Eloise, I'd love to see that photo, if it's on MSM could tell me the link please?

Off topic to current discussion: there was a request made by LE to alert locals to looking out for car bits that may have come loose...we were all questioning what that might have meant such as mirrors, pieces of headlight covers, taillights, etc.

I'd like to add my two pennies worth at this point after I was driving behind a truck tonight....bits of towing hitches can fall off....if there is a lot of ATV activity in that area it's possible one of the toy haulers in the area may have lost a ball hitch etc.

or even a bike rack?

This is one of the more perplexing parts of the puzzle to me too, newone. I can understand looking for articles of clothing that may have been discarded. Any abductor would want to get rid of identifying attire. But looking for car parts means that they have a reason to look for car parts. What car parts could that be, and why?? Whose car is missing parts?? :waitasec:

Rural mailbox may have been damaged by hit and run and perhaps there is a bit that was at scene?

Tire cover ((from those SUV's with rear mount exterior spare))?

Makes one wonder if there is evidence that perhaps our wee boy was struck and whisked away?

It's a headscratcher for sure.

As it took them a few days to start looking for car parts, it could be that someone ordered new parts for a car soon after William disappeared, or took their vehicle to a repair shop for repair and/or new parts, or it is evident that something recently came off someone's vehicle.

To me, it means that someone is on their radar, or that someone heard a noisy car driving through the forest (tailpipe dragging perhaps) around the time William went missing.

Or they need some story substantiated .....

Unless it was a muffler or after market car part they found, paint bits can be matched as well as plastic lens covers from lights ((they have numbers on them usually)). I am always surprised how quickly with hit & runs LE can usually identify the range of years of vehicle, make etc that they are attempting to locate.

I can see if a regular sedan decided to short cut across a rough road how a shock absorber or tail pipe hangar could dislodge and leave the debris behind.

the tracker may have found evidence of a damaged car part, he also found a small campsite in the forest he was going to investigate further, but i cant find any more info on that?

I always took that reference to looking for missing car parts as being attributable to poor reporting. I know it was printed in the local Port Macquarie paper but I imagined it was just some junior journalist or copy person getting their wires crossed and reporting a search for missing car parts instead of a search for *items discarded from a car*!

I have seen it reported in a bunch of media, Xantara. These are a few references I found on a quick search. Not all MSM picked up on it, but the local ones certainly did and a few other non-local ones too.

I sort of like local MSM, as they tend to have better contacts locally and can get some good info sometimes. At least, that is what I have found in other cases ... like the Jennifer Ramsaran one I've been following for a long time, as an example.

"Superintendent Paul Fehon said the State Emergency Service's volunteers will walk the forest's trails as they search for part of a vehicle that may have become detached."

NSW Rescue Sergeant said about "things thrown"
Superintendent Paul Fehon spoke about "part of vehicle"

Superintendent Paul Fehon said the State Emergency Service's volunteers will walk the forest's trails as they search for part of a vehicle that may have become detached.

Teams of emergency services began the first of a two-day search of roadsides ‘‘in case something has been thrown’’, said NSW Police Rescue Sergeant John King.

And Rachel Olding from the SMH expanded the "things thrown" into several things ...

"They have been told to look for anything that could be discarded from a car such as rubbish or William's clothing."

"For days, SES and police have searched deep into the thick forest looking for anything – clothing, rubbish, a weapon – that may have been discarded from a car carrying three-year-old William Tyrell."

"Sergeant John King from the police rescue squad told a briefing on Thursday morning that vehicles would travel into mountainous regions to look for evidence such as rubbish discarded from cars."

They'll get you: That's the link in #618. It's just the direct image link from SMH/Fairfax Media that you get if you do an image search in Google rather than hunting through article by article.

Just discovered this thread. I think someone has taken William, but who, where and why I have no idea.

I hope that's the case alioop. The alternative is just too damn sad.

Was William wearing shoes at the time of his disappearance? If he wasn't there is no way he would have gotten far in bush without them? His last known photo had no shoes.

Good thanks, he was wearing sandals from memory. I'll find a link later.

Good thoughts

I found this post from thread #1 about his footwear:

Little Sweetie pie, I hope you are somewhere warm and safe. I think it's time to stop obsessing with this case and leave it to the experts. As much as I'm hungry to know more I think silence is what the police are after. You can hear more rustles in the dark if you lay quiet and low.

Nice to see you Alioop!

Re the missing car parts references: perhaps while LE were checking all cars in the vicinity, they came across a car that had damage/missing part and were told this occurred some time prior to WT disappearance in minor accident etc. LE could be looking for car parts in the bush that may disprove the owner's story? LE may think the damage looks too new or appears more consistent with scraping or hitting against a tree rather than another kind of accident?
