I've searched about the kitchen being the crime scene but alas nothing, nowhere, zilch.

Yeah I noticed it last week now its gone. I guess its not supposed to be out there or it was misinformation.

With ALL due respect and no intention of laying blame or being inflammatory, the police and investigators are the middlemen here. They need to prevail and bring the bad guy to justice to be seen in the right light by their constituents.

We have a family who open their home to TP - and this girl TP, who has a history of being able to fit in to other families amicably and settle as a productive member of the family - she gets to the THORBURNS household and seems to struggle and then after some time oh oh, she disappears. HELLO - this is a red flag in a normal family let alone one that has been chosen for a child. I don't care if you are babysitting the devil incarnate, rules and boundaries are just that, and anyone's first instinct should be what happened to that child with NO VOICE, what abuse and neglect was TP was enduring. So the fact that police were moving away from investigating that family just blows my mind.

I think laserdisc suggested the idea that HOW if the THORBURNS were being investigated did the police let that foster family sell the family car that TP was last seen in? They then basically would have had to investigate who bought it and claim that this person had no bearing on the crime at hand. Then CP was the one who identified it to the public as one the family had sold after TP's death. So I have to agree with laserdisc, the police - they were hedging their bets a best. I think if Fb had come to the party earlier this case would have had a lot more evidence, but wow, what family member prevents the police from viewing their Fb when someone from their clan is missing. I think it speaks volumes for the relationships in this THORBURN family. If anyone in my family refused the police to look at their FB I would be seriously worried about the safety of my family!

Just a little curious as to why the current issue of one of our local publications, Jimboomba Times, has a front page as well as page 4 and 5 covering Tiahleigh's tragic murder however their online presence differs. Dated today, the 28th September and delivered today.

In 2013, Tim Carmody led the Queensland Child Protection Commission of Inquiry which at the time, exposed a strained system buckling under systematic failures.

His review identified three main problems: that not enough money was being spent on early interventions to support vulnerable families and avoid moving kids into care; that a widespread risk-adverse culture was too reactive and timorous in its decision making; and that there was a general tendency to shift all responsibility onto the Child Safety bureaucracy.

The result of all this was that child protection intakes had tripled over the decade to 2013.

“The Commission is convinced that wherever possible it is better for the child to stay safely at home — better for the child, better for the family and better for society as a whole,” his report recommended.

The principals and outcomes of the inquiry were generally welcomed, and yet fast forward three more years and the state government is still slowly working its way through the list of recommendations.

Incredible isn't it Angeline. "they initially declared he had nothing to do with her murder".
I won't underestimate our wonderful boyz in blue tho, hopefully they were keeping their cards close to their chest. It could have been a ploy for the deviants to relax and drop their guard.

It still makes me wonder if there was 'something legal' in place that LE could not view or touch the car while it was in the Thornburn's possession.
I believe the police usually have suspects, but dont have enoughevidence to convict. So they say nothing

I noticed the date of this Gumtree ad ties in closely with their Family Day Care being shut down.
I wonder what other items may have been sold, besides the car, that may have helped the investigation.

I believe the police usually have suspects, but don't have enough evidence to convict. So they say nothing until they have concrete evidence. The police would have had their finger on the pulse. It is a difficult job. Have faith in our police.

Makara, the children do bond with their caseworker because they a generally the first person they disclose to so trust is built in early stages.

Anyone who is burned out cannot do the job properly because they are numb, which is not good for anyone.

Good rapport, and relationships with family is essential, so depending on the child's circumstances being in or out of care would affect visitation. Children in care are deemed safe so could be weekly moving to fortnightly or monthly. Some stable kids don't want visits. Kids not in care a minimum of weekly visits are necessary.

Every child has their needs exhaustively assessed, and appointments with specialist etc is arranged. Lots of time is spent with these kids because the whole issues are around deficits the child may have due to their experiences. Those kinds of parent problem/child consequences are important for court.

There are lots of issues in the department like you mentioned, as well as neverending bureaucratic nonsense. My own sense is that the department mirrors the clients, as they are very bad parents to their staff.

One of the good things about visiting clients, is that you had the discretion do work with them that resembled the therapeutic input they were receiving elsewhere, and they responded very well to the re-enforcement.
I discussed with my psychologist daughter today why Tiah wasn't just sent home, and she didn't understand either (she works there). The issue that both of us brought up, is that despite mum having younger kids, and although unification was planned, Tiah being the oldest may have lived a different life than her siblings, and was likely more traumatised. Perhaps it was happening slowly, but a child running away 10x in 10 months raises huge red flags for me.

Having to wait 6 days to find out who had the authority in the department to release names of missing children, is indefensible and unforgivable.

Ad's gone already.

I'm curious about the police activity here - I know they have to jump through hoops to legally acquire evidence and they probably didn't want to spook the suspects.. could it be that rather than insist on seizing the car (and risking the family losing their false confidence) they watched and waited until Rick sold the car. Then all they had to do was approach the new owner and ask him to hand it over, which he did.
Also I have a sick feeling that the reason there were charges laid in relation to the day care so soon after Tia's death is that for the first time people were asking the kids if they were okay.... and two little girls said no.

What does it mean the he was issued with a show cause?

Josh Thorburn, the holder of the blue card has to show cause as to why he believes his blue card should not be cancelled!

IMO his blue card should have been torn up, burned and cancelled immediately upon his arrest and charged with perjury and perverting the cause of justice. But that's just me.

Thanks Makara. I'm not familiar with the blue card stuff. I would have thought that serious charges like those espescially in relation to the murder of a child would be grounds enough in itself to have it cancelled

You would think so but that obviously isn't the case!

A magistrate has ruled that the police affidavit used to oppose TT bail application will remain sealed after a legal bid by the publishers of The Australian and The Courier Mail to have it unsealed. TT lawyer told the court unsealing the affidavit would have the effect of endangering his client's safety.
Article also states that TT has been bashed up to 5 times in the past week while on remand.
