thank you, I ended up seeing this after my post! I'm not sure what to think. but it certainly can't hurt to look into his claims?

Looks like the Aruba Marriott doesn't have a crawl space.

He is just manipulating for some special treatment.... He was recorded several years ago, on secret video in the undercover journalist's car admitting he killed her and we saw how far that went. Nowhere. He is a pathological liar.

Just like he said bad investigation, because if they couldn't make a case out of that, who knows what will be done with this.

Nothing should be done with it because we know they won't try him in Aruba for Natalee's murder. He's locked up for his second murder and he doesn't deserve less harsh conditions, even if he gives up the locations of Natalee's body- which he never will- he's a confessed liar!!!

Hello all! I'm digging back into the archives a bit here hoping for some information. I have been trying to locate a name(s) of scientist(s) that ran the DNA analysis on the found jawbone. I haven't been able to locate any names or quotes from anyone (besides the press/spokespeople) from the NFI. I know they determined the sample was not from Natalee, leaving the possibility open that it is from another (possibly earlier) missing case. In fact, there is another case that remains unsolved in Aruba from 1984 where a honeymooning couple both went missing off the coast of the same beach in a small boat. Given that the jawbone seemed weathered (indicating long term exposure) and still had wisdom teeth, it is possible that the jawbone may match the DNA of one of these individuals. I have been trying to figure out how to contact the scientists who ran the tests/have the DNA as I have a connection to this older missing case. Any leads would be appreciated!! Thanks!

But if it isn't Natalee then they have another (allegedly) young white female's remains on their hands. And IIRC they said there are no other missing persons fitting that description.

I can't imagine they'd be wanting to scream that from the rooftops, especially if they care more about tourism and the mighty dollar than justice.

I do hope this is confirmed to be Natalee so that her family and loved ones, as well as all the people who have followed the case so closely can have some closure, and so that JVDS pays for what he has done.

i recall a report that investigators on aruba didn't think the jawbone was related to any other aruban missing cases b/c there are so few of them...

Yes, they weren't sure - but there is reason to believe that it may be from this earlier case from the early 80's (which might be 'technically' closed? The families may have gotten death certificates because of amount of time, but I am not sure on that). I do know that a member of one of the families of this case were contacted asking whether they were interested in submitting DNA for comparison (I am not sure whether it was the authorities or the press who initiated contact) but they declined at the time. I know that another member of the family is now interested in submitting, but needs to figure out who to contact for this to happen.

It may not have been linked to this case either because it was so long ago, and got very little press at the time (though there are archived press stories). http://www.upi.com/Archives/1984/10/04/Foreign-News-Briefs/1947465710400/

There was a search party, though no evidence was ever found, nor did anyone ever receive contact again from the missing couple.

There had been a hurricane shortly before that bone was discovered.
It could have come from another place. Everything was stirred up from the storm.

Also this ...

Cobiella added though prosecutors may not know to whom the jawbone belongs, the island's archaeological museum might. The local people, she pointed out, buried the bones of their dead in pots hundreds of years ago and an archaeological site close to the hotel where Holloway disappeared was never fully excavated.

Thanks for the info!

It also mentions that they would test the DNA against other missing cases - however, the case to which I am referring has no DNA on record. At this point, I am trying to figure out who would be the best contact for the forensic team to be able to get a sample sent. Any insights appreciated! Thank you!

Got a Google Alert - thought I'd share:

On Tuesday afternoon, her mother, Beth Holloway, as well as television news personality Nancy Grace, will appear on ABC's Dr. Oz show. A preview for the show says Grace has new information on the case, and that Beth Holloway will talk about "her personal health struggle and never-ending battle for justice."
