Additional bit I missed - Article states that Blundell's Canberra house was one of those searched last month.

Phew! I think I covered all the main points.
I cleared my cookies and could read the article in the Australian. It also said

Asked on social media what advice she would give herself if she could go back in time, Ms Blundell wrote: “Don’t fall for him he will f..k you over with lie after lie.

I have been thinking some thoughts for some time now but can't seem to keep up with the thread. By the time I read it, and have taken it in, it's moved on again!

This is is just some ideas I would like to toss into the mix. I am trying to straighten this out in my head, actually. So excuse long post. I'm tossing around a few ideas re timeline.

From the KPS card activity released by police, DH is back in Adelaide by 22/12/2008, after killing KPS somewhere and putting her body in Belanglo.

Due to his mobile pings we know DH was in Belanglo on 14/15 December. I am theorizing late at night - late on 14th early on 15th due to dual date being given. Belanglo is a four hour round trip from Canberra.

i doubt he took KP with him. Maybe if KPS body was hidden from sight, in the boot or something? But why would you drive in the middle of the night with a small toddler and go walking, carrying a body around in the forest in the dark, when you could simply leave her somewhere else/with someone else.

Then he's back in Canberra 16/12 or earlier to use the card.
By 19/12 he is still in Canberra, uses the card again. Is this the time Khandalyce was sighted without her mother.

Then it's off to Adelaide. A 13 hour drive thereabouts.

IF Khandalyce is with him at this point, is she alive or dead....

Theory 1/If she's not with him, and is alive, he's left her somewhere in the ACT or NSW, some where safe that he knows, with someone that he knows. I doubt he would do this. He's killed her mother and Khandalyce can link him to Karlie.

Theory 2/If she's not with him, and dead - he's got her somewhere dry and not exposed to the elements, somewhere there is no chance she will be found or any odd smells noticed. There are are other childrens clothing articles and old suitcases. A basement?

Theory 3/ If she is with him, and she's alive, why is he risking taking her back to Adelaide? I doubt he would do this. When he has killed her mother. Again, Khandalyce can link him to Karlie.

Theory 4/ If she is with him, and she's dead, he needs to store the remains in Adelaide in such conditions as previously mentioned? Basement.

IMO NSW/ACT is his home ground. Where he feels most comfortable. Where he keeps RETURNING to. Theory 2 is what works for me.

Another line of thought (sorry, bear with me ) going back to statement again.

If you google the following.....

https://www.lonelyplanet.com/thornt.../topics/driving-tips-for-canberra-to-adelaide

It explains that a scenic version of the trip between Adelaide and Canberra can be done via the coastal route and Mt Gambier.

On 17/11/2008 the card is used at Rabbit Photo Mt Gambier.
The next purchase is in Canberra 24/11.

My brain is dead now. Having a rest.

Basements as they are in America are uncommon in Australia. Some older (as in pre-World War 2) houses have relatively small cellars that tend to have mortared stone walls and get bad dampish smells when it rains. Some high-end modern houses have relatively smallish concrete cellars. Some houses built on hillsides have rooms under them with some basementish qualities towards the hill side and more normal qualities facing out. I'm in my forties have spent my entire life in SA and have personally seen only 1 house with a basement like is commonly found in America.

However what tends to be common in many parts of Australia are timber framed houses supported on blocks, with a small but usuable crawl space under the house. Most of Australia has very pronounced wet/dry seasons and due to the cheapness of correcting changes in soil level (just get under there, jack up the joist and shove in some packing) this sort of construction has been good in the past in areas with soils that are highly reactive to water and change very much in size when they get wet. We call such soils "Bay of Biscay" soils here in South Australia, named after a place in France that had similar. In South Australia there are plenty of these timber frames in the Klemzig/Greenacres/Holden Hill area... one of the properties that was searched in SA is located at Holden Hill. These aren't the only areas with timber frames though. These timber framed homes were built in great swathes as dormitory suburbs for industrial workers post World War 2. Timber framed homes are being gradually replaced with modern homes on poured reinforced floating concrete foundations as people buy them and spec build two or three more compact houses on their sites.

Also very common are iron sheds (of various sizes) in backyards.

Just wanted to point out that we don't know WHO was using the card/making the withdrawals as yet.

I don't think we can assume that these are the places DH has been/was at these times until we know it was him making these transactions.

Paraphrase - A long term friend of accused says he was not the sort of man to instigate a plan or an idea. He was always in search of a woman who could control and organise his life for him and was a rather shy man. He describes DH as a follower, not a leader.

DH was deeply distressed by the accident in 2008 and it affected his mental state adversely.

He is one of 5 children. Was for some time in foster care.
Worked as a baker and also in the mining industry.
He liked to cook and clean (for his girlfriends).

Also, same article, an bit about TB and how she found him to be a liar but dependent upon her and how leaving him was hard to do for that reason.

Another point is the manager of Strandbags in Mt Gambier said police had not yet contacted him to discuss the purchase made on kp's card.
The retail operations director of Strandbags said that his company had not been contacted by the police in regard a purchase made on Karlies card or the purchase of a suitcase.
They may have spoken to the store manager or employee however.
Are strandbags franchised?

Karlie Pearce-Stevenson‘s accused killer ‘a follower’: friend

I've read an interview with the woman who was working at Strandbags in Mt Gambier on the day in question, it read like she was the franchisee, she said she doesn't remember the purchase, but checked and she was definitely working on the day in question.

No idea where that was and can't find it now of course, but I believe police have been in contact with her.

I think your mixed up with the Rabbit lady there Mrs G -

The former manager of the camera shop told the Sunday Mail she was shocked to learn she would have been the person to make the transaction.
“I did all the printing and the eftpos transactions so I would have been the person to serve them. It is freaky to think about really,” she said.
“I have been racking my brain but nothing stands out. You serve thousands of customers and it was so long ago, but I checked and I definitely worked that Monday.”

I have been thinking about the car accident that caused HP to have her leg amputated and left her paralysed.
The accident occurred in September and she was in hospital for approximately 3 months, surely she would have had to relearn how to care for herself and attempt everyday tasks that would have once been easy.

Is it possible to think that she would have been able to care for a child at this time, did she have carer visits or help of some kind whilst she re-adjusted to her new life. Did she have support to look after her own child?

Is it reasonable to think that she would have been left with Khandalyce, or would there have been a lot of appointments or visits whilst she was relearning how to care for herself?

This is just a though that has been bugging me for a while

I agree that it seems unlikely that she would either want or be able to cope with an extra child at such a time, but I am not aware of the police saying that she did care for Khandles.
Has the media reported that?
Sorry, but I've not seen it, so just wondering.

Isn't Calvary a private hospital?

South Australia

AFAIK we don't know if HP was a public or private patient, however, eithe r way, she may have been at Calvary because they are both private and public.

Our mission is to provide quality, compassionate health care to the most vulnerable"

I thought the Rabbit store was IN Strandbags (or part of the store) .. is that wrong?

Both Panda and I posted a link to the NSW Police page where the question you posed was answered. What more do you want? Yes I agree with you, I also have a hard time believing that a mother would not recognise the voice of her own daughter but we don't know and may never know the full nature of those calls.

Your suggestion that people on this forum should be careful not to misinterpret what they read is a bit harsh when the police have actually stated that a woman did misrepresent herself as Karlie to Karlie's mother. Members are entitled to their own opinion here and everything posted here is moderated as you probably have gathered by now.

If you want to go down the press misrepresentation road, your posts will be deleted as that subject is totally off topic here. If you want to start a new thread about press misrepresentation, feel free to do so.

I'll try to make my point one more time, then I'll go back to lurking.

The police statement says:

"The phone’s message bank was accessed by the offenders and a woman impersonated Ms Pearce-Stevenson to induce the murdered woman’s mother into sending money to the bank account."

As I said upthread, to me it's feasible that the impersonator spoke to, for example, another friend or family member and asked them to convince Karlie's mother to transfer money. This would qualify as 'inducing'. In other words, the police have not said explicitly in a written statment that someone spoke directly with Karlie's mum.

I can understand how people may read it this way. But I don't think we can assume that that reading is correct.

<Modsnip>

As I said, I will go back to lurking now.

Yes it Is Private.

IMO (SASCIS) is the obvious choice

The South Australian Spinal Cord Injury Service (SASCIS) is a state-wide service providing specialist rehabilitation services for South Australia

Specialist services may be provided for patients beyond SA state borders where there is a lack of other options for patients:

Northern Territory
western New South Wales
north western Victoria).

You could be right - it hasn't been mentioned but it's possible.

Either way, since they interviewed the Rabbit Photo lady, it stands to reason they interviewed the people who owned and worked on the day of question in Strandbags too.
