So sad to think of her in the store buying candy :( . Her mother said in an interview that she was going to her cousin's because her father was going there and she knew he would give her some money. Anxious to hear if she went there alone or was taken there by POI or someone else.

Aww man no, been busy and distracted and just saw found deceased :(

RIP Hawayi, pretty girl with the pretty name  :rose:

I'm not caught up with the thread, but somewhere in one of the MSM articles, the father stated he did not know Hawayi was coming over. Which made me question where she got the 4 dollars for candy and whether where the money came from has anything to do with her disappearance and presumed murder.

The person of interest has come forward for questioning. WKRG is reporting via facebook that she is being interviewed because she was the last person to see Hawayi alive.

I'm confused on the story of the father, too. First I've heard that he spoke to her on the phone, then he did not. The mother says she was going to get money from him. I heard she called him to TELL him she wanted some money from him, so it is very unclear to me. I am sure the authorities are on the inconsistencies in those statements and my hopes are that the MSM is just getting the facts jumbled right now.

So glad the person came forward. Maybe they have some answers they don't even know they have and LE will be able to ask the right questions to get to the info.

If this person came forward, why are they called a "POI"?

I'm so angry. We can be self-assured that WE would never let our child walk from here to there {I am very protective as well}, but we don't know the community Hiawayi lived in. Were many of her neighbors friends and/or family? Her parents likely felt that everyone was watching out for everyone's kid.

Watching her parents yesterday broke my heart, they were both clearly so hopeful. :(

I'm trying to be optimistic, but maybe if the weather was bad, she was hit by a car & someone doesn't know they even hit her. That scenario would be better than another little girl abused and murdered. Have LE determined it was a homicide or are we waiting for autopsy results?

Poi has been cleared, she was just standing in line behind the child at the store. This from WKRG TV 5.

nothing has been reported on the cause of death that I have seen or heard. I have all the major news outlets in the area in my facebook news feed and nothing there yet, either.

Within this community, it is not uncommon to see children out and about way younger than what I would feel appropriate. But that doesnt mean I lay blame with the parents, people just dont want to believe these sorts of things will happen, but they do. It is strange that she was so close to home if she was "dumped" there, but it was probably just a crime of opportunity. I would love to hear it was something less sinister, like a hit and run in that bad storm we had the other day. I'm just not sure why she would be down that road walking.

I think it was a crime of opportunity also. Someone in the area who didn't want to risk being caught transporting a body.

I wonder if the lady at the gas station saw anything. Was Hiayala there by herself? Was anyone waiting for her?

I still want to know where the candy money came from.

I just now made it back to this thread and started reading comments...but then when I got up to the tragic news, I just have not been able to read anymore. You would think I could start to prepare myself for the heartbreaking endings, but apparently, I just always hold out hope.

So I am crushed. Thanks to all on this thread. We all cared about this precious little girl. How could we see her sweet little face and not care...

No words are adequate. :(

I don't think she went down that road alone. The local news are putting out a lot of video of the area. I hate to sound vulgar but it looks like the type of place where someone would take a victim to be violated in seclusion. I am afraid that is what happened and her little body was left there at the sight of the attack.

I think she ran into someone she 'knew' at the complex. Told them she was going to get $ from her DAd, and they said " don't bother-here's 4 dollars, I'll walk you to the store...'

Do they have a maintenance man working there? Do any of her friends have uncles or big brothers, that she might know?

I was just about to post that she was found without clothes. So sad.

That sounds pretty logical, which is why I hope they have more surveillance than has been made public.
