If he shot himself, why would police divers search for a weapon? Have I missed something in this theory?

"Jim Church, 43, was found by paramedics at his Wallarah property with a gun shot wound to his stomach at 11.20pm on Tuesday."

Interesting how it says he was 'found with a gunshot wound by paramedics'. Who called the paramedics? If it was JC himself, wouldn't he say 'help I've been shot'? They wouldn't have to find him with the wound, they would have responded to his call.

Was it someone else who called and said 'there is a person injured at JC's place'.

And why hasn't anyone been charged with the shooting? Pretty hard to accidently shoot yourself in the stomach, I would think.

There is nothing about this case that is not mysterious, is there??

A neighbor could have called 000 if they heard arguing and then a gunshot? Or similar? Though I'm guessing that he lives somewhere rural, so the neighbor thing could be a moot point... What about someone else in the house?

But the 'found him with a gunshot wound' could just be the journo's wording too.

It sounds as if whoever called 000, did not know or did not say he had a gunshot wound and found him with one only when they arrived. Perhaps the original 000 call was for the police as JC could have been threatened and by the time they arrived, he had been shot. Perhaps loud arguing had been heard so a neighbour or someone else called 000 simply reporting an argument or threatening behaviour.

Yes why hasn't someone been charged with the shooting as JC would surely either know who they were or be able to describe them to police.

Just in my opinion ... the family of the "POI" are very emotionally upset on the anniversary of Leisl's 'disappearance' ..... and have had an 'act of anger' toward the "POI" ...................... Take note that the "POI" DID NOT divulge his shooters identification - But he KNEW the person!

Maybe meaning he is protecting Leisl AND a (maybe) (Leisl Family Member) that shot him .................. ?????? (By not divulging the shooters identity).

Maybe it was a warning shot to JC not to disclose either where Leisl is (or where her body is).

As her body has not been found yet, perhaps Leisl is being held captive somewhere and JC knows more than he has told police hence he may not have divulged the shooter's identity due to fear or the shooter is now another POI.

Divers search creek for missing woman

STRIKE Force detectives have searched an overgrown horse training pool and a creek at Kangy Angy for evidence in the suspicious disappearance of Leisl Smith.

Police divers conducted a slow and meticulous line search today - wading through an overgrown former horse training pool and a creek that surrounds the quiet, secluded property.

Farriers and Blacksmiths in Jilliby, Warnervale, Kangy Angy, NSW

April 4, 2013, 8:30 p.m.

Eight months on and in a major development in the investigation, police spent Thursday searching the property in the same street where Ms Smith had been living with her father, Storm Smith.

The property is owned by a local farrier who is understood to have known the missing 23-year-old, who also worked with horses.

A second property at Brookfield, linked to the same man, was also searched.

Police located and seized a number of items, which will be examined further.

If Police located and seized a number of items at one of these properties, there could be evidence of Leisl having been there.

Also, has the owner of the white utility ever been identified which Leisl got into after she locked her car door the day she disappeared? (I cannot find a link for that) Surely they could have released the number plate to the public at the time but they have obviously wanted to hold back this information earlier.

Thank you …. the search zones make more sense now, and it makes me wonder how many people know what has happened to Leisl.

The police certainly seem to have taken their time in doing these searches as it seems to have been obvious to me - a latecomer to this thread. How many months did it take them to start to do these searches? Maybe they could not get search warrants before.

I think it took 8 months before any searches started. Leisl disappeared in August 2012, and I think they started searching properties relating to the POI in April 2013.

I just re-read the article about the white ute.

Obviously police had this info very early on, as they had CCTV footage. Obviously they know who owns the ute, and as the ute did a u-turn and drove away with Leisl they probably even have CCTV of the driver.

So then what? Did the ute drop Leisl back off later, and then she disappeared. CCTV should have been able to confirm that too.

Or did Leisl never return to the station?

Where did they go?

If it was JC in the ute, why didn’t Leisl just go to his house to meet him, or vice versa? They were neighbours.

Exactly "south aussie" EXACTLY!

You have hit the 'crux'

P.S. I am a 'coastie' too - Wyee.

From local news - he is not speaking to the Police about the shooting

Nothing more frustrating than their right to remain silent.

How about we change that to ‘You have the right to tell us what happened. If you choose not to tell us what happened, you will be medically administered with truth serum and questioned.’

Can we ask to vote on that next week - I think it would pass :floorlaugh:

From local news - he is not speaking to the Police about the shooting

Is that in the local newspaper or was it heard on radio?

So how do you read that?

Is that behaviour showing his possible guilt and someone is threatening his life as they know what happened and want JC to tell the truth?

Or could the gunman be the guilty one and the shot is to warn JC not to tell the truth about him?

I think that JC might withhold the shooter’s name if they were a relative or loved one of his.

But why protect anyone else – whether they were a guilty party or a frustrated supporter of Leisl?

Wouldn’t he be saying to police ‘I want protection, keep that crazy gun-toting fool away from me, they think I did something to Leisl (or they think that I think they did something to Leisl). I could have been killed’?

<modsnip>

Was Leisl in a relationship with JC? He sounds too old for her at 43yo. I wondered if he had a son with whom Leisl was involved with. With whom was she pregnant? Do we know that? In other words, is JC protecting his son?
