I just hope the guy he shot was a liberal! :D

I highly suspect that he was....how you ask? Well, he left before the shooting was done....he was waiting in the wings for the action to stop.....he came slithering back up without announcing his presence--presumably hoping to share in the spoils.....and he didn't have sense enough to get out of the line of fire. Nothing says liberal like that! :bang:

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Cal--You are just TOO funny! ITA with your description! Just add, "a lib would feel up Katherine Armstrong on the way back" too.

I think it's rather sick and sad that people enjoy making fun of someone getting injured. Totally expected, but sick and sad just the same.
Nice to see there is seven pages of it too. NOT! :loser:
I guess there IS accounting for class........:loser: :croc:

I agree Mic, and Reader, sorry sweetie, as I meant to tell you how excellent that was! :woohoo: Letterman's jokes were Dumbo for sure!

I allso liked this headline I saw on CNN:

It's DICK ~ DUCK

BaHaaaaaaaaaaaa Hee Hee O Haa Haa YaaaaaHeeeeeeeeeeeeee :D {Like they say, Cheyney's jokes just write themselves ;}

I am not making fun of anyone getting injured but I sure am making fun of the one that did the injuring - LOOK before you shoot MR VP.
I am also able to laugh at Clinton without trying to wrongly accuse him of killing his dog.
JFK Jr was not serving in any office and I have no idea why his tragic plane crash would be brought up in this thread. Please... let JFK Jr, Caroline and Lauren off the hook about VP Cheney shooting someone. Not one of those 3 souls were serving in politics and their deaths have nothing to do with this hunting accdient.

Letterman was terrible but that headline is funny! Thanks for sharing.

I heard someone say they were surprised Cheney didn't dress him out on the field, and that Cheney rode to the hospital with Whittington, and when they opoened the door Whittington had ketchup all over him and Cheney was wearing aqn apron! but funny, if he really thought he got the big bird.

BaHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa YaHoo Gettiup little dogie, we're goin' to a Texas B B Que  :croc:

:D I read more comments today about how no one likes Cheney, he has no aspirsions to become President, so can be his grumpy rough self! Because of that many think he is the power behind the President, which I think is true. Sat Night Live has Bush down pat with his giggly little shrug and that grin like he thinks he is so cute and smart! :rolleyes: And that's no joke ;}

Did I hear correctly that the VP didn't have the right license to be hunting??? Whats up with that????

Off topic but isn't the Hollywood depiction of the hunter and / or fisherman just so wrong.

On TV/Movies, you see the fat, drunk idiot redneck type person that just kills to kill. It is effective, look at the opinions expressed here.

Truth be told, true hunters are the salt of the Earth type people. We care very much for the land and the animals we hunt. We spend untold hours improving the land we hunt and planting food for the animals we hunt. We supplement nature where inequities exist with year-round food and habitat for the animals. We generally pick up trash as we walk through land that others have thrown out. We are generally very courteous people who wouldn't think of letting a door slam in a ladie's face. Most of the hunters I know are decent, honest hard working individuals that I would rather spend my time with.

How is it that we have come to receive such an unfair and inaccurate depiction?

Cal
It's all in the portrayal by people who know nothing about hunting or fishing or anything else. People who think their angus beef comes from the meat fairy.

Not a hunter or fisherman here but every hunter I have ever known hunts for food, either for themselves or others and fish for fun and eat the fish they catch and tell stories about the "one that got away". LOL!

I am too much a chicken-livered coward to try rabbit, quail and venison. I can't even eat lamb.

I know a guy whose whole family hunts and they feed the deer that come around their home in the suburbs and NO they can't hunt in the city limits. They just believe in giving back and taking care of the ones whose land we keep taking away. :blowkiss:

I'll bring up who I wish and when I wish. You aren't God, thank goodness.

You ARE making fun of the man who got injured. Whether directly or indirectly and it's digusting as he!!.

Clinton let his dog go off without a leash, all the time. Because of this, the dog took off and got struck by a car. He didn't have to be there to have a hand in it. :loser: :bang:

Maybe we SHOULD bring up seperate threads about these other incidents and make fun of them.
Naw, we conservatives have too much class. It's much more fun watching the libs roll in the mud. "sssssssooooooeeeeeeyyyyyyy"!!

Buzzm1, I like your Cheneyed!

scandi and mic730, thanks!

Our Buzz is actually a very clever commedien. I'm gonna pull up his first one again here, it was so great!

>1) What is the USUAL action taking for somebody who hunts without following the law and getting a stamp?

Probably a fine but it seems that some think there should be a Congressional Investigation, Cheney should be arrested, he should really resign and this will be the first time the left will be in favor of the death penalty.

2) What is the USUAL action taking for somebody who shoots a fellow hunter due to negligence? It depends on the circumstances. The police are investigating this. I think there is a difference between negligence and an accident. This sounds like an accident. Unless evidence points to the fact that Cheney attempted to murder his friend in cold blood I think you will be dissappointed in the outcome of this. After all, he IS the vice-prez. The left will have to keep looking for something else. Maybe he stole a pack of gum or something when he was a kid. After all, no charges were pressed against Clinton when the White House was vandalized the day he left office or for all of the items taken from it and Air Force One. And I don't think that was an accident. President Bush didn't want to make a big deal out of it and embarrass the outgoing Prez.

3) Does a person of wealth and power receive the same treatment as an average citizen when such laws are broken here in the US? No. consider Sandy Berger. He entered the national archives and stole top secret documents. Stuffed them down his pants and later burned them. What do you think would happen if WE did that? Sandy Berger is walking around free and the press never mentions it. Consider Ted Kennedy. He drives his girlfriend off a bridge, driving drunk, and doesn't report it for hours. Leaves her there to drown. Is he in jail? Would you be? Yet he is walking around free and is a Senator who lectures Supreme Court nominees on morality.

4) Would it make a difference if this had happened in another state besides Texas? Probably not. Dick Cheney would still be the Vice-President if he was in Maine, South Carolina or Massachusetts. Although I think in Massachusetts they would have dragged him out of his hotel room and lynched him by now.

Good grief. A cover up conspiracy too? I think the media is making a fool out of themselves over this. Why would Cheney be obligated to tell the press about this. Local law enforcement knew, I doubt he planned on keeping it a secret. As far as I know, he didn't break any law by NOT telling anyone the very minute it happened. This is just silly. The way this is causing such fits with the left you'd think Dick Cheney got caught with his pants down in the oval office or something.

Well, you are right that this wasn't an accident because it never happened.

It's official: President Clinton's aides didn't vandalize the White House, scrawl lewd notes or steal presidential trinkets as they departed and the Bush administration moved in, as some critics had charged.

The General Services Administration, which investigated the alleged misdeeds, said the rumors were unfounded. "The condition of the real property was consistent with what we would expect to encounter when tenants vacate office space after an extended occupancy," said a GSA statement.

Many news organizations, including The Washington Post, reported on the alleged vandalism shortly after President Bush took office in January. The Post and other outlets soon raised doubts about the claims, and also reported on Bush's statement that the allegations were false.

LOL I love how accusations of low-class are followed by hog-calls. Just kind of...ironic.

Education & facts will usually eliminate the need for hog-calling in an argument. Hog calling detracts from credibility. In my opinion anyway.

They are saying this happens all the time. Note the actual facts brought up in this link:

http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1001995914

"But Doug Pike, an outdoors reporter at the Houston Chronicle who, like many such writers has been drafted to work the story, reports that the accident is rare. He said his reporting since Sunday found that Texas had only 2.7 hunting accidents per 100,000 hunting licenses sold in 2005. "That is the lowest since 1966 when they started keeping records," he said. "It is uncommon."

So it is actually uncommon. I would also venture that if we could see this poor guy he would look very bad.

Yeah, well my buddies and I must be real abnormal because I have both been peppered and peppered someone else while hunting. Usually it happens becuase one of us walks a little faster than the other and gets right on the edge of the other person's shooting area. This is best avoided by having a third person there who keeps the dogs safe and calls the hunters back when one gets ahead of the other. Most of my peppering experiences have been when hunting with one friend. We manage to usually keep a large distance between us and the peppering only amounted to feeling like you have been shot with a BB 50 times--at the same time.

I more or less quit wingshooting because of the peppering and the fact that I lost my hunting buddy to a woman. I didn't want to take the chances with someone new. That and the quail seem to have disappeared due to construction. I will find a covey every once in a while--usually while walking into the deer woods all alone in the dark.....anyone who knows how quail flush knows how good of a measure of one's heart strength that is. Second, only to surprising turkeys unexpectedly.

It was an accident folks. No one rushed to tell the press because the press is hostile....the best question I heard yesterday "Has the Vice President given his resignation over this?". Laughable folks....not even trying to be opaque.

Here's a list of jokes from the late night shows:

http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/TV/02/14/cheney.jokes.ap/index.html

My favorites are:

from "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," Comedy Central
Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot a man during a quail hunt ... making 78-year-old Harry Whittington the first person shot by a sitting veep since Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton, of course, (was) shot in a duel with Aaron Burr over issues of honor, integrity and political maneuvering. Whittington? Mistaken for a bird.

from "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson," CBS
Apparently the reason they didn't release the information right away is they said we had to get the facts right. That's never stopped them in the past.

"Good news, ladies and gentlemen, we have finally located weapons of mass destruction: It's Dick Cheney."

"We can't get Bin Laden, but we nailed a 78-year-old attorney."

"I think Cheney is starting to lose it. After he shot the guy he screamed, 'Anyone else want to call domestic wire tapping illegal?' "
