Go lamp! Nice work. Yikes, he hasn't even seen a photo. That is sooooo strange.

Hi all,

I thought I'd write to Bret Christian and ask him about access to Archives regarding the security company used at the time of CSK, and anything else he could perhaps help us with. I've never met the man but just went on Post website and sent a private email. He seems like a really nice bloke.

Here's his reply below, sadly no archives for that period. And he'd really like to see a photo of the accused in his 20s, hey wouldn't we all! I told him the only place I reckon he'd be able to see one is in the family album!

"Thanks for your note.Like you I had teenagers clubbing in Claremont at the crucial time, and we have all been deeply affected. The old Post archives are very hard to search before we digitised our records. However there were several security companies operating at the time - Claremont Council hired one in response to the public outcry, and Club Bay View also received a court order to upgrade their security presence on the streets of Claremont, not just at the club.Good luck with your sleuthing.Has anyone found a photo of E in his 20s? Id love to see it.

best wishes

That was good thinking , I would think the Council hired security would be mobile units , a lot of councils still use them today
New Breed security who I mentioned as having the Pub / Club contracts in the area did not offer this mobile service

There were companies that specialised in Doormen /Crowd control at concerts etc , and did not go into other types of security

Then you have the big players Wilsons , Armaguard for eg. who did all types of security ... they were not so much interested I pubs /clubs but were in concert security ... there guys were to qualified to risk losing their licences etc. in pub fights

I will wrack my brain and see if I can think of the names of the companies that broke away from New Breed , one I'm sure was Dunbar Security ... the other was run by a guy named Scotty who had worked at the Claremont venues for New Breed , maybe he got the contracts if they changed , I cannot think what his company was called

Nine CCTV cameras were installed in the central area of the Town of Claremont in August 1997. Thecameras were installed as part of ongoing WA Police operations into the Claremont Murders. The WA State Government provided $150 000 to fund installation of thecameras. In 2000 the Macro Task Force investigating the homicides informed the Town of Claremont that thecameras were no longer required for its investigation. The Macro Task Force ended its management ofthe cameras in July 2001. The Town of Claremont opted to continue using the CCTV system in theinterests in public safety and security.

Thanks Aequitas. Yes, that worries me too about nobody having a photo of the youthful BRE. There is always my "age-regressed artwork:" that I did awhile back, remember long time sleuthers? Liberace! I could send him that, wonder what he'd do with it??

Perhaps not so surprising, imo BRE has been active since he was a teenager. Criminals tend to avoid having their photo taken and running the risk of it appearing somewhere in the wider public sphere where they might be recognised.

Not as concerned, as he's puffed and sagged with age and only sees a glimpse of the face he wore when he was the Claremont serial killer.

1.Who thinks mystery man is the accused ?
2.Who thinks that mystery man is well built and muscular?
3.Who thinks mystery man is a skinny bag of bones druggie ?
4.Who thinks mystery man is responsible for J.Rimmer's departure from the roadside area ?
1. No
2. Not particularly
3. No
4. No. If hes really is only on the video once outside. Maybe, if he is seen more than once

Hes on steroids. Deffo! Steroids

Hes wearing more layers underneath, maybe a dress tucked into his pants.

It’s quite likely he avoided pics. Remember the comment by CG on Facebook where she was almost apologetic for tagging him on to a pic? Sounds like he liked to keep under the radar.

Where I used to work there was an employee who had been looking up very unsavoury material online, clearly suspected of being child abuse material as police got a warrant to search our workplace and his home simultaneously. One thing about him was he was in a fairly high profile position yet ran a mile and ducked for cover when photo opportunities arose.

I have to wonder how many girls recognised BRE not by his name when he was arrested, but by his pic when it was published, as a result of near misses many years beforehand.

Unfortunately with such a large number of posts on this topic, I have just read this a few times prior in the back reads. It has been said before.

It appears 1988 is not beyond him, and other cases will follow with whoever committed the Julie Cutler crime.

Well he is either a spy for the CIA, or its not a good look is it. Under the radar attempts.

No doubt his ex wife and long term ex partner have a bit of background on the matter.

It’s quite likely he avoided pics. Remember the comment by CG on Facebook where she was almost apologetic for tagging him on to a pic? Sounds like he liked to keep under the radar.

You know Aroundthecorner I wonder how many more women would come forward if we had a nice young 20 something photo of BRE published in the MSM? The footy one gives us a better idea, but still might be hard to picture him when he was "in his prime". Notice he has his hand up kind of saying, no pictures please in the footy photo. He must have been SO confident though, if he is guilty that is, to be photographed later on receiving a public award and shaking the hand of Mr Ripper (a friend pointed out the irony there of that name, didn't even connect it with the old London serial killer of the same name?)

Yes I imagine it’s a bit of a trade-off - sometimes being TOO resistant to photos makes you look even more suspicious.

Ive never liked having my photo taken for no other reason than I do not like having my photo taken
I'm sure everyone here knows someone who feels the same way about it
I'm sure everyone here knows someone who is the opposite and wants to be in every photo
I think this is one of those situations where you can read to much into things

Mr Ripper: "Ah now let me introduce myself, I'm the Ripper?"
Mr E: "Oh I've heard so much about you!"
Mr Ripper: "And strangely, I've heard a lot about you too! But who knows if it's true??"

Boy Petedavo when you dig, you REALLY dig! Caporn, now there's a name I've heard before somewhere in relation to CSK, hmmm....
I think you're referring to a different Caporn from Timothy John Caporn, former bar manager of many of Perth's Pubs and Clubs.
You're mind is probably reminding you of David John Caporn, former policeman, who became a fireman.

Yep, that's the one I was trying to remember!! Petedavo on the case again, is anyone safe???:websleuther:

Obviously things have happened where someone doesn't want people seeing their face. Kimono rising maybe.

Odd they share the same middle name.

Hi Aroundthecorner - I would think he certainly did avoid photos although as he got older, fatter facial features would look a bit different. He seemed happy enough to have his picture taken when receiving awards for his volunteer work. He just looked like a lot of guys around the same age.

I am pretty sure that once his picture hit the news headlines there would have been a few people who got away from him when he was younger that recognised him. When you really look at the picture you would be able to see something that would be familiar about him. His eyes in particular. Very dark brown. His hair is still dark and he has very tanned skin. MOO
