For NSW crime statistics, the Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR) has a
NSW Crime Tool which is supposed to allow you to research crime rates by suburb, postcode or Local Government Area. I couldn't get it to work very well, even when I tried again by borrowing a more up-to-date device. But here's what it said:
"Adult male offenders of sexual offences from April 2014 to March 2015, Port Macquarie-Hastings Local Government Area"
- rate per 100,000 population: 129.2
- NSW rate per 100,000 population: 79.0
"Child/Juvenile victims of sexual offences from April 2014 to March 2015, Port Macquarie-Hastings Local Government Area"
Rate per 100,000 population: 589.4
NSW rate per 100,000 population: 468.0
Note:
- I chose 2015 as the year because it covers Apr 2014 to March 2015, the period during which William went missing.
- I couldn't find an explanation for "rate per 100,000 population", so I don't know what that's talking about. In the "adult male offenders of sexual offences" category, is their rate compared to total general population (all ages and genders); or all male adults; or all male adult offenders of all offences; or all male adult offenders of sexual offences across NSW, or across Australia? Plus, I don't understand "rate" anyway. I couldn't find just a simple count of offenders and offences.
- There's no separate category for adult male offenders who committed sexual offences against children/juveniles.
- The category "sexual offences" includes 1. sexual assault, and 2. indecent assault, act of indecency and other sexual offences.
