Hiawatha Robinson, the father accused of killing his 8-year-old daughter during a sexual assault in 2014, plans to plead guilty to a federal firearm charge, according to a pretrial conference order filed in court Tuesday.
...
Prosecutors noted Robinson was also convicted of third-degree domestic violence in 2004. Under federal law, a person may not have a firearm if he or she has been convicted of a domestic violence crime.

What a piece of work! No word yet on when the murder case goes to the Grand Jury.

Here's an old interview where HR talks about how he's been the "victim" of LE, msm and Social Media. Bad ol' LE busted down his door and now it's $500 or $600 to fix it. And that search warrant - the one he didn't read. Good thing he had 1,000's of people standing behind him. Poor abused man... SMH.

Reporter asks "Do you have any idea of what happened to her, any theories?"

HR responds " No... but... I sit around, day by day like everybody else, waiting on the question to come out."

Bill would create Hiawayi Robinson missing child alert system

Alabama would create a new alert system for missing children under a bill named in honor of an 8-year-old girl from Prichard who was found slain in September. The Senate Judiciary Committee today approved the bill to create the system named after Hiawayi Robinson.

Hiawayi went missing on Sept. 16, but authorities did not issue an Amber Alert because the situation did not meet the criteria. She was found dead in an abandoned building on Sept. 18.

Hiawayi's father, Hiawatha Robinson, is charged with felony murder and sodomy in her death.

Sen. Vivian Davis Figures, D-Mobile, is sponsoring the bill to set up the Hiawayi Robinson Statewide Emergency Missing and Exploited Children Alert System, which is intended to expedite the process of alerting the public about missing and endangered children.

"I am humbled and honored to name this piece of legislation after Hiawayi because many other children will be saved," Figures said in a statement. "Although I never met her, I fell in love with her during the community's search for her."

I am home sick today and came across this thread and read the whole sorry story. How in the world can you have the childs body, evidence of sodomy (dear god), but NO DNA evidence of the person arrested? Is that even possible? Was she thoroughly washed? Does anyone know? I worry about circumstantial evidence. I really want him to pay for this heinous act.

Thank you zo much for updating
Pre-planned? All precautions taken?

Plus by it being such a small town...VERY LIMITED RESOURCES for a thorough investigation?

While Prichard is a small place, it is on the outskirts of Mobile. Mobile is a city of 200k population and they assisted in this investigation. Iirc that is where he is being prosecuted. At least it is the DA in Mobile bringing charges.

But! Mobile is the same police force, who for months, insisted that the sex ring going on in that crazy family had nothing to do with the disappearance of Brittney Wood. So...

A piece of legislation that would create a new missing child alert system named after 8-year-old Hiawayi Robinson, of Prichard has passed in both the Alabama House and Senate.
...
Under the new system, when child is reported missing to a local law enforcement agency, and if those responsible for the child confirm that the child is missing, an alert would be triggered.

The bill lists persons responsible as parents, grandparents, other relatives, teachers and other caregivers.

The local law enforcement agency would be required to notify the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, issue an alert to local media and post a photograph of the child on its website.

Hiawatha Robinson sentenced to 30 months in federal prison on a charge of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

Jeff Deen, Robinson's attorney, said, "Unfortunately, Hiawatha did have some old cases from about 15 years ago, and they find him with a firearm, so, we decided to get this one out of the way and go with the major case."

GRAND JURY INVESTIGATION

The major case is the murder and sodomy charges Robinson faces in the death of his eight year old daughter, Hiawayi.

A grand jury is still reviewing the case.

Lots of word salad from HR's attorney. Like:

"He made some statements, when they found out all these horrible things that happened to his daughter. He was angry, and, some of his friends had gone and gotten, go find the person who did it and, of course, that involved them having firearms, so, we're kind of locked into a statement he made, so, I don't blame him for having that reaction. You don't think about your record when something like that happens to your daughter."

Kind of like what Wesley Hadsell's attorney is trying to sell - an angry father who will do anything to protect his daughter. Except of course that in this case Robinson is accused of being his daughter's murderer.

Chief U.S. District Judge William Steele ordered Robinson to participate in drug and alcohol treatment as well.
...
Deen said the shotgun did not belong to Robinson but was in his house.

In federal court today, Robinson told the judge he had worked two jobs, has a family, and “never hurt nobody.”

“Yeah, he said he hadn't done anything violent in his past,” said Deen. “But if you're a convicted felon you can't have a firearm. That's the law.”

Yeah, it seems kind of weird. All I could make of this article is that Robinson is now in federal prison for the gun charge while he waits for his murder trial to begin. No mention of the Grand Jury result:

On Dec. 17, a grand jury indicted Robinson on the federal charges just one day after Mobile County District Attorney Ashley Rich announced he would face murder and sodomy charges in the death of his daughter, Hiawayi. The state's case was sent to a grand jury in January.

The lack of DNA is going to make this a tough case to prosecute. If the GJ returns a true bill I won't be surprised if the DA offers a plea deal.

WPMI news (Mobile) just reported that Mr. Robinson is in court today for a bond review. This was a broadcast and I haven't found a link to share.

"One Year Later, Remembering Hiawayi Robinson"

http://www.utv44.com/news/features/top-stories/stories/One-Year-Later-Remembering-Hiawayi-Robinson-206128.shtml#.VfuzNhFViko

One year ago, on a muggy September night, Yosha Populus and her family frantically called police to report her 8-year-old daughter Hiawayi Robinson missing.

Mobile County District Attorney Ashley Rich stopped by the “Remembering Hiawayi Robinson” memorial Wednesday to comfort the family. Robinson’s father Hiawatha Robinson is charged with felony murder and sodomy in his daughter’s death. He is being held without bond. At the memorial, she told the community that her office is working to get “justice”.

Such a beautiful girl with such a sweet smile and so much life left for her to live. Those pictures of her just kill me. :rose:

Hopefully, this is good news:

Hiawayi’s father, Hiawatha Robinson, was arrested for the murder months later. While he still awaits trial, District Attorney Ashley Rich says the case is progressing.

“I can’t comment on when but I see there being some movement on this case in the very near future,” said Rich.

She said her office recently received results of forensic testing from the FBI crime lab but would not elaborate on the results.

I know there's some question about whether any DNA was recovered. Maybe the latest tests have found something that will help convict this awful man.

And many thanks guys for keeping on top of the case! I have a small list that I Google every week or so hoping for updates. Hiawayi is on the list but I've dropped the ball lately. It's good to know that others are still following her case. :loveyou:
