o/t, but you're not kidding about the weather. I went skiing once in Quebec (once was enough!) and it's the coldest I've ever been in my life. St. Anne de Beaupre (sp.?) area, iirc. It was so cold I could barely talk because it was hard to use my facial muscles! This made my bf at the time very happy, I think lol

Yes January february are freezing in Montreal -40F with the widchill
January MIN -27.4F
February MIN-21.5

In all the Pictures of Luka while in Montreal 2012 he is very pale and looks depressed. they are very different then all his other pictures. Its very easy to get depressed living in a Place like that. Remember with weather like that he mostly stayed in that dump of an apartment 24/7.

yeah, that's it. And it does appear that the acct. has been removed. Wonder why. I think the fb group had posted it as a photobucket (vkk) and that one is gone, too, I think. Wasn't a member over there posting here as well? Maybe she knows why.

If it helps at all and iirc, the account was called "guatemala" not "guatanamera" (because i made that same mistake in searching for it before)

I think the weather will be the least of his worries, I don't think he'll ever be safe in prison not even among sexual deviants whose murders are as bad as his. He's a skinny little runt and murderous sexual deviants can be cat people too...

There was a case here in the 80's, Sidney Cooke, paedo ring, absolutely horiffic, 3 children murdered (one, 6 year old was never found)...anyway, one of the culprits was HUNG by fellow paedophiles....

I found this that might help.
In Canada, the rule is established in R. v. Handy, 164 CCC (3d) 481, 2 SCR 908 (2002):
Evidence of prior bad acts by the accused will be admissible if the prosecution satisfies the judge on a balance of probabilities that, in the context of the particular case, the probative value of the evidence in relation to a specific issue outweighs its potential prejudice and thereby justifies its reception. much more at link

Similar fact evidence - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I believe (as an RN not a lawyer LOL!) that because a small animal does appear in the snuff film the Crown could possibly argue to have other acts of animal cruelty admitted. If he wore the same clothes etc or killed in the same manner it could be admitted however it could be argued, unless we find the animal to prove otherwise, that the animal in the snuff film wasn't being abused, he was being fed. PLEASE don't think that would be my argument. I'm just trying to think like a defense lawyer. The argument sickens me.

Hope the link helps.

It will be very interesting kaRN, because in the Rafferty trial the judge ruled inadmissable on the *advertiser censored*/necro/etc internet activity. His ruling however was due to the search warrant, as opposed to prejudicial/probative value. Had the warrant NOT been at issue, it would have been interesting to see how that same judge would have ruled in that regard.

Sorry, guess that's why i couldn't find it either ... i may have been confusing it with the Miami victim being Guatemalan.

I disagree. Luka is not 70 years old for pete's sake. He's 29. He's pale and depressed for other reasons. Nothing to do with Montreal weather.

Thanks! I still believe the first bit was taped long before the rest of it. Just a theory I'm working on...

I agree..I posted earlier about the difference in the lighting in the different scenes. The time of day changed for sure...the first part of the video seems to be at night...the middle is in the morning and then by the end it seemed to be dusk..I assumed it took place through the night and into the next day but your theory is very interesting that it could have spanned for more than 24 hrs. I guess I just assumed the body would be unbearable after 24 hrs so the thought that he kept it around for a few days never occurred to me. If we had someone who has seen the killvid and is familiar with the decomposition time of a body in this situation I would LOVE to hear your opinion. He did freeze some of the parts but he couldn't have kept the whole body on ice I would imagine.

fwiw, you don't have to be 70 to have the weather and lack of daylight bother you. I know many people who live in Minnesota and a lot of them have commented on how depressing (for real, depressing) it is to go through the entire Winter there. Many of them use special lights to counter it - can't remember what they're called. Not saying this was necessarily lm's problem and clearly it was not his ONLY problem, but it probably didn't help.

For those of you who have viewed the video and are discussing the timeline, perhaps you could address the following. I just stumbled onto another site where they are discussing the video ... that at 2:22 there are very visible stab wounds on the victim's right arm, and that those same wounds are not seen at 2:24. From the still pic they posted, it would appear that way to me also.

Its gets to me bad. Im in my early 30's i also have his dimensions.
Im not saying this is his only reason for being depressed. Im just saying it mite not be a helping factor.

cmon there are millions of people in Montreal not killing and cutting people up.

Sealuzna, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think she means that the victim left the apt. alive after the first part was filmed and that the rest of it happened on a different occasion, entirely.

Hello, can anyone find the photobucket link by 'binxie'?
This string is getting so long even finding old details takes some sleuthing.
I'm looking for that photo of the ex-girlfriends in front of the limo.
Can someone DM it to me? I'd be really grateful.

Lack of Vitamin D in Northern States contributes to depression, suicide and other forms of mental illness. It cannot be ruled out. But, Luka's problems are far more outside the realm of lack of Vitamin D. Just might contribute to his overall health.
Age has nothing to do with Vitamin D deficiency.

That's not possible, Jun Lin was last seen alive on the 24th and the killvid was uploaded on the 25th.

It is possible that the first part of the video where Jun Lin is still alive was filmed a few weeks previously to his killing though, I think that's what Sealuzna was speculating.

It's called SAD - Seasonal Affective Disorder. It occurs in 5% of people. LRM was born and raised in Canada. Yes, people do develop SAD but I bet his problem had nothing to do with weather.

Wanna try living here in UK! :what: :uk: :)
