So similar to many other current cases right now. Sad. How plausible is it that the SM killed all 3? Fed up with the supposed domestic violence that she just snapped? A 5 year old would be able to tell authorities what happened or what was going on...so she can't leave a witness. Heck, I teach 3 year olds and they tell me some CRAZY things that I would never expect them to know, so in a less detailed way, the boy could have, too. It's somewhat troubling, though, that the little girl had been seen, but not the boy.

She clearly put herself in scrutiny to ask for protection. She obviously thought being charged was less dangerous than dealing with biodad alone.

I dunno My daughters boyfriend said he thought it sounded like the SM and her Stepfather might have done something with all of them.

Is it possible the child abuse charges stem from an investigation of the childrens disapearance and something neither of the two who made reports to police thought would come out?

IDK. She is the only one who's behind bars and not missing. How can she be charged in crimes against children who are nowhere to be found? And after what appears to be months later? :waitasec:

More news stations picking this up will help track him down, this is so bizarre. If they have been missing that long stepmonster surely knows more then she is saying, I mean she just thought they were playing outside 24-7.........

According to one article they said it was family relation to SM that walked into the PD to report the children being dead....

Hi & Welcome, Could you link to her being disabled? The Darlington School has boarding, couldn't tell who financed the tuition & don't know where her bio father is from or located.

It was reported earlier in the thread by a local that she is 'slow' and that is why she didn't have custody.

Here is why the mother says she doesnt have custody. I am not holding her at fault for the dads actions. Fathers have been living away from their kids forever There is a different set of rules for mothers. I am not making assumptions/judgement on her at this time. (reserving the right to do so later)

Natalie turned five years old last month. Chase turns four this month. But, Heathcock hasn't seen them for more than a year.

I am origanially from mobile ( so I look at their news sites often, as I have family and a grown child still in that area) and this is the first I have haerd of this also.... as far as Peach Place... I have know people to live there they have several locations around Mobile county and we called it " Crack Head" Inn... They were rent by the week one bedroom apartments... and everyone "I" ever knew to live there were not very stable people, I am just sickened that children go missing soooo long before anyone hears about it.

BREAKING NEWS Police have located the father of two children, missing and feared dead.


A source close to the family says John Deblase, 28, was picked up by police last night in Milton, FL. Police began looking for Deblase after his ex-wife went to police in Louisville, KY and said he killed his children.

Mobile police confirm they are talking to Deblase, but will not release any other details.

This is so sad. I am about an hour from Mobile. I wonder if SM is being charged because she was aware of the abuse...maybe she did partcipate, but it began to get out of control. Maybe she was scared of bio-dad and went to the PD without "specifics" because she was afraid to tell them but was hoping they would step in (hence the lack of evidence on her own person). I don't know if it is legal, but maybe they are holding her as long as they can so that he will come forward not wanting her to take the rap for something he is responsible for.

I think a lot of times step parents are jealous of these children. I have actually experienced the jealousy of step parent myself. They want their own family with their spouse and little reminder of any former "life" or relationship. With that said, that could work both ways. Maybe bio-dad wanted his own new family and felt those precious little kids were in the way of that. ??

This is almost unbearable....Kyron, Zahra, Skelton boys and so many countless others. It literally makes me nauseous.

(MOBILE, Ala.) - Mobile Police have John Deblase in custody. There is still no sign of his two missing children. Police say he is not under arrest.

Natalie and Jonathan Chase Deblase were last seen in Mobile in July. Court documents reveal their stepmother Heather Leavell-Keaton fears their father killed them.

She is in jail in Kentucky charged with two counts of willful abuse of a child. Their biological mother says she does not know what to think.

"I don't want to think my children are dead. I don't even want to contemplate it. I'm just tying to keep hope," Corrine Heathcock said.

Dana Mullins says it was taken from a much happier time. She says she witnessed both verbal and physical abuse of the children when Deblase, his children and Leavell-Keaton stayed with her earlier this year.

"She had taken her by the hair of the head and was beating her with a studded belt. She let out a blood curling scream. So I stepped in," Mullins said.

As Heathcock waits, more information about her ex-husband John Deblase is coming out in court documents. Leavell-Keaton, who has an infant child with Deblase, told investigators in Kentucky she feared for her daughter's safety.

She wrote in a statement, "I am afraid that he is going to do something to harm our daughter" because "he may have murdered his children." She went on to write that Deblase found the children unresponsive and he "had to do what he had to do."

"Could I expect John Joseph Deblase of this? No. Do I know he's got a bad temper, yes. I don't want to believe it, not somebody that I trusted with my children," Heathcock said.

Just a point here about families...
My husband has a daughter-my stepdaughter who lives in the South. We're on the East Coast. We have to be just now for job reasons.
Step daughter is a single mom. Her own mom has health issues. She and Step daughter don't always get on.
Step-daughter has a daughter, our grand daughter. If something happened, we might not know right away, being here on the East Coast, unless Step Daughter called us, or we here. And there have been times she wasn't able to call us for a week or so.

In this case, if this step mom didn't care for the kids mom or her family she could do plenty to keep them away from them. Same with dad. We don't know what the relationship is like with his own family.

They found dad now, maybe there will be some answers. I am praying that these little children are found safe. I don't understand the anger this step mom had toward these children. I can understand a smack on the bottom, a spanking if a child is misbehaved. But beating children in rage....that I just don't understand. It's picking on someone truly small and helpless, and it makes me really angry.
