the window anyway, as she was escorting him alone and not per protocol (two armed deputies)
Well alone or not, she still couldn’t just sprint out laughing and dancing like they were escaping or the gig would’ve been up. So there was some amount of pretending this was an official prison procedure. Nothing to see here.

Exactly. Honestly so far any time she was caught on camera, she wasn’t doing anything surprising (for the situation) and did not give up any new information. So far it *seems* she has been pretty camera-savvy.
